Description
FILTRO DE COMBUSTÍVEL COM DRENO EM CARCAÇA
Campo da Invenção
A invenção aqui descrita está relacionada a um filtro e, mais particularmente, a invenção refere-se um filtro que permite a adequada drenagem de fluido quando da substituição de um elemento filtrante.
Antecedentes da Invenção
O sistema de alimentação de combustível de um veículo automotor que utiliza um motor a combustão interna tem a função de permitir a condução do combustível de um tanque ou reservatório até a câmara de combustão, com uma pressão substancialmente constante.
Normalmente, tal sistema compreende uma bomba de alimentação, um filtro de combustível, um tubo distribuidor, um regulador de pressão e válvulas de injeção. Em operação, a bomba alimentadora pressuriza o sistema, o que permite o transporte do combustível do tanque para o tubo distribuidor, passando pela linha de combustível. Já a válvula reguladora de pressão controla a pressão na dita linha. Neste trajeto, o combustível passa também por um filtro, posicionado em qualquer ponto entre a bomba do combustível e as válvulas de injeção.
Como já é de conhecimento do estado da técnica, os filtros consistem em meios capazes de permitir o fluxo de uma substância necessária, tal como o fluido combustível e, ao mesmo tempo, obstruir a passagem de outras substâncias indesejadas como, por exemplo, partículas sólidas ou até mesmo fluidos estranhos.
Particularmente com relação a um filtro de combustível, este tem a finalidade de reter impurezas contidas no combustível por meio de um elemento filtrante, tal como um papel, envolvido por uma carcaça constituída normalmente de nylon, aço, alumínio ou plástico.
Em outras palavras, os filtros de combustível protegem o sistema
de alimentação do combustível, eliminando ou ao menos reduzindo as impurezas presentes no combustível provenientes do transporte, estocagem e/ou do próprio tanque, o que evita a obstrução de orifícios das válvulas injetoras. Assim, os filtros proporcionam um melhor desempenho do motor e, consequentemente, um aumento de sua vida útil.
Idealmente, o filtro deve proporcionar alta eficiência na retenção de contaminantes e, ao mesmo tempo, baixa resistência ao fluxo de combustível. Além disso, o filtro deve ser projetado de maneira a garantir boa vedação e alta resistência a pressões internas.
Atualmente, devido à alteração do sistema carburado para sistema de injeção eletrônica, o filtro passou a ser uma peça essencial, uma vez que as partículas indesejadas existentes no combustível podem causar um desgaste excessivo dos componentes do sistema de injeção, além de poder obstruir os bicos injetores do sistema de injeção eletrônica.
Neste sentido, a ausência de um filtro de combustível seguramente causaria problemas na partida do motor bem como prejudicaria significativamente a operação adequada do mesmo, causando um aumento do consumo de combustível e desgaste dos componentes, não obstante possíveis falhas de funcionamento.
A vida útil de um filtro depende da quantidade de impurezas contidas no combustível e varia de acordo com a quilometragem indicada para cada modelo/tipo de veículo. De todo modo, a troca do filtro deve ser feita periodicamente em manutenções preventivas.
Nestas manutenções, o filtro é normalmente descartado integralmente quando do fim de sua vida útil prevista, uma vez que não é possível separar o elemento filtrante da carcaça para a sua substituição, pois o filtro consiste em peça única que compreende uma carcaça permanentemente fechada, com o elemento filtrante já montado em seu interior. Naturalmente,
este procedimento não é o mais adequado tanto do ponto de vista económico como ambiental/ecológico, uma vez que o material da carcaça não é usualmente biodegradável. Além do mais, uma vez que o filtro de combustível é realizado em materiais distintos, quais sejam, o material da carcaça e o material do elemento filtrante, por se tratar de uma peça única, fica difícil ou até mesmo impossível separar estes materiais para uma destinação adequada de descarte que seja ambientalmente amigável.
No sentido de solucionar este problema, a depositante apresentou na publicação WO 2012/083405 um filtro de combustível cujo elemento filtrante pode ser separado da carcaça. Este filtro é dotado de uma tampa destacável em relação à carcaça, permitindo a substituição do elemento filtrante sem a necessidade de descartar a carcaça e também sem a necessidade de desconectar o filtro da linha de combustível. Dessa forma, somente o elemento filtrante pode ser descartado e não existe necessidade de se substituir a carcaça. Além do menor custo associado à substituição do filtro, esta solução também permite o descarte do elemento filtrante de forma adequada, gerando um menor impacto ambiental.
Apesar de a solução proposta ser adequada para fins de substituição e descarte do filtro, constatou-se que no momento da substituição do elemento filtrante, pode ocorrer que a linha de alimentação de combustível ainda esteja pressurizada, fazendo com que o combustível contido no interior do filtro escape com alta pressão.
Dessa forma, quando a tampa é retirada para a substituição do elemento filtrante, o combustível é ejetado com alta pressão e pode atingir partes do veículo e a própria pessoa que está substituindo o elemento filtrante. Como o filtro de combustível pode estar no compartimento do motor, se uma das partes atingidas pelo combustível estiver ainda quente, pode ser ocasionado um incêndio. Caso o filtro de combustível fique localizado no
chassis do veículo, na parte inferior do mesmo, pode atingir as pessoas no entorno e contaminar o solo onde está sendo substituído o elemento filtrante. Ademais, o combustível, por geralmente ter uma propriedade solvente, pode também danificar borrachas e plásticos do veículo.
Portanto, é um objetivo da presente invenção contornar os problemas encontrados no estado da técnica em relação à substituição de um elemento filtrante de um filtro de combustível.
DESCRIÇÃO DA INVENÇÃO
A fim de contornar as deficiências encontradas no estado da técnica acima citadas, dentre outras, a invenção refere-se, a um filtro, filtro este que compreende pelo menos uma carcaça e pelo menos um elemento filtrante, o elemento filtrante previsto para ser posicionado no interior da carcaça que é fechada por uma tampa, sendo que a carcaça compreende um meio para drenar de forma controlada o fluido combustível contido em seu interior.
De acordo com realizações adicionais e/ou alternativas da invenção, as seguintes características, sós ou em combinações tecnicamente possíveis, também podem estar presentes:
- o dito meio para drenar de forma controlada o fluido combustível é uma porção de maior diâmetro formada internamente na parede lateral da carcaça, próxima e em direção à abertura da carcaça;
- a porção de maior diâmetro apresenta um diâmetro crescente no sentido da abertura da carcaça;
- o dito meio para drenar de forma controlada o fluido combustível é pelo menos um canal formado internamente na parede lateral da carcaça, próximo e em direção à abertura da carcaça;
- a carcaça compreende mais de um canal formado internamente na parede lateral da carcaça, próximo e em direção à abertura da carcaça;
- o filtro é um filtro de combustível.

A figura 1 revela uma vista lateral em corte transversal de um filtro 10 desmontável, ou seja, um filtro cujo elemento filtrante 20 pode ser destacado do filtro. O filtro 10, de forma geral, é formado por uma carcaça 30 que envolve o elemento filtrante 20 e, geralmente, possui uma forma substancialmente cilíndrica. Naturalmente, a carcaça pode assumir qualquer outra forma tecnicamente adequada. A carcaça 30 é constituída de parede lateral 31 que se estende axialmente e, em suas extremidades, define, por um lado, uma abertura 32 destinada a receber um elemento filtrante 20 e, do outro lado, uma parede fechada 33 que incorpora uma entrada 34 (ou saída) do fluido que é filtrado. De forma particular, o filtro 10 aqui descrito é um filtro destinado a filtrar um fluido combustível, tal como, porém sem limitação, gasolina, etanol, óleo diesel etc. Nesse sentido, a entrada (ou saída) 34 é conectada à linha de alimentação de combustível (não representada).
Ainda em relação à figura 1 , também está representado o elemento filtrante 20, que é envolto pela carcaça 30 e pode ser dissociado da mesma. Como a realização aqui representada revela uma carcaça de formato substancialmente cilíndrico, o elemento filtrante 20 pode apresentar uma forma correspondente também cilíndrica. Tipicamente, o elemento filtrante 20 é feito de um material adequado para conter elementos não desejados e que devem ser contidos, e seu interior geralmente é oco, de forma a permitir o adequado fluxo do fluido destinado a ser filtrado. Tal como esta realização ilustrada, o elemento filtrante 20 compreende, de um lado, um flange 50 destinado a se apoiar na parede fechada 33 da carcaça 30 e, do outro lado, uma base 60 destinada a formar um apoio contra a tampa 40 que é fixada à carcaça 30. A previsão de um flange 50 e de uma base 60 para o elemento filtrante 20 em suas extremidades é importante para formar uma vedação em relação à porção interior oca do elemento filtrante 20 e à porção exterior, de forma a permitir o
correio direcionamento do fluxo de fluido para uma filtragem adequada. Ademais, como o material do elemento filtrante 20 é geralmente um material de baixa resistência mecânica, tal como um papel ou um tecido, tanto o flange 50 como a base 60 funcionam como um meio de reforço mecânico para que o elemento filtrante 20 não colapse quando apoiado, de um lado, à parede fechada 33 da carcaça 30 e, de outro lado, à tampa 40.
A figura 1 revela também uma tampa 40 do filtro 10, que compreende uma parede lateral 41 que define um perímetro contínuo e que delimita, de um lado, uma abertura 42 destinada também a receber o elemento filtrante 20 e a se fixar na carcaça 30 e, de outro lado, uma parede fechada 43 solidária à parede lateral 41 e que incorpora uma saída 44 (ou entrada) do fluido sendo filtrado. Nesta realização específica, a saída 44 se conecta a uma linha de alimentação de combustível (não representada).
A figura 1 representa o filtro 0 montado, ou seja, compreendendo a carcaça 30 associada à tampa 40 e contendo, em seu interior, o elemento filtrante 20 que é apoiado, de um lado, à carcaça através do flange 50 e, de outro lado, à tampa por meio de uma base 60.
A base 60 do elemento filtrante 20 pode também compreender meios de vedação, para propiciar o correto fluxo do fluido a ser filtrado. Como pode ser visto na figura 1 , tais meios de vedação podem consistir, por exemplo, de um ou mais anéis elastoméricos (O-Ring) dispostos de forma adequada para a vedação do filtro 10. A saída 44 de fluido desta realização se projeta, de um lado, para a porção exterior da tampa e, de outro lado, para a porção interior da tampa, prevista para se encaixar em uma abertura 64 prevista na base 60 do elemento filtrante 20. Desta forma, a abertura 64 da base 60 e a saída 44 prevista na tampa 40 devem estar substancialmente alinhadas. Nesse sentido, a base 60 do elemento filtrante 20 pode compreender um anel de vedação interno 71 para vedar o espaço existente entre a saída 44 e a abertura
64 da base 60. Adicionalmente, um anel de vedação externo 72 pode ser previsto na base 60 para vedar o espaço existente entre a dita base 60 e a carcaça 30 do filtro 10.
Em funcionamento, no caso de um filtro para um fluido combustível, o fluido entra, de um lado, pela entrada 34 definida na carcaça 30 e envolve o interior da mesma no espaço delimitado entre o flange 50 e a parede fechada 33 da carcaça 30 e pelo espaço delimitado pela parede lateral 31 da carcaça 30 e a porção externa do filtro 10. Devido à pressão existente em uma linha de alimentação de combustível, que geralmente é constituída por um sistema pressurizado por uma bomba, o fluido é forçado para o interior do elemento filtrante 20 e passa, através de sua porção interna oca, em direção à saída 44 prevista na tampa 40.
Os elementos aqui descritos, bem como o funcionamento do filtro, são conhecidos e descritos em maiores detalhes na publicação WO 2012/083405, incorporada aqui por referência.
No entanto, constatou-se que, quando da desmontagem da tampa 40 para a remoção e substituição do elemento filtrante, a linha de alimentação de combustível pode ainda estar pressurizada. A pressão na linha pode ser significativa, já que opera, geralmente, entre 4 e 6 bars. A retirada da tampa gera um fluxo direto de fluido combustível sem controle do direcionamento deste jato, de forma que pode atingir partes quentes do motor, borrachas e plásticos e até mesmo o individuo que está a substituir o elemento filtrante, além de possível contaminação do solo.
Nesse sentido, a invenção proporciona um meio de drenagem controlada do fluido contido no interior do filtro quando da substituição do elemento filtrante.
Para este fim, e conforme ilustrada na figura 2, em uma possível realização da invenção a carcaça pode compreender em seu lado aberto um
meio de drenagem controlada do fluido combustível. De forma particular, este meio de drenagem controlada do fluido combustível é uma porção de maior diâmetro 35 formada na parede interna próxima à abertura da carcaça. Dessa forma, como podem apreciar os técnicos no assunto, quando da desmontagem da tampa para a remoção e substituição do elemento filtrante, à medida que a tampa é movida no sentido axial para fora da carcaça, o anel de vedação externo 72 move-se de forma solidária com a tampa e, quando chega na porção de maior diâmetro 35 formada na parede lateral interna da carcaça, deixará de ficar em contato com vedação adequada contra esta parede e, dessa forma, permitirá que o fluido seja drenado do interior da carcaça sem que a tampa esteja totalmente desconectada da mesma. Portanto, o fluido combustível pode ser drenado controladamente, e será conduzido para a parede lateral externa da carcaça e, então, poderá ser coletado de forma adequada, conforme ilustram as setas representadas na figura 2. Naturalmente, dependendo da pressão do fluido no interior da carcaça, o individuo que está a desmontar a tampa da carcaça poderá controlar esta drenagem simplesmente ao permitir uma maior ou menor distância axial da tampa em relação à carcaça.
Ainda de forma particular, a porção de maior diâmetro 35 formada na parede interna na abertura da carcaça pode ter um diâmetro progressivo, ou seja, ter um diâmetro que vai aumentando em relação à porção aberta da carcaça, de forma que o controle da drenagem do fluido contido no interior da carcaça seja ainda melhor.
A realização aqui ilustrada revela o emprego de uma porção de maior diâmetro formada na parede interna da carcaça próxima e em direção à abertura da mesma. Porém, podem ser previstos outros meios para se drenar o fluido combustível, tal como, porém sem limitação, o emprego de um ou mais canais formados também na parte interna da parede lateral da carcaça,
próximo e em direção à abertura da carcaça.
Apesar de a invenção ter sido descrita em relação a realizações particulares, os técnicos no assunto poderão realizar alterações de forma e estruturais, ou ainda combinar os elementos aqui descritos de uma forma que

não foi descrita, sem no entanto se desviar dos princípios aqui ensinados. Portanto, as reivindicações anexas devem ser interpretadas como cobrindo todos e quaisquer equivalentes que se enquadram dentro do escopo da invenção.

Claims
1. FILTRO (10), que compreende pelo menos uma carcaça (30) e pelo menos um elemento filtrante (20), o elemento filtrante previsto para ser posicionado no interior da carcaça que é fechada por uma tampa (40), caracterizado pelo fato da carcaça compreender um meio para drenar de forma controlada o fluido combustível contido em seu interior.
2. FILTRO, de acordo com a reivindicação 1 , caracterizado pelo fato de o dito meio para drenar de forma controlada o fluido combustível é uma porção de maior diâmetro (35) formada internamente na parede lateral (31) da carcaça, próxima e em direção à abertura (32) da carcaça.
3. FILTRO, de acordo com a reivindicação 2, caracterizado pelo fato de que a porção de maior diâmetro apresenta um diâmetro crescente no sentido da abertura da carcaça.
4. FILTRO, de acordo com a reivindicação 1 , caracterizado pelo fato de que o dito meio para drenar de forma controlada o fluido combustível é pelo menos um canal formado internamente na parede lateral da carcaça, próximo e em direção à abertura da carcaça.
5. FILTRO, de acordo com a reivindicação 4, caracterizado pelo fato de que compreende mais de um canal formado internamente na parede lateral da carcaça, próximo e em direção à abertura da carcaça.
6. FILTRO, de acordo com a reivindicação 1 , caracterizado por ser um filtro combustível.
