したがって、本発明は、吸収層に吸収された排泄物がシート表面側に戻るのを抑制することによって、排泄物がシート表面で拡散するのを抑制することができる新規な技術を提供することを目的とする。
本発明では、裏面側被覆シートに疎水性が付与されている。具体的には、裏面側被覆シートは、親水性繊維を疎水化処理したシート、疎水性繊維を親水化処理したシート、疎水性繊維と親水性繊維を混合したシートのうちのいずれかにより構成されている。
親水性繊維としては、例えば、パルプ、レーヨン等が用いられる。親水性繊維を疎水化処理する方法としては、例えば、疎水化剤を散布する方法が用いられる。疎水性繊維としては、例えば、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ポリエチレンテレフタレート等が用いられる。疎水性繊維を親水化処理する方法としては、例えば、親水剤を繊維に練り込む方法や親水剤を塗布する方法等が用いられる。親水性繊維と疎水性繊維を混合する際には、所望の特性を得ることができるように、適宜の割合で混合される。
本発明では、裏面側被覆シートが疎水性を有しているため、吸収層から裏面側被覆シートに移行した排泄物が裏面側被覆シートに沿って広がるのが抑制される。これにより、排泄物が裏面側被覆シートから吸収層を通ってシート表面側に移行するのが抑制され、結果的に、排泄物がシート表面で拡散するのが抑制される。
裏面側被覆シートの液体拡散性(例えば、液体拡散面積)を表面側被覆シートの液体拡散性より低く設定することによって、吸収層で吸収された排泄物が裏面側被覆シートに沿って拡がってシート表面側に逆戻りするのを抑制することができ、結果的に、排泄物がシート表面で拡散するのが抑制される。なお、裏面側被覆シートの液体拡散性と表面側被覆シートの液体拡散性との差が大きい程、吸収層で吸収された排泄物が裏面側被覆シートに沿って拡がってシート表面側に逆戻りするのを抑制することができる効果が高い。
本形態では、裏面側被覆シートの液体拡散性が表面側被覆シートの液体拡散性より低いため、裏面側被覆シートに到達した排泄物が拡散するのを抑制することができる。これにより、裏面側被覆シートで拡散した排泄物がシート表面側に逆戻りし、結果的に、排泄物がシート表面で拡散するのが抑制される。
なお、以下の詳細な説明は、本発明の好ましい適用例を実施するための詳細情報を当業者に教示するに留まり、本発明の技術的範囲は、当該詳細な説明によって制限されず、特許請求の範囲の記載に基づいて定められる。このため、以下の詳細な説明における各構成あるいは各方法は、広義の意味において、本発明を実施するのに全て必須であるというものではなく、本発明の代表的形態を開示するに留まるものである。
表面シート30と裏面シート40は、吸収体20を覆うことができる形状に形成されており、吸収体20を覆った状態で周縁部分が接合されている。
吸収層は、親水性繊維により形成されている第1の吸収層(「吸収体コア層」ともいう)21と、吸水性樹脂により形成されている第2の吸収層(「分散層」ともいう)22を有している。第2の吸収層22は、第1の吸収層21より表面シート30側(上側)に配置されている。
第2の吸収層22は、典型的には、吸水性樹脂を目付が39[g/m2]となるように第1の吸収層21の上面(表面シート30側の表面)に散布して構成される。吸水性樹脂としては、例えば、高吸収性ポリマー(「SAP」ともいう)が用いられる。なお、親水性繊維により形成されている第1の吸収層21の上面に吸水性樹脂を均一に散布する場合、吸水性樹脂が親水性繊維の間に入り込み、第1の吸収層21と第2の吸収層22が完全に分離した状態とならないことがある。
表面側被覆シート23は、典型的には、針葉樹パルプからなるティッシュ(例えば、目付が12~25[g/m2]のティッシュ)によって構成される。裏面側被覆シート24については、後述する。
本実施の形態では、表面側被覆シート23と裏面側被覆シート24によって吸収層を包み込むために、表面側被覆シート23の両端部23aおよび23bが、裏面側被覆シート24の両端部の下方側(裏面シート40側)に折り重ねられている。
(1)ペット用シート上でペットが排泄を行うと、表面シートおよび表面側被覆シート323を透過した排泄物(尿)Xは、先ず、第2の吸収層322において、吸収速度が速い吸水性樹脂に吸収される。
(2)第2の吸収層322の吸水性樹脂で吸収することができなかった排泄物Xは、第1の吸収層321に移行し、裏面側被覆シート324に到達する。
(3)裏面側被覆シート324は、吸収層(第1の吸収層321、第2の吸収層322)に比べて密度が高いため、裏面側被覆シート324に到達した排泄物Xは、毛細管現象により裏面側被覆シート324に沿って広がっていく(拡散していく)。
(4)裏面側被覆シート324内で広がった(拡散した)排泄物Xは、再び吸収層(第1の吸収層321、第2の吸収層322)に吸収され、表面シートに達する。結果的に、シート表面において排泄物が拡散する。
特許文献1に開示されているペットシートでは、親水性繊維により形成される吸収層と裏面側被覆シートの間に、吸水性樹脂により形成されるシートを配置している。
親水性繊維としては、例えば、パルプ、レーヨン等が用いられる。親水性繊維を疎水化処理する方法としては、例えば、疎水化剤を散布する方法等が用いられる。疎水化剤としては、例えば、シリコン等の撥水剤(界面活性剤)が用いられる。
疎水性繊維としては、例えば、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ポリエチレンテレフタレート等が用いられる。疎水性繊維を親水化処理する方法としては、例えば、親水剤を繊維に練り込む方法や親水剤を塗布する方法等が用いられる。
親水性繊維と疎水性繊維を混合する際には、所望の特性を得ることができるように、適宜の割合で混合される。
なお、被覆シートの液体拡散性は、以下のようにして測定する。
(1)直径10cmの容器(ビーカー)にシートを張り、輪ゴムで留める。
(2)ピペッターを用いて、10mm上方から水100μlをシートの中央部に滴下する。
(3)1分経過した時点および5分経過して時点で、シート上の液体の拡がり(液体拡散面積)を測定する。
液体拡体面積は、直接測定することもできるし、測定値から算出することもできる。例えば、MD方向(Machine Direction)の拡散長およびCD方向(Cross Direction)の拡散長を測定する。そして、測定したMD方向拡散長およびCD方向拡散長と以下の計算式を用いて液体拡散面積(cm2)を算出する。
[(MD方向拡散長/2)×(CD方向拡散長/2)×3.14]
(1)ペット用シート10上でペットが排泄を行うと、表面シート30および表面側被覆シート23を透過した排泄物(尿)Xは、先ず、第2の吸収層22において、吸収速度が速い吸水性樹脂に吸収される。
(2)第2の吸収層22の吸水性樹脂で吸収することができなかった排泄物Xは、第1の吸収層21に移行する。
(3)第1の吸収層21に移行した排泄物Xは、さらに移行して裏面側被覆シート24に到達する。本実施の形態では、裏面側被覆シート24の液体拡散性が、表面側被覆シート23の液体拡散性より低く設定されている。このため、裏面側被覆シート24に到達した排泄物Xは、裏面側被覆シート24内で拡がる(拡散する)のが抑制される。そして、裏面側被覆シート24内での排泄物Xの拡がり(拡散)が抑制されている状態で、第2の吸収層22を形成している吸水性樹脂が排泄物Xを徐々に吸収する。これにより、裏面側被覆シート24に到達した排泄物Xがシート表面側に戻ることに起因するシート表面における排泄物の拡散を抑制することができる。
表面側被覆シート23として通常使用されている表面側被覆シートを用いられている場合には、裏面側被覆シート24の拡散面積が20cm2以下に設定することによって、裏面側被覆シート24の液体拡散性を表面側被覆シート23の液体拡散性より低く設定することができる。
このため、1枚のシートでの排泄回数を増大させるためには、排泄物の漏れを防止することよりも、シート表面での排泄物の拡散を防止する方が有効である。
吸収層(第1の吸収層21)と裏面側被覆シート24が接合されている接合領域、また、裏面側被覆シート24と裏面シート40が接合されている接合領域に沿って排泄物が拡散すると、排泄物がシート表面側に戻り、結果としてシート表面で排泄物が拡散することになる。
なお、本実施の形態では、表面シート30と表面側被覆シート23、表面側被覆シート23と吸収層(第2の吸収層22)も、全体にわたって、ホットメルト接着剤を用いて接合されている。
熱溶着接着剤を用いて、全体にわたって接合することにより、吸収体を表面シート30と裏面シート40の間に強固に固定することができ、吸収体の型崩れを防止することができる。
本発明の他の実施の形態のペット用シート110の断面図を図4に示す。
本実施の形態のペット用シート110は、吸収体120の吸収層の構成が異なるだけで、他の構成はペット用シート10と同じである。したがって、吸収体120の構成についてのみ説明する。
吸収層121は、親水性繊維により形成されているとともに、吸水性樹脂により形成される第2の吸収層122が第1の吸収層121内に設けられている。吸収層121を形成する親水性繊維としては、前述した第1の吸収層21を形成する親水性繊維と同じものを用いることができる。また、第2の吸収層122を形成する吸水性樹脂としては、前述した第2の吸収層22を形成する吸水性樹脂と同じものを用いることができる。
本実施の形態のペット用シート110は、前述したペット用シート10と同様の効果を有している。
実施の形態では、吸収層を、パルプ等の親水性繊維により形成される第1の吸収層と吸水性樹脂(SAP)により形成される第2の吸収層により構成したが、第1の吸収層のみで構成することもできる。
第2の吸収層の第1の吸収層に対する配置位置や第2の吸収層の数は、適宜選択することができる。例えば、第1の吸収層の上部と下部に配置する態様、第1の吸収層の上部と内部に配置する態様等を選択することができる。
表面シートと表面側被覆シート、表面側被覆シートと吸収層、吸収層と裏面側被覆シート、裏面側被覆シートと裏面シートを熱溶着性接着剤(ホットメルト接着剤)を用いて接合したが、排泄物が接合部に沿って拡散するのを抑制するには、少なくとも、吸収層と裏面側被覆シート、裏面側被覆シートと裏面シートが熱溶着性接着剤を用いて接合されていればよい。
接合方法としては、熱溶着性接着剤(ホットメルト接着剤)を用いる接合方法以外の方法を用いることもできる。

- 液透過性の表面シートと、液不透過性の裏面シートと、前記表面シートと前記裏面シートの間に配置され、前記表面シートを透過した排泄物を吸収する吸収体を備え、
前記表面シートは、前記裏面シートが載置箇所に載置されている状態で、ペットの排泄物を受けるように構成されているペット用シートであって、
前記吸収体は、吸収層と、前記吸収層より前記表面シート側に配置される表面側被覆シートと、前記吸収層より前記裏面シート側に配置される裏面側被覆シートにより構成されており、
前記裏面側被覆シートは、親水性繊維を疎水化処理したシート、疎水性繊維を親水化処理したシート、疎水性繊維と親水性繊維を混合したシートのうちのいずれかにより構成されていることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項1に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記裏面側被覆シートは、前記表面側被覆シートより液体拡散性が低いことを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項1または2に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記裏面側被覆シートは、疎水化処理が施された紙により構成されていることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項1~3のうちのいずれか一項に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記疎水化処理は、撥水剤を用いて行われることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項1または2に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記裏面側被覆シートは、長繊維を含む不織布により構成されていることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項5に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記裏面側被覆シートは、長繊維とメルトブローン繊維を含む不織布により構成されていることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項1~6のうちのいずれか一項に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記吸収層は、親水性繊維と吸水性樹脂により形成されていることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項7に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記吸収層は、親水性繊維により形成される第1の吸収層と、前記吸水性樹脂により形成される第2の吸収層を有していることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項8に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記第2の吸収層は、前記第1の吸収層より前記表面側被覆シート側に配置されていることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項7~9のうちのいずれか一項に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記親水性繊維としてパルプが用いられていることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項1~10のうちのいずれか一項に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記裏面側被覆シートは、水100μlを滴下してから5分経過後の液体拡散面積が20cm2以下であることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項1~11のうちのいずれか一項に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記吸収層と前記裏面側被覆シートは、全体にわたって、熱溶着性接着剤によって接合されていることを特徴とするペット用シート。 - 請求項1~12のうちのいずれか一項に記載のペット用シートであって、
前記裏面側被覆シートと前記裏面シートは、全体にわたって、熱溶着性接着剤によって接合されていることを特徴とするペット用シート。
