このように、従来のディスクドライブ装置では、バックエンドユニットの基板上に実装した構成におけるコネクタなどを、上記ユーザ側に向けられる面に配置する必要がある。このため、バックエンドユニットを不可避的にフロントエンドユニットの周辺に配置しなければならず、バックエンドユニットの設置に位置的な制約があるという課題があった。

また、内蔵ローカルストレージ9Aは、フロントエンドユニット2の基板上に実装した記憶部である。例えば、ハードディスクドライブ(HDD)装置やRAMで実現できる。
図6は、実施の形態3に係るディスクドライブ装置による動作を示すフローチャートである。この図6に沿って実施の形態3におけるローカルストレージへのデータ保存の詳細を説明する。
まず、CPU4aは、CPU4bからのローカルストレージに対するアクセス要求が、データ読み出しであるかデータ書き込みであるかを判定する(ステップST1a)。
例えば、バックエンドユニット3においてBDMVの映像・音声データが再生されて、CPU4bが、BD規格が求めるデータ通信処理や、それに伴うローカルストレージへのアクセスを行った場合に相当する。
この後、CPU4aは、ローカルストレージ9が挿入済みであるか否かを判定する(ステップST3a)。すなわち、ローカルストレージ9がスロットに挿入あるいはコネクタに装着されているかどうかが判定される。
このようにすることで、BDの再生で生じたデータが、ローカルストレージ9と内蔵ローカルストレージ9Aの双方で保存される。
読み出し要求されたデータ(対象情報)がローカルストレージ9にない場合(ステップST8a;NO)、CPU4aは、内蔵ローカルストレージ9Aに保存されているデータのうちから、当該データ読み出す処理を実行する(ステップST9a)。
図7は、この発明の実施の形態4に係るディスクドライブ装置の構成を示す図であり、図1と同一またはこれに相当する構成には同一符号を付して詳細な説明を省略する。
図7において、実施の形態4に係るディスクドライブ装置1Cは、基板構成がフロントエンドユニット2とバックエンドユニット3Aに分割されている。
フロントエンドユニット2の基板には、CPU4a、ディスクドライブ5、メモリ7、およびI/F部10aに加えて、通信部8とローカルストレージ9が配置される。
また、バックエンドユニット3Aの基板には、CPU4bとI/F部10bに加えて、デコーダ11aおよびAV出力部12aからなるデータ再生系統とデコーダ11bおよびAV出力部12bからなるデータ再生系統とが配置される。なお、データ再生系統の数は2以上であればよい。
AV出力部12a,12bは、モニタ13a,13bでデコード結果の映像および音声を出力する。このように、バックエンドユニット3Aにおいて再生系統を二重化することで、映像・音声データの同時デコードまたは同時出力が可能である。
例えば、BDMVの映像・音声データを再生する際に、BD規格が求めるローカルストレージ9へのアクセスを行いながら、同一のローカルストレージ9の別の記憶領域にあるユーザファイルを同時再生する。
この場合、I/F部10a,10bと伝送ケーブル10cにおけるデータの転送レートは、BDMVの再生と、BD規格が求めるローカルストレージ9へのアクセスと、ローカルストレージ9から読み出したユーザファイルの再生のそれぞれを同時に行うために必要な転送レートとする。
また、ローカルストレージ9へのデータ転送レートは、BD規格が求めるローカルストレージ9へのアクセスと、ローカルストレージ9に保存したユーザファイルの再生をそれぞれ同時に行うのに必要な転送レートとする。
Claims (4)
- ディスクドライブおよびこれを制御するフロントエンド制御部を有するフロントエンドユニットと、前記フロントエンドユニットとは別の基板に構成され、当該フロントエンドユニットによって得られたデータを再生するデコーダおよびこれを制御するバックエンド制御部を有するバックエンドユニットとを備えたディスクドライブ装置において、
前記フロントエンドユニットは、
自身が配置された基板上に、前記バックエンド制御部から使用される通信部およびローカルストレージを備え、
前記フロントエンドユニットおよび前記バックエンドユニットは、
前記バックエンド制御部から、前記フロントエンドユニットの前記通信部および前記ローカルストレージにアクセス可能に接続するインタフェース部を備えたことを特徴とするディスクドライブ装置。 - 前記フロントエンドユニットは、自身が配置された基板上に、前記ディスクドライブ、前記通信部および前記ローカルストレージの使用状況に応じて、前記ディスクドライブ、前記通信部および前記ローカルストレージへの電力供給をそれぞれ開閉するスイッチを備えたことを特徴とする請求項1記載のディスクドライブ装置。
- 前記フロントエンドユニットは、自身が配置された基板上に、前記ローカルストレージに保存されたデータをバックアップするローカルストレージをさらに備えたことを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2記載のディスクドライブ装置。
- 前記バックエンドユニットは、自身が配置された基板上に、前記デコーダを含むデータ再生系統を複数備えたことを特徴とする請求項1から請求項3のうちのいずれか1項記載のディスクドライブ装置。
