L'invention concerne un grand segment en acier qui est plus léger et qui de ce fait contribue à une meilleure consommation de combustible, qui a une moindre résistance à la traction, et qui est excellent en termes de résistance à l'usure et de résistance au frottement, et concerne aussi un matériau brut pour celui-ci et un procédé de production pour les deux, un grand segment en acier ayant une largeur de segment réduite (h1) et une épaisseur réduite dans le sens radial (a1), et ayant un diamètre nominal (d1) d'au moins 200 mm mais inférieur à 1 100 mm étant obtenu à partir d'un matériau d'acier cylindrique forgé à chaud en combinant : de l'acier comprenant comme éléments d'alliage obligatoires C, Si, Mn, et Cr, comprenant comme éléments d'alliage éventuels Ni, V, et Mo, et dont la conductivité et/ou résistance thermique à la dégradation thermique de ceux-ci est ajustée ; et un forgeage à chaud qui comprend une étape de forgeage par laminage circulaire.
