  • the holding mechanism provides a greater holding force in the first position of the chair than in the second position of the chair. This could have the advantage of a smaller force, for example a force that is only slightly larger than the force from the weight of the footrest, being required in order to put the chair upright, whereas a somewhat larger force is required in order to adjust the chair away from the upright position.
