Definitions

- a vibration type knock sensor is attached to the cylinder block, and a predetermined period (knock window) output from the knock sensor Occurrence of knocking is detected by FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) analysis.
- the knock sensor attached to the conventional internal combustion engine described above is a system that transmits the vibration of the internal combustion engine, if injector noise occurs in the knock window, the noise may be erroneously detected as knocking.
- the fuel injection timing cannot be set in the window, and there may be a problem that, for example, the potential of the multi-stage injection technology for reducing PN cannot be fully exhibited.
- Patent Document 1 discloses a technique for detecting the occurrence of knocking without being affected by injector noise by detecting ions (referred to as ion current) generated during combustion.
- the knock detection device for an internal combustion engine disclosed in Patent Document 1 determines whether or not knocking has occurred based on a knock frequency component signal extracted from an ion current signal, and is extracted from the ion current signal.

- the detected waveform of the ionic current is different for each combustion cycle. That is, even if the operating conditions of the internal combustion engine are substantially constant, the detection waveform of the ionic current varies greatly. Therefore, the higher the signal level of the ion current, the higher the signal level of the extracted knocking frequency component, and the lower the signal level of the ion current, the lower the signal level of the extracted knocking frequency component.
- the knock vibration component included in the current is weak, it is difficult to accurately extract the knock vibration component from the ion current signal, and it is difficult to detect the occurrence of knocking from the ion current signal. This has been confirmed by experiments by the inventors.

- An object of the present invention is to provide a control device for an internal combustion engine.

- the knock vibration component by detecting the combustion state of the internal combustion engine using the differential value as the amount of change in the ion current value, for example, the knock included in the ion current at the time of occurrence of the knock Even if the vibration component is weak, the knock vibration component can be reliably extracted from the ionic current regardless of the absolute value of the ionic current value. - the ion differential value means a difference between ion current signals in a certain time width.
- the occurrence of knocking in the engine 100 is detected based on the ion differential value obtained by differentiating the time series signal (ion current signal) of the ion current value in the knock window.
- a relatively large ion current signal is detected after time t3 after the spark discharge is finished and the combustion flame spreads over the entire combustion chamber 12, and after that time t3, the ion current signal is detected.
- a large noise may be generated in the ion current signal at the moment when the signal rises. Therefore, in order not to include this noise in the calculation of the ion differential value vibration intensity, the knock window for calculating the ion differential value vibration intensity is set after the rising noise of the ion current signal.

- the arithmetic processing from S101 to S103 needs to be performed at a much higher speed than the control cycle (for example, 2 ms) performed by the ECU 20 ( For example, several tens of ⁇ s).
- the following arithmetic processing from S104 to S108 is performed in a control cycle (for example, 2 ms) performed by the ECU 20.
- the ECU 20 calculates the ion differential value vibration intensity S1 by integrating the signal level of the knock frequency band among the analysis results transmitted from the frequency analysis unit 20lb in the calculation unit 20lc, and calculates the calculation result as the knock detection unit. Send to 20m.

- the ECU 20 compares whether or not the ion differential value vibration intensity S1 transmitted from the calculation unit 20lc is larger than the knock determination threshold value S01. If S1 ⁇ S01, knocking has not occurred. A determination is made and a series of control is terminated.
- the knock avoidance control unit 20n is configured so that the ignition timing of the ignition system 4 is retarded from the current value. The ignition timing of the ignition system 4 is controlled.
- the knock vibration component included in the ion current is weak when the knock occurs. Further, the combustion state of engine 100 can be precisely controlled by controlling the ignition timing based on the detection result and performing knock avoidance control.
- the ion differential vibration intensity may deviate from the overall correlation even if the knock intensity is equivalent (for example, point A).
- the ion differential value vibration intensity is normalized based on the ion integral value obtained by integrating the time-series signal (ion current signal) of the ion current value in the middle and the whole cycle), and the engine 100 is based on the normalized value. It is conceivable to detect the occurrence of knocking.
- FIG. 12 shows the relationship between the knock intensity and the normalized value obtained by dividing the ion differential value vibration intensity by the ion integral value.
- the normalized value obtained by dividing the ion differential value vibration intensity calculated by using the result obtained by FFT analysis of the ion differential value in the knock window by the ion integral value and the knock intensity It has been confirmed that the correlation is higher (correlation coefficient R 2 is approximately 0.57). This is considered because the influence of the absolute value of the ion current signal for each combustion cycle can be removed by dividing the ion differential value by the ion integral value in the cycle. Therefore, in the second embodiment, engine knocking is detected based on a normalized value obtained by normalizing the ion differential value vibration intensity based on the ion integral value.
- the integration range for calculating the ion integration value may be set so as to include the ion current signal at the time of combustion, and may be limited to, for example, a knock window. It is good also as the whole cycle.

Send to 20mA.
- Knock detection unit 20mA calculates a knock determination threshold (determination threshold) from the input rotation speed and torque, and compares the knock determination threshold with the signal (normalized value S3) input from ion current signal processing unit 20lA. Thus, it is determined whether or not knocking has occurred.

- the integrating unit 20ldA integrates the ion current signal in the cycle to calculate the ion integrated value S2. It should be noted that the range in which the ion current signal is integrated to calculate the ion integral value may be in the knock window or the entire cycle, and the range is stored in the ECU 20A in advance.
- the ECU 20A calculates a normalized value S3 obtained by normalizing the ion differential value vibration intensity S1 by dividing the ion differential value vibration intensity S1 by the ion integral value S2 in the normalizing unit 20leA. The result is transmitted to knock detection unit 20 mA.
- the ECU 20A reads the engine speed Ne and the torque T in S207, and in S208, the knock detection unit 20mA calculates a knock determination threshold S03 set for each driving condition.
- the ECU 20A compares whether or not the normalized value S3 transmitted from the normalizing unit 20lcA is larger than the knock determination threshold S03, and determines that knocking has not occurred if S3 ⁇ S03. Then, a series of control is completed. On the other hand, if S3> S03, it is determined that knocking has occurred, and in S210, the knock avoidance control unit 20nA performs the ignition so that the ignition timing of the ignition system is retarded from the current value. Control the ignition timing of the system.
- the normalized value obtained by dividing the analysis result obtained by frequency analysis of the differential value as the change amount of the ion current signal by the integral value of the ion current signal is used.
- the knock vibration component is reliably and precisely determined from the ion current signal while removing the influence of the absolute value of the ion current signal, regardless of the absolute value of the ion current signal at the time of knock occurrence. - FIG. 16 shows the relationship between knock intensity and ion change rate vibration intensity.
- the ion change rate vibration intensity is a normalized value (also called ion change rate) calculated by dividing the ion differential value by the ion current value (ion current instantaneous value) corresponding to the ion differential value (see FIG. 17). ), A value obtained by integrating the signal level of the knock frequency band among the results obtained by FFT analysis of the ion change rate. As shown in FIG. 16, it has been confirmed that the correlation between the ion change rate vibration intensity calculated using the result obtained by performing the FFT analysis of the ion change rate and the knock intensity is further increased (correlation coefficient). R 2 is approximately 0.60).
