硬水をメスシリンダーに添加するときの様子を図1に示す。図1中、1はメスシリンダー、2は泡、3は硬水の導入手段(手製のジョウロ)、4は該導入手段の開口部であり、図2は硬水の導入手段3の開口部4の穿孔状態を示す概略図である。硬水の導入手段である手製のジョウロの作製方法は、以下の通りである。先ず、250mlのポリプロピレン製広口びん(アズワン製:アイボーイ広口びん)の底部から高さ約3分の1の本体部分迄を切除した。次いで、直径4cmの薄い円状のポリエチレン製板に対して、図2に示すように、9mm間隔で13個の直径2mmの穴を開けたポリエチレン製多孔板を用意した。最後に、切除した広口びん上部のフタ開口部(直径4cm)に対して、上記のポリエチレン製多孔板を開口部4として固定して硬水の導入手段3(手製のジョウロ)を作製した。このようにして作製した硬水の導入手段3(手製のジョウロ)を、図1のように、倒置状態に保ちながら、メスシリンダー1の開口部にはめ込んだ。硬水は広口びんの切除側から投入した。
