  • the mobile application is configured to identify, from said work schedule, which designated location and at what time a user is expected to attend and prompt the user to log in at the designated time. If the user is successfully verified, data representative of the date and time of the user's attendance is preferably transmitted to and stored in the central records system. If a user scheduled to attend a designated location does not log in and authenticate their attendance, the mobile application is preferably configured to send data representative of their non-attendance to the central records system. In an exemplary embodiment, the mobile application is configured to enable an authorised user to access and view at least selected parts of their own data stored in the central records system, such as their work schedule, attendance record, training records and personal details.

  • the present invention extends to a computer-implemented method of authentication and recordal of personnel attendance at a designated location, the method comprising providing a mobile application configured to capture image data representative of a user's face, employ facial recognition to verify the identity of said user, determine from a predefined record of authorised personnel if said user is an authorised person for said designated location, and generate data indicative of said user's attendance at said designated location.
  • the system uses facial recognition combined with geolocation validation and authentication of the computer system being used via its unique ID number. It employs three levels of image capture verification of facial recognition based on algorithms with increased probabilities of a secure and effective match.
  • the system is configured to report a match on facial recognition or to report a percentage probability in instances where lighting or other environment factors report a match less than 100% (which may also be cause by, for example, the user wearing a hat, changing their hair etc) so that the system has a fault tolerance and can be used to detect ongoing patterns of fraud or misuse.

  • Each mobile application 10 is configured to communicate with a cloud-based dashboard and database system 14, and a central records system 12 held at the or each client site.
  • the mobile application held on a user's mobile device is integrated with a back end "cloud server" which is where data on employees, clients and job sites is stored, and where data can be retrieved in batches for integration with accounting and other systems.
  • Data can be transmitted from the client servers to the cloud-based server, as required.
  • the cloud-based server is accessed by the client servers and the mobile applications via a website which provides a "dashboard" for clients, on-site managers, and staff to update information, set up profiles and otherwise access and update content and information.
  • each mobile application 10 associated with an authorised user is configured to receive a work schedule for that user, which work schedule contains details of the dates, times and locations that the user is required to attend work.
  • the work schedule may be created at the central server 12 by, for example, a central recruitment agency and uploaded, for example in the form of a spreadsheet or the like, onto the cloud- based records system 14 for transmission to each individual mobile application 10, as required.
  • the mobile application 10 may additionally be configured to enter the user's work schedule into a calendar application, which may either be part of the mobile application itself or may be an inbuilt function of the mobile communications device. In either case, reminders may be generated to remind the user that they are required to attend for work, as is known from conventional calendar applications.
  • the mobile application prompts the user to verify their attendance (step 100).
  • the user captures a facial image using the camera function on their device, and that image data is received by the application (step 102).
  • the application compares the image data received with stored image data for the authorised user and uses facial recognition processing to determine whether or not the captured image data matches that stored for the user (step 104).
  • the application uses an algorithm to assess the percentage match based on facial signals and, in instances where the return is a percentage less than 100%, but above a predetermined tolerance percentage, the system reports back a match but also reports that the match may be less than 100%. If the match is less than a statistically significant amount, i.e. less than the predetermined tolerance percentage, an error signal is communicated to the user and to the central records system (defined by the cloud-based system 14 and/or the server-based system 12).
  • the mobile application obtains location data from, for example, the GPS function on the mobile device, and verifies that the user is in the designated location (step 106). If the user is not in the designated location, an error signal is communicated to the user and the central records system. If the user is determined to be in the designated location, an authorisation signal is transmitted to the central records system.
  • the image data may also be used to identify and analyse other defining physical characteristics of the user, for example, gait or symptoms of illness or other disability.
  • "indicators" or flags may be derived from the image data, using image recognition techniques, and those flags can be used to cross- tabulate the information to which they relate with temperature and/or environmental factors in relation to the designated workplace. In the event that the indicators and the workplace, or the temperature or environmental factors in relation thereto, are not compatible, the application may be configured to automatically alter the user's assignments or work tasks to suit the indicators and/or temperature/environmental factors.
  • the mobile application is configured to operate in an off-line mode, whereby it performs the facial recognition and user verification locally, logs the location of the user and the time and date of verification, and transmits this data to the central records system once it is able to obtain a mobile data connection.
  • the facial recognition system may require access to the cloud-based server in order to perform verification.
  • a different form of local authentication may be provided for verifying the identity of the user locally, when the device is off-line.

  • the mobile application may be further extended for managerial staff, for example, on-site managers, providing them with a "dashboard" for reviewing the list of checked-in employees, hours worked, and review other real-time updates.

  • optional space may be provided for notes or other data that a manager can input against employee records, for example, reasons for lateness, comments about overtime, training requirements, and any other data that might be required at a more senior level.
  • embodiments of the present invention will be applicable to many different end users, which can be grouped into three general headings, each potentially having a slightly different portal, depending upon requirements:
  • Candidate portal- any candidate that has been loaded on to start work could use this to see the information about their job, do video inductions, see messages/notifications, and leave feedback etc. They could use their ID number and a recruiter password to access it set by the recruiter.
  • Client - This could be the main contractor/sub-contractor or any client in any industry.
  • the tracking and functionality of this aspect of the system might be more biased to cost and hours so it may be configured to perform cost tracking, GPS locations, hours billed by individuals and where they have been billed, automated timesheets and invoicing function, notifications for all of the above i.e. Over cost, if someone is not on site, no inductions been done or certificates not in date, red and green light indicators may be used to indicate successful and unsuccessful authentication respectively. The riles for such authentication may be user- defined.
  • This may be configured to allow them to add all of their employees onto the system for tracking and notifications.
  • Roll call button that can be a push button function in emergency's to see who needs to come out of the building or site or office.
  • This portal may be configured to enable candidates to log in before they get to the site where they can do video inductions ahead of their placement.
  • Candidates may be able to get training from the portal and be directed to various deals for the people that want to advertise on the site, e.g. construction training companies, work wear, designers, etc.
  • the or each portal may be configured to feed into a central portal that holds all of the information for everything and communicates with individual portals and systems.
  • the system may provide a downloadable version of the mobile application that individuals have on their phones, such that their movements can be added onsite and offsite.
  • the system provides a standard, built-in template that enables staff data to be uploaded from client sites to the cloud-based server, which in turn may be configured to return a red or green signal, for example indicating whether an employee who has gone through the above- described authentication process is permitted on site (the cloud-based server is employed, in this case, to check, for example, if a purchase order is in place, there is sufficient value on the order, certificates are valid, using information entered at the time of user registration onto the system.

Abstract
