Definitions
- the present invention relates to a subsampling apparatus and method.
- Gas hydrate is a solid crystal that is stable under low-temperature and high-pressure conditions in which gas molecules are embedded in a cage structure formed by water molecules.
- Patent Documents 1-3 and Non-Patent Document 1). Since the gas hydrate can contain about 170 m 3 of gas molecules per 1 m 3 of volume, research and development have been conducted as a natural gas transport and storage medium (Patent Documents 1-3 and Non-Patent Document 1). ).
- Non-Patent Document 1 gas hydrates mainly composed of methane molecules (hereinafter referred to as natural gas hydrates) are present in permafrost and seabed sediments.
- Non-Patent Document 1 gas hydrates mainly composed of methane molecules
- a large amount is present in the sediments near the sea in Japan, and development as an unconventional energy resource that replaces oil and coal is being promoted.
- excavation of the sedimentary layer and inspection of physical properties necessary for evaluating the amount of resources and gas productivity using various sensors are performed. Furthermore, by examining the physical properties of a natural gas hydrate sediment sample from which the target sedimentary layer has been collected, it is possible to evaluate the amount of resources and gas productivity with high accuracy.
- Patent Document 4 describes a technique for sampling pore water in sediments and microorganisms contained in the pore water while maintaining the conditions in the formation.
- the gas hydrate exists stably under low-temperature and high-pressure conditions.
- the temperature and pressure conditions are out of the phase stable temperature and pressure range of the gas hydrate due to the temperature rise or pressure drop, the hydrate is decomposed.
- several methods have been reported for collecting and analyzing sediment samples containing gas hydrate without decomposing the gas hydrate.
- Non-Patent Document 2 the saturation sample, thermal conductivity measurement, and mechanical responsiveness measurement of hydrate contained in the deposit are performed on the collected sediment sample while maintaining the temperature and pressure.
- a method for collecting sediment pore water is described. In this method, for a sediment sample protected by a coring liner, a hole is made in the liner and the analysis instrument is brought into contact with the sample to perform analysis in a pressure vessel (general) In particular, the collected deposit is covered with a plastic liner to protect the deposit from shock during coring). In this method, it is possible to evaluate the physical properties of the deposit in the pressure vessel after the sample recovery without decomposing the gas hydrate in the deposit while maintaining the pressure.
- Non-Patent Document 3 describes a method for producing a small sample for analysis by collecting a collected sediment sample while maintaining temperature and pressure. In this method, a gas hydrate deposit sample is pushed out into a cylindrical shape in the axial direction, cut to a desired length using a ball valve, and then stored in another pressure vessel.
- porosity the ratio of the volume of sand to sand other than sand
- the drying method the volume and weight of the dried deposit
- CT method for visualizing the pores in the deposit and calculating the porosity using X-ray computed tomography or synchrotron computed tomography.
- the conventional CT method has a problem that the arrangement of sand is changed because the deposit containing gas hydrate is once released into the atmosphere to decompose the gas hydrate. As described above, it is extremely difficult to accurately evaluate the gas productivity by the drying method or the conventional CT method.
- Non-Patent Document 4 after releasing a gas hydrate deposit whose pressure is maintained to the atmosphere, the gas hydrate deposit is quickly frozen using liquid nitrogen, and X-ray CT imaging of the frozen sample is performed. It is described that the porosity is measured nondestructively by performing.
- Patent Document 4 does not sample while maintaining the pressure.
- gas hydrate deposition is performed. Since it was necessary to release the object to the atmosphere once and freeze it, there was a problem that the gas hydrate was decomposed.
- Non-Patent Document 2 since analysis is performed using a cylindrical sample having a diameter of about 5 cm, the state of gas hydrate present in the gaps between microscopic fine sand particles in the deposit is determined. It was difficult to evaluate.
- Non-Patent Document 3 Although the sample can be sub-sampled while maintaining the pressure, it is a technique of extruding and collecting a soft mud deposit, so that it is used for a sample of a hard sand deposit It was difficult.
- a large and heavy ball valve is used in the process of sealing the subsampled sample in the pressure vessel, there remains a problem in actual use in the field of analysis. Further, since the sample is cut by the ball valve, there has been a concern about changes in physical properties due to mechanical shock applied to the sample.
- Non-Patent Document 4 since the sample is frozen with liquid nitrogen, the pores expand due to freezing of the pore water, and the arrangement of the sand particles changes from the state existing in the formation. Had a point.
- the smaller the gas hydrate content the greater the influence of water expansion due to freezing (because the smaller the gas hydrate content, the greater the pore water).
- the gas hydrate decomposes when released to the atmosphere, but not only the amount of pore water changes due to the generation of water accompanying the decomposition, but also how much the gas hydrate has decomposed cannot be measured. The problem remains in that the porosity cannot be corrected in consideration of the expansion.

- a relief valve may be attached to the second conduit 132 so that excessive pressure is not loaded on the sample.
- sample storage container In the present embodiment, the form using a known GEOTEK sample storage container has been described. However, various sample storage containers can be used as long as the sample storage container can appropriately store the sample. Further, the diameter of the through hole 114 of the flange member 110 can be appropriately changed depending on the type of the sample storage container.
- sampling pipe 140 is manually operated by operating the handle 146
- the sampling pipe 140 may be operated by an electric motor or the like.
- the configuration in which the sample 20 is sealed in the sample container 150 using the screw-in type stopper 160 has been described.
- the stopper may be sealed in the sample container 150 by thermocompression bonding.
- the sample of the simulated gas hydrate deposit was subsampled from the sample storage container and transferred to the sample container for analysis.
- the sample 20 was subsampled from the sample storage container 10 and moved to the sample container 150.
- the room pressure is 5 ° C.
- the internal pressure of the front space 136, the sample container 150, etc. is 3 MPa
- the pressure of the rear space 138 when moving the sampling pipe 140 or the plug rod member 170 in the forward direction 6 MPa, the rear when moving in the rear direction
- a series of sub-sampling operations were performed with the pressure in the space 138 set to 2 MPa.
- hydrous sand obtained by mixing and stirring 160 g of Mikawa silica sand No. 6 and 40 g of water was artificially produced by the gas infiltration method, and used as sample 20.
- the ball valve 14 of the sample storage container 10 manufactured by GEOTEK
- the ball valve 134 of the cylindrical casing 130 opened, the xenon gas is introduced from the first pipe 112 and left for 24 hours.
- Sample 20 was produced within 10.
- the reason why xenon gas is used in the present example is that xenon has a high X-ray absorption coefficient and serves as a gas hydrate contrast agent when observed by X-ray CT.
- FIG. 8A shows a two-dimensional sectional CT image. Since subsampling was performed without decomposing the gas hydrate while maintaining the pressure, it was confirmed that gas hydrate (white region in FIG. 8A) was present in the pores.
- FIG. 8B is an enlarged view of the black frame of FIG. 8A
- FIG. 8C is a color-coded version of FIG.
- S represents sand particles of Mikawa Silica No. 6 used
- H represents gas hydrate
- W represents water.
- the subsampled gas hydrate deposit has a porosity of 39.1% and a gas hydrate saturation of 85.1%.
- the sub-sampling device 100 it is possible to evaluate the amount of resources and gas productivity with high accuracy. As a result, it is possible to select an optimal gas hydrate reservoir and to produce highly efficient gas from the gas hydrate reservoir, thereby greatly reducing natural gas production costs. It is also possible to develop a logging tool optimal for gas hydrate deposits.
