Description
본 발명은 전자소자용 기판, 그의 제조방법 및 그를 포함하는 박막형 태양전지에 관한 것이다.
태양전지는 차세대 청정 에너지원으로서 수십 년간 많은 연구가 진행되어 오고 있다. 이러한 태양전지는 크게 기판형 태양전지와 박막형 태양전지로 구분할 수 있다. 기판형 태양전지는 실리콘과 같은 반도체 물질 자체를 기판으로 이용하여 태양전지를 제조한 것이고, 박막형 태양전지는 유리 등과 같은 기판 상에 박막의 형태로 반도체를 형성하여 태양전지를 제조한 것이다. 박막형 태양전지는 상기 기판형 태양전지에 비하여 효율이 다소 떨어지기는 하지만, 얇은 두께로 제조가 가능하고 저가의 재료를 이용할 수 있어 제조비용이 저렴한 장점이 있어 대량생산에 적합하다.
도 1에 일반적인 박막형 태양전지의 모식도를 나타내었다. 일반적으로 박막형 태양전지는 전자소자용 기판(100) 상에 금속전극(200), 투명전극(300), 광활성층(400) 및 상부전극(500)을 순차로 형성하여 제조된다. 이러한 박막형 태양전지의 효율을 극대화하기 위해서는, 상부전극으로 입사된 빛이 투명전극(300)에서 가능한 많이 난반사되어 광활성층(400)에 흡수되어야 하며, 이를 위해, 일반적으로 투명전극(300)의 표면을 화학적으로 에칭하여 투명전극(300)에 조도를 부여하고 있다.
그런데, 이러한 에칭 공정은 대부분 진공 증착에 의해 진행되는 태양전지 제조 공정과는 별도의 공정에서 진행되어야 하는 바 제조 비용을 상승시킬 뿐만 아니라, 폐수 발생 등 환경 오염 문제를 야기하는 문제가 있다.
본 발명의 일 측면은, 전지 효율이 우수할 뿐만 아니라, 하나의 연속 공정에 의해 제조될 수 있어 경제성이 우수한 박막형 태양전지의 제조에 이용될 수 있는 전자소자용 기판, 그의 제조방법 및 그를 포함하는 박막형 태양전지를 제공하고자 하는 것이다.
그러나, 본 발명이 해결하고자 하는 과제는 이상에서 언급한 과제로 제한되지 않으며, 언급되지 않은 또 다른 과제들은 아래의 기재로부터 통상의 기술자에게 명확하게 이해될 수 있을 것이다.
본 발명의 일 측면은, 베이스 기판; 상기 베이스 기판 상에 형성된 확산방지층; 및 상기 확산방지층 상에 형성되고, 금속 재질로 이루어진 조도 부여층을 포함하는 전자소자용 기판을 제공한다.

본 발명의 또 다른 일 측면은, 상술한 전자소자용 기판; 상기 전자소자용 기판 상에 순차로 형성된 금속전극, 투명전극, 광활성층 및 상부전극을 포함하고, 상기 금속전극, 투명전극, 광활성층 및 상부전극은 상기 전자소자용 기판에 의해 조도가 부여되는 것을 특징으로 하는 박막형 태양전지를 제공한다.
본 발명에 따른 박막형 태양전지는 전지의 효율이 매우 우수한 장점이 있으며, 나아가, 하나의 공정에서 연속적으로 제조될 수 있어 경제성이 매우 우수한 장점이 있다.
도 1은 일반적인 박막형 태양전지의 모식도이다.
도 2는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 전자소자용 기판의 모식도이다.
도 3은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 전자소자용 기판의 표면을 관찰하여 나타낸 것이다.

이하, 첨부된 도면을 참조하여, 본 발명을 상세히 설명한다.
그러나, 본 발명의 실시형태는 여러 가지의 다른 형태로 변형될 수 있으며, 본 발명의 범위가 이하 설명하는 실시형태로만 한정되는 것은 아니다. 도면에서의 요소들의 형상 및 크기 등은 보다 명확한 설명을 위해 과장될 수 있으며, 도면상의 동일한 부호로 표시되는 요소는 동일한 요소이다. 그리고 도면에서 본 발명을 명확하게 설명하기 위해서 설명과 관계없는 부분은 생략하였으며, 명세서 전체를 통하여 유사한 부분에 대해서는 유사한 도면 부호를 붙였다.
명세서 전체에서, 어떤 부분이 어떤 구성요소를 “포함”한다고 할 때, 이는 특별히 반대되는 기재가 없는 한 다른 구성요소를 제외하는 것이 아니라 다른 구성 요소를 더 포함할 수 있는 것을 의미한다.
이하, 도 2 및 도 3을 참조하여 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 전자소자용 기판에 대하여 설명한다.
도 2를 참조하면, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 전자소자용 기판(100)은, 베이스 기판(10); 상기 베이스 기판(10) 상에 형성된 확산방지층(20); 및 상기 확산방지층(20) 상에 형성된 조도 부여층(32)을 포함한다.
베이스 기판(10)은 전자소자용으로 사용되는 기판이라면 그 종류가 특별히 제한되지 않으며, 예를 들면, 유리 기판, 금속 기판, 폴리이미드 기판일 수 있다.
베이스 기판(10)은 10㎛~10mm의 두께로 형성될 수 있다. 상기의 두께로 형성되는 경우 전자소자용 기판의 박막화를 구현할 수 있으며, 적절한 강도를 부여할 수 있다.
확산방지층(20)은 베이스 기판 상에 형성되며, 후술할 열처리시 기판과 금속 박막 간 물질 이동을 방지하여 고품질의 조도 부여층을 형성할 수 있도록 돕는 역할을 한다.
확산방지층(20)은 Mo, Cr, SiO2, Al2O3 및 Si3N4로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 1종 이상을 포함할 수 있다.
확산방지층(20)은 100nm 이상의 두께로 형성될 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 300nm 이상의 두께로 형성될 수 있다. 상기 확산방지층의 두께가 100nm 미만인 경우 열처리시 베이스 기판과 금속 박막 간 물질 이동이 효과적으로 억제되지 않을 우려가 있다. 한편, 확산방지층의 두께가 두꺼울수록 베이스 기판과 금속 박막 간 물질 이동 억제 측면에서 유리하기 때문에, 본 발명에서는 상기 확산방지층 두께의 상한에 대해서는 특별히 한정하지 않는다. 다만, 전자소자용 기판의 박막화의 측면에서 그 상한을 1000nm로 한정할 수 있다.
조도 부여층(32)은 확산방지층(20) 상에 형성되고, 금속 재질로 이루어지며, 전자소자용 기판에 표면 조도를 부여하는 역할을 한다. 조도 부여층(32)은 비정형의 네트워크(network)형 구조를 가질 수 있으며, 이와 같은 비정형의 네트워크형 구조는 입사되는 태양광을 효율적으로 산란시킬 수 있는 장점이 있으며, 산란의 극대화를 통해 후술할 박막형 태양전지의 효율을 극대화할 수 있다. 여기서, 비정형의 네트워크형 구조란, 네트워크를 이루는 돌출부(34)가 비정형의 패턴 및 높이를 가지며, 네트워크 내부의 개구부(36)가 비정형의 패턴을 가지는 구조를 의미할 수 있다. 한편, 상기 비정형의 네트워크(network)형 구조는 금속 박막의 자기 조립(Self-Assembly)에 의해 형성될 수 있다.
도 3은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 전자소자용 기판(100)의 표면을 관찰하여 나타낸 것이다. 도 3의 전자소자용 기판은 스테인리스 스틸(STS 430)을 베이스 기판으로 하여, 상기 베이스 기판 상에 스퍼터링법에 의해 Cr층을 100nm 두께로 증착하고, 상기 Cr층 상에 Ag 금속 박막을 50nm 두께로 증착한 후, 2℃/sec의 속도로 600℃까지 승온한 후, 10분간 유지하여 제조된 것이다.
조도 부여층(32)을 이루는 금속은 Ag, Au 및 Sn으로 이루어지는 군에서 선택된 1종 이상일 수 있다.
이하, 도 4를 참조하여 본 발명의 전자소자용 기판을 제조하는 한가지 바람직한 실시예를 통하여 상기 전자소자용 기판의 추가적인 특징에 대하여 상세히 설명한다. 다만, 후술하는 전자소자용 기판을 제조하는 방법은 한가지 실시예에 불과할 뿐, 본 발명의 전자소자용 기판이 반드시 이와 같은 과정에 의해 제조되는 것으로 한정된다는 의미는 아니라는 것에 유의할 필요가 있다.
도 4를 참조하면, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 전자소자용 기판의 제조방법은, 베이스 기판(10) 상에 확산 방지층(20)을 형성하는 단계; 상기 확산 방지층(20) 상에 금속 박막(30)을 형성하는 단계; 및 상기 확산 방지층(20) 및 금속 박막(30)이 순차로 형성된 베이스 기판(10)을 열처리하여, 조도 부여층(32)을 형성하는 단계를 포함한다.
베이스 기판(10) 상에 확산 방지층(20)을 형성하는 방법은 특별히 한정하지 않으나, 다만, 생산성 향상을 위해 롤-투-롤(Roll-to-Roll) 법에 의한 연속 공정에 적용할 수 있는 방법을 이용하는 것이 바람직하며, 예를 들면, 스퍼터링법(Sputtering technique) 또는 전자빔 증발법(E-beam evaporation technique)에 의해 형성할 수 있다.
만약, 스퍼터링에 의해 확산방지층을 형성할 경우, 진공이 형성된 공간에서 상기 확산방지층의 소재로 선택된 금속 소재를 타겟으로 하여 노즐을 통해 고속 분사된 이온화된 아르곤 가스를 충돌시킴으로써, 타겟으로부터 금속 원자를 분출시켜 기판 표면에 증착시키는 과정에 의해 이루어질 수 있다. 이때, 분사되는 아르곤 가스의 양이나 속도, 공정시간 등을 제어함으로써 형성되는 확산방지층의 두께를 제어할 수 있다.
이후의 확산방지층(20) 상에 금속 박막(30)을 형성하는 방법 역시 베이스 기판 상에 확산방지층을 형성하는 방법과 동일한 방법에 의할 수 있다.
이때, 형성되는 금속 박막(30)의 두께는 30~200nm일 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 50~150nm일 수 있다. 상기의 두께로 형성되는 경우 후속하는 열처리를 통해 비정형의 네트워크 구조의 조도 부여층을 형성시키기에 유리하며 박막화의 구현이 가능하게 된다.
이후, 확산 방지층(20) 및 금속 박막(30)이 순차로 형성된 베이스 기판(10)을 열처리하며, 이에 의해 상기 금속 박막(30)은 비정형의 네트워크형 구조를 가지는 조도 부여층(32)으로 변화된다.
상기 열처리는, 2.5℃/sec 이하의 속도(바람직하게는 2℃/sec 이하의 속도) 로 320~700℃까지 승온(바람직하게는 450~600℃까지 승온)한 후, 10분 이상 유지(바람직하게는 20분 이상 유지)하는 것일 수 있다.
열처리시, 승온속도가 2.5℃/sec를 초과하는 경우 급속한 가열에 의해 온도 불균일이 발생할 우려가 있다. 한편, 승온속도가 느릴수록 온도 균일화 측면에서 유리하기 때문에, 본 발명에서는 승온속도의 하한에 대해서는 특별히 한정하지 않는다. 다만, 공정시간이 지나치게 길어지는 것을 방지하는 측면에서 그 하한을 0.5℃/sec로 한정할 수 있다.
열처리시, 열처리 온도가 320℃ 미만인 경우 낮은 온도로 인해 비정형의 네트워크형 구조를 가지는 조도 부여층(32)이 원활히 형성되지 않을 우려가 있으며, 반면, 700℃를 초과하는 경우 베이스 기판의 변형이 발생할 우려가 있으며, 금속 박막에 포함된 금속의 일부가 휘발되어 소실될 우려가 있다.
열처리시, 열처리 시간이 10분 미만인 경우 짧은 처리 시간으로 인해 금속 네트워크가 충분히 형성되지 않을 우려가 있다. 한편, 열처리 시간이 길수록 조도 부여층 형성에 유리하기 때문에, 본 발명에서는 열처리 시간의 상한에 대해서는 특별히 한정하지 않는다. 다만, 공정시간이 지나치게 길어지는 것을 방지하는 측면에서 그 상한을 60분으로 한정할 수 있다.
상술한 방법에 의해 제조된 전자소자용 기판의 용도는 특별히 한정하지 않으나, 바람직하게는 박막형 태양전지용 기판, 유기발광다이오드(OLED)용 기판 등으로 이용될 수 있다.
이하, 도 5를 참조하여, 상술한 전자소자용 기판을 적용하는 바람직한 일 예로써, 상술한 전자소자용 기판을 포함하는 박막형 태양전지에 대하여 상세히 설명한다.
도 5를 참조하면, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 박막형 태양전지는, 상술한 전자소자용 기판(100); 상기 전자소자용 기판 상에 순차로 형성된 금속전극(200), 투명전극(300), 광활성층(400) 및 상부전극(500)을 포함한다.
이때, 상기 금속전극(200), 투명전극(300), 광활성층(400) 및 상부전극(500)은 상기 전자소자용 기판(100)에 의해 조도가 부여되는 것을 특징한다.
즉, 상기 금속전극(200), 투명전극(300), 광활성층(400) 및 상부전극(500)은 상기 전자소자용 기판(100)과 동일 또는 극히 유사한 표면 조도를 가진다. 따라서, 박막형 태양전지의 효율을 극대화할 수 있는 장점이 있으며, 나아가, 투명전극의 표면을 화학적으로 에칭하는 별도의 공정을 요하지 않으므로, 박막형 태양전지를 하나의 공정에서 연속적으로 제조할 수 있으며, 이로 인해 공정 효율성을 극대화 할 수 있는 장점이 있다.
Claims (13)
- 베이스 기판;상기 베이스 기판 상에 형성된 확산방지층; 및상기 확산방지층 상에 형성되고, 금속 재질로 이루어진 조도 부여층을 포함하는 전자소자용 기판.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 조도 부여층은 비정형의 네트워크(network)형 구조를 가지는 전자소자용 기판.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 비정형의 네트워크(network)형 구조는 네트워크를 이루는 돌출부가 비정형의 패턴 및 높이를 가지며, 네트워크 내부의 개구부가 비정형의 패턴을 가지는 구조인 전자소자용 기판.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 비정형의 네트워크(network)형 구조를 가지는 조도 부여층은 금속 박막의 자가 조립(Self-Assembly)에 의해 형성되는 전자소자용 기판.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 확산방지층은 Mo, Cr, SiO2, Al2O3 및 Si3N4로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 1종 이상을 포함하는 전자소자용 기판.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 확산방지층의 두께는 100nm 이상인 전자소자용 기판.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 조도 부여층을 이루는 금속은 Ag, Au 및 Sn으로 이루어지는 군에서 선택된 1종 이상인 전자소자용 기판.
- 베이스 기판 상에 확산 방지층을 형성하는 단계;상기 확산 방지층 상에 금속 박막을 형성하는 단계; 및상기 확산 방지층 및 금속 박막이 순차로 형성된 베이스 기판을 열처리하여, 조도 부여층을 형성하는 단계를 포함하는 전자소자용 기판의 제조방법.
- 제 8항에 있어서,상기 확산방지층은 Mo, Cr, SiO2, Al2O3 및 Si3N4로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 1종 이상을 포함하는 전자소자용 기판의 제조방법.
- 제 8항에 있어서,상기 금속 박막의 두께는 30~200nm인 전자소자용 기판의 제조방법.
- 제 8항에 있어서,상기 금속 박막을 이루는 금속은 Ag, Au 및 Sn으로 이루어지는 군에서 선택된 1종 이상인 전자소자용 기판의 제조방법.
- 제 8항에 있어서,상기 열처리는, 2.5℃/sec 이하의 속도로 320~700℃까지 승온한 후, 10분 이상 유지하는 것인 전자소자용 기판의 제조방법.
- 제 1항 내지 제 7항 중 어느 한 항의 전자소자용 기판;상기 전자소자용 기판 상에 순차로 형성된 금속전극, 투명전극, 광활성층 및 상부전극을 포함하고,상기 금속전극, 투명전극, 광활성층 및 상부전극은 상기 전자소자용 기판에 의해 조도가 부여되는 것을 특징으로 하는 박막형 태양전지.
