Description
本発明は、人や動物の尿その他の液体を吸収する吸水処理材に関する。
特許文献1には、吸水処理材の一種である動物用の排泄物処理材が記載されている。この排泄物処理材においては、焙煎コーヒー豆の抽出残渣等の有機物が材料として用いられている。

ところで、使用済みの吸水処理材は廃棄する必要があるところ、その廃棄の方法としては、いわゆる家庭ゴミとして処分する方法の他、水洗トイレに流して処分する方法が考えられる。水洗トイレに流す方法は、ユーザにとって利便性の高い廃棄方法である。
水洗トイレに流された吸水処理材は、当該トイレに連結された浄化槽において処理されることになる。浄化槽は、微生物の浄化作用により汚水を浄化する機能を有する。しかしながら、吸水処理材中の有機物は、浄化槽内の微生物に悪影響を与えることがある。具体的には、吸水処理材中の有機物が、特定の微生物の異常な増減を引き起こすことがある。そうなると、浄化槽の機能が損なわれてしまう。
本発明は、上記課題に鑑みてなされたものであり、水洗トイレに流して処分するのに適した吸水処理材を提供することを目的とする。
本発明者らは、鋭意検討の結果、有機物に含まれる栄養素が、浄化槽内の微生物に対して、特に大きな影響を与えることを見出し、本発明を完成するに至った。すなわち、本発明による吸水処理材は、栄養素を含まない有機物のみによって構成されていることを特徴とする。
この吸水処理材は、有機物によって構成されているが、栄養素は一切含んでいない。このため、これを水洗トイレに流した場合であっても、浄化槽内の微生物に対する影響を小さく抑えることができる。
本発明によれば、水洗トイレに流して処分するのに適した吸水処理材が実現される。
以下、図面を参照しつつ、本発明の実施形態について詳細に説明する。

図1は、本発明による吸水処理材の一実施形態を示す模式図である。吸水処理材1は、犬や猫等の愛玩動物用の排泄物処理材であり、粒状芯部10、及び被覆層部20を備えている。被覆層部20は、粒状芯部10を被覆している。本実施形態において被覆層部20は、粒状芯部10の表面全体を覆っている。
この吸水処理材1は、栄養素を含まない有機物のみによって構成されている。すなわち、粒状芯部10を構成する材料(芯部材料)、及び被覆層部20を構成する材料(被覆材料)の何れも、栄養素を含まない有機物に限定されている。
ここで、栄養素とは、たんぱく質、炭水化物、食物繊維、脂質、飽和脂肪酸、n-6系脂肪酸、n-3系脂肪酸、コレステロール、糖類、ビタミンA、ビタミンD、ビタミンE、ビタミンK、ビタミンB1、ビタミンB2、ナイアシン、ビタミンB6、ビタミンB12、葉酸、パントテン酸、ビオチン、ビタミンC、カリウム、カルシウム、マグネシウム、リン、鉄、亜鉛、銅、マンガン、ヨウ素、セレン、クロム、モリブデン、及びナトリウムをいう。

粒状芯部10は、小塊の形状に形成されていればよく、完全な球形等である必要はない。粒状芯部10の形状としては、例えば、柱状体(細長形)、扁平形等が考えられる。また、芯部材料としては、上述のとおり、有機物のうち栄養素を含まないものが用いられる。有機物としては、例えば、紙類、プラスチック類、CMC(カルボキシメチルセルロース)、PVA(ポリビニルアルコール)、ポリアクリル酸ナトリウムが挙げられる。複数の材料を組み合わせて用いてもよい。
紙類としては、バージンパルプはもちろん、各種の廃材等を用いることができる。例えば、薄葉紙廃材、衛生用紙廃材、トイレットペーパー廃材、ティッシュペーパー廃材、化粧紙廃材、ちり紙廃材、紙綿廃材、紙タオル廃材、便座シート廃材、新聞紙屑、雑誌屑、バフ粉(主として印刷会社において、製本の切断時や削り時に発生する微細な紙粉)、機械パルプ廃材、化学パルプ廃材、チタン紙廃材、セミケミカルパルプ廃材、綿状パルプ廃材、木材パルプ廃材、古紙パルプの粉砕物、フラッフパルプ、吸水性繊維廃材、不織布廃材、不織布製造時に発生する紙粉、製紙工程において発生する紙粉、衛生材料製造時に発生する紙粉、ラミネート紙廃材、ラミネート紙の印刷屑、ラミネート紙の端屑、ダンボール屑、損紙(衛生材メーカーで発生するトリムロス、製紙メーカーで発生する紙屑等)、包装紙、板紙、使用済み切符、パンチ屑等が挙げられる。
プラスチック類としては、合成高分子化合物の固形状物質(例えば、ポリプロピレン、塩化ビニル、ポリ塩化ビフェニール、ポリスチレン、ポリアセタール、ポリカーボネート、ポリエチレン、ポリアミド、ポリエチレンテレフタレート、塩化ビニリデン、アクリル樹脂、ポリウレタン(ウレタンフォーム)、生分解性プラスチック等)が挙げられる。プラスチック類として、各種廃材を使用してもよい。例えば、廃プラスチック類、廃ポリウレタン、廃スチロール(発泡スチロールを含む)、廃農業用フィルム、各種合成樹脂系包装材料のくず、廃写真フィルム、廃ポリ容器類、電線の被覆くず、ライニングくず、廃ポリマー、塗料かす、廃ベークランド(プリント基盤等)等が挙げられる。
また、排泄物処理材の廃材のプラスチックに富む分離産物、紙おむつ廃材(衛生材メーカーで発生する規格外品の紙おむつの外装体など)のプラスチックに富む分離産物、生理用ナプキン廃材のプラスチックに富む分離産物、乳パッド廃材のプラスチックに富む分離産物、汗パッド廃材のプラスチックに富む分離産物、失禁パッド廃材のプラスチックに富む分離産物、動物用シーツ廃材のプラスチックに富む分離産物、寝具用シーツ廃材のプラスチックに富む分級等による分離産物、マスク廃材のプラスチックに富む分離産物、アイマスク廃材のプラスチックに富む分離産物、座席用ヘッドカバー廃材のプラスチックに富む分離産物、塩化ビニル壁紙廃材、枕カバー廃材のプラスチックに富む分離産物、合成樹脂繊維廃材等を用いることもできる。

被覆層部20は、使用時に尿等の液体を吸収した吸水処理材1どうしを付着させて塊状にする機能を有する。被覆材料としては、例えば、接着性材料及び紙粉の混合物を用いることができる。ただし、栄養素を含まない有機物に限る。
接着性材料としては、栄養素を含まない有機物である限り、公知の各種の材料を用いることができる。例えば、PVA、ポリアクリル酸ナトリウムが挙げられる。複数の材料を組み合わせて用いてもよい。

吸水処理材1は、有機物によって構成されているが、栄養素は一切含んでいない。このため、吸水処理材1を水洗トイレに流した場合であっても、浄化槽内の微生物に対する影響を小さく抑えることができる。したがって、水洗トイレに流して処分するのに適した吸水処理材1が実現されている。
これに対して、浄化槽内の微生物に対する影響を小さく抑える手段としては、吸水処理材の材料として有機物を用いないことも考えられる。しかしながら、それでは、材料の選択の幅が著しく狭められてしまうという問題がある。
この点、本実施形態においては、公知の有機物の中から、栄養素を含まないものだけを選択して用いることにより、材料選択の幅を過度に狭めることなく、水洗トイレに流して処分するのに適した吸水処理材1を実現している。これは、浄化槽内の微生物に対して特に大きな影響を与えるのは有機物に含まれる栄養素である、という本発明者らの知見に基づくものである。
[製造方法]
[製造方法]
吸水処理材1の製造方法の一例を説明する。この製造方法は、造粒工程、被覆工程、分粒工程、及び乾燥工程を含んでいる。
造粒工程においては、芯部材料を破砕機で所定の大きさに粉砕し、当該粉砕された芯部材料を所定の割合でミキサーに投入して混ぜ合わせる。そして、加水した後、当該芯部材料を造粒機によって押出造粒することにより、粒状芯部10を形成する。
被覆工程においては、コーティング装置等を用いて、粒状芯部10の周囲に被覆材料を散布又は噴霧することにより、被覆層部20を形成する。
分粒工程においては、所定の寸法の篩目を有する篩に、前工程で製造された吸水処理材を通過させることにより、所定の規格を満たす吸水処理材のみを抽出する。
乾燥工程においては、前工程で抽出された吸水処理材を乾燥機で乾燥させる。粒状芯部10の含水率が高過ぎると、吸水処理材1の保存時にカビ等が生じる原因となる。乾燥により、その含水率を適宜調整することにより、カビ等の発生を防ぐことができる。
なお、乾燥工程の後に、香料添加工程を実行してもよい。この工程においては、吸水処理材1の袋詰めに用いられる包装袋内に、香料が入れられる。ただし、香料は、栄養素を含まない有機物に限る。香料は、例えば、空気と共に包装袋内に噴射される。かかる空気の噴射は、包装袋を拡開するために行われるものである。この工程は、吸水処理材1を包装袋に詰める工程(袋詰め工程)よりも先に行われることが好ましい。
上記香料は包装袋内で吸水処理材1に付着するため、芳香性を有する吸水処理材1が得られる。このように包装袋内に香料を入れることにより、それよりも前の工程において製造装置に香料が付着するのを防ぐことができる。したがって、製造後の装置の清掃が容易になる。
香料が空気と共に包装袋内に噴射される場合、包装袋内に空気を噴射するための装置と別に、包装袋内に香料を入れるための装置を設ける必要がない。そのため、製造設備の複雑化を回避しつつ、芳香性を有する吸水処理材1を得ることができる。
香料添加工程が袋詰め工程よりも先に行われる場合、包装袋内の全体に香料が行き渡った状態で吸水処理材1を詰めることができる。そのため、包装袋内の複数の吸水処理材1に万遍なく香料を付着させ易くなる。
また、香料を包装袋内に噴射しているため、香料を包装袋の外で噴射する場合(例えば、包装袋に詰められる前の吸水処理材1に噴射する場合)に比べて、無駄になる香料の量を少なくすることができる。

本発明による吸水処理材は、上記実施形態に限定されるものではなく、様々な変形が可能である。例えば、上記実施形態においては、吸水処理材1が、粒状芯部10及び被覆層部20からなる複層構造である例を示した。しかし、被覆層部20を設けることは、必須ではない。すなわち、吸水処理材1は、単層構造であってもよい。

- 栄養素を含まない有機物のみによって構成されていることを特徴とする吸水処理材。
- 請求項1に記載の吸水処理材において、
粒状芯部と、前記粒状芯部を覆う被覆層部とを備える吸水処理材。
