Abstract

174,851. Hinckley, P. P. Jan. 7, 1921. Piston packing.- Corrugations 10 are rolled in the inner periphery of a piston ring, either before or after splitting the ring, and preferably without removing the scale. The corrugations may be straight or wavy, and may decrease in depth towards the split in the ring. Indentations 13, 14 may be formed in the bottom and sides of the grooves, and may be deepest opposite the split in the ring.
