その後、ステップ16にて、制御部111は、放電を休止してから、ステップ13で決定した休止時間が経過したかどうかを判定する。放電を休止してから休止時間が経過すると、ステップ17にて、制御部111は、あらかじめ設定された終了電圧に達したかどうかを判定する。
終了電圧に達した場合、処理は終了する。また、終了電圧に達していない場合は、制御部111は、さらにステップ11にて化学電池121の放電を開始する。
放電処理が終了すると、任意のタイミングで充電装置200を用いた充電が開始され、化学電池121がパルス放電可能な充電状態へ戻される。
放電時間が30秒である場合、制御部111は、この放電時間「30秒」と、記憶部130から読み出した時間比「4」とを掛け合わせた値「120秒」を休止時間として決定する。制御部111は、放電開始から30秒が経過すると、化学電池121の放電を120秒間、休止する。その後、制御部111は、化学電池121の電圧が終電電圧3Vとなるまで、30秒間の放電と120秒間の休止とを繰り返す。このとき、放電容量が30Ah以上(定格容量の92%以上)であることが保証される。
放電時間が30秒である場合、制御部111は、この放電時間「30秒」と、記憶部130から読み出した時間比「5」とを掛け合わせた値「150秒」を休止時間として決定する。制御部111は、放電開始から30秒が経過すると、化学電池121の放電を150秒間、休止する。その後、制御部111は、化学電池121の電圧が終電電圧3Vとなるまで、30秒間の放電と150秒間の休止とを繰り返す。このとき、環境温度が室温(25℃)の下でセル温度が40℃以下であることが保証される。
(第3の実施の形態)
本形態におけるパルス放電装置102は図8に示すように、制御部112と、化学電池121とを有している。また、化学電池121を充電するための充電装置200が、パルス放電装置102と接続可能に構成されている。なお、図8には、本形態におけるパルス放電装置102に設けられた構成要素のうち、本実施の形態に関わる主要な構成要素の一例を示す。つまり、本形態におけるパルス放電装置102に設けられた他の構成要素は、一般的なパルス放電装置に設けられた構成要素であっても良く、ここでは特に規定しない。
制御部112は、化学電池121の放電と、放電の休止とを交互に繰り返すパルス放電の制御を行う。また、制御部112は、記憶部131を具備している。記憶部131は、化学電池121の放電時間に対する休止時間の時間比をあらかじめ記憶するハードディスク等の記憶装置である。この時間比は、化学電池121の放電容量の低下を低減するために最適な放電時間と休止時間との比、およびセル温度の上昇を低減するために最適な放電時間と休止時間との比であり、あらかじめ実験や測定等で決定された値である。
図8に示した記憶部131には図9に示すように、放電時間に対する休止時間の時間比「4」および「5」があらかじめ設定され、記憶されている。時間比「4」は、図5を用いて説明したように、放電容量の低下を低減させる値である。また、時間比「5」は、図6を用いて説明したように、セル温度上昇を低減させる値である。このように、記憶部131には、2種類の時間比が記憶されている。
化学電池121は、制御部112の制御によって放電を行う電池セルである。化学電池121は、リチウムイオン電池であっても良い。
図10は、図8に示したパルス放電装置102におけるパルス放電方法を説明するためのフローチャートである。
まず、ステップ21にて、制御部112が、化学電池121の放電を開始する。続いて、ステップ22にて、制御部112は、記憶部131から時間比を読み出す。ここで、記憶部131には、図9に示したように、2つの時間比が記憶されているため、制御部112は、記憶部131からこの2つの時間比を読み出す。制御部112は、読み出した時間比のうち、大きな値である時間比を選択する。そして、ステップ23にて、制御部112は、選択した時間比に基づいて、放電時間に対する休止時間を決定する。
その後、ステップ24にて、制御部112は、放電を開始してから放電時間が経過したかどうかを判定する。放電を開始してから放電時間が経過すると、ステップ25にて、制御部112は化学電池121の放電を休止する。
その後、ステップ26にて、制御部112は、放電を休止してから、ステップ23で決定した休止時間が経過したかどうかを判定する。放電を休止してから休止時間が経過すると、ステップ27にて、制御部112は、あらかじめ設定された終了電圧に達したかどうかを判定する。
終了電圧に達した場合、処理は終了する。また、終了電圧に達していない場合は、制御部112は、さらにステップ21にて化学電池121の放電を開始する。
放電処理が終了すると、任意のタイミングで充電装置200を用いた充電が開始され、化学電池121がパルス放電可能な充電状態へ戻される。
制御部112は、記憶部131に記憶されている時間比のうち、大きな値「5」を選択する。放電時間が30秒である場合、制御部112は、この放電時間「30秒」と、選択した時間比「5」とを掛け合わせた値「150秒」を休止時間として決定する。制御部112は、放電開始から30秒が経過すると、化学電池121の放電を150秒間、休止する。その後、制御部112は、化学電池121の電圧が終電電圧3Vとなるまで、30秒間の放電と150秒間の休止とを繰り返す。このとき、放電容量が30Ah以上(定格容量の92%以上)あることと、環境温度が室温(25℃)の下でセル温度が40℃以下であることが保証される。
(付記1)化学電池の放電と該放電の休止とを交互に繰り返すパルス放電を行う際、あらかじめ設定された、放電時間と休止時間との時間比に基づいて、前記放電時間に対する前記休止時間を決定する制御部を有するパルス放電装置。
(付記2)前記制御部は、前記時間比をあらかじめ記憶する記憶部を有する、付記1に記載のパルス放電装置。
(付記3)前記時間比は、放電容量低下を低減させる値である、付記1または付記2に記載のパルス放電装置。
(付記4)前記時間比は、前記放電時間に対する前記休止時間の比が4以上である、付記3に記載のパルス放電装置。
(付記5)前記時間比は、セル温度上昇を低減させる値である、付記1または付記2に記載のパルス放電装置。
(付記6)前記時間比は、前記放電時間に対する前記休止時間の比が5以上である、付記5に記載のパルス放電装置。
(付記7)前記時間比は、放電容量低下を低減させ、かつ、セル温度上昇を低減させる値である、付記1または付記2に記載のパルス放電装置。
(付記8)前記化学電池は、リチウムイオン電池である、付記1から7のいずれか1項に記載のパルス放電装置。
(付記9)化学電池の放電と該放電の休止とを交互に繰り返すパルス放電を行う際、あらかじめ設定された、放電時間と休止時間との時間比に基づいて、前記放電時間に対する前記休止時間を決定する処理を行うパルス放電方法。

Claims (9)
- 化学電池の放電と該放電の休止とを交互に繰り返すパルス放電を行う際、あらかじめ設定された、放電時間と休止時間との時間比に基づいて、前記放電時間に対する前記休止時間を決定する制御部を有するパルス放電装置。
- 請求項1に記載のパルス放電装置において、
前記制御部は、前記時間比をあらかじめ記憶する記憶部を有するパルス放電装置。 - 請求項1または請求項2に記載のパルス放電装置において、
前記時間比は、放電容量低下を低減させる値であるパルス放電装置。 - 請求項3に記載のパルス放電装置において、
前記時間比は、前記放電時間に対する前記休止時間の比が4以上であるパルス放電装置。 - 請求項1または請求項2に記載のパルス放電装置において、
前記時間比は、セル温度上昇を低減させる値であるパルス放電装置。 - 請求項5に記載のパルス放電装置において、
前記時間比は、前記放電時間に対する前記休止時間の比が5以上であるパルス放電装置。 - 請求項1または請求項2に記載のパルス放電装置において、
前記時間比は、放電容量低下を低減させ、かつ、セル温度上昇を低減させる値であるパルス放電装置。 - 請求項1から7のいずれか1項に記載のパルス放電装置において、
前記化学電池は、リチウムイオン電池であるパルス放電装置。 - 化学電池の放電と該放電の休止とを交互に繰り返すパルス放電を行う際、あらかじめ設定された、放電時間と休止時間との時間比に基づいて、前記放電時間に対する前記休止時間を決定する処理を行うパルス放電方法。
