Definitions
- the present invention relates to a backlight device, a display device including the backlight device, and a television receiver including the display device.
- a display device that does not emit light by itself for example, a display device that uses a liquid crystal display panel, is usually combined with a lighting device that illuminates the display panel from behind.
- Various types of light sources such as cold-cathode tubes and light-emitting elements are used as the light source of this type of lighting device.
- Light emitting elements include light emitting diodes (hereinafter referred to as “LEDs”), organic electroluminescent elements, inorganic electroluminescent elements, and the like, but LEDs are currently the mainstream.
- the light source of the illumination device described in Patent Document 1 is also a high-intensity white LED.
- FIG. 7 shows a configuration example of an LED used for a light source.
- a light reflecting surface 102 for increasing brightness is formed on a substrate 101, and an LED element 103 is fixed on the light reflecting surface 102 by a die attach connection 104.
- wire bonding is performed on the LED element 103 with the gold wire 105 to complete the electrical connection.
- the periphery of the light reflecting surface 102 is surrounded by a reflector 106 made of a synthetic resin having a high light reflectance, and the inside of the reflector 106 is filled with a sealing resin 107 to obtain a completed form.
- the reflecting surface 102 is formed of a material having silver as a constituent element (which is naturally also contained in pure silver). Silver has a very high reflectance of visible light and is 90% or more, so it is suitable for high brightness.
- a light reflecting surface 102 is formed on the substrate 101 by silver plating or silver deposition.
- FIG. 8 shows a group of silver particles (symbolized by an ellipse) over three stages.
- the upper row shows a state in which silver particles formed by silver plating are arranged in an orderly manner.
- a halogen-based material is supplied thereto, some of the silver grains are bonded to the silver-based material, and silver halides such as silver bromide, silver chloride, silver iodide, and silver fluoride are generated.
- the shaded oval in the middle silver particle population symbolizes silver halide.
- Some components of the lighting device in which the LED package 100 is incorporated generate a halogen-based gas when heated.
- the use of materials that generate halogen-based gases is refraining, but halogen-based materials used as flame retardants are difficult to replace. It is not realistic to make it zero.
- the halogen-based gas penetrates the sealing resin 107 of the LED package 100 and reaches the light reflecting surface 102. In some cases, separation occurs at the interface between the sealing resin 107 and the reflector 106, or at the interface between the sealing resin 107 and the substrate 101, and the halogen-based gas enters through the gap. Hydrogen sulfide contained in the atmosphere of hot springs and the like also causes problems similar to halogen-based gases.
- Patent Document 1 discloses a backlight including an LED package having an LED chip and a light reflecting surface containing silver as a raw material, and an optical member that adjusts light emitted from the LED package.
- an optical member having a small halogen emission to the extent that silver halide is not generated on the light reflecting surface is used.
- ⁇ Use of an optical member combined with an LED package that emits a small amount of a halogen-based material not only makes it difficult to select a material, but also often leads to an increase in cost.
- the use of a sealing resin having a low oxygen permeability is also a custom-made part, which increases the price. Coating on the light-reflecting surface also increases costs.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above points, and an object of the present invention is to provide an illumination device that can prevent deterioration of the light reflection surface of the LED package using a relatively inexpensive material.
- an illumination device uses an LED package in which a light reflecting surface is formed of a material containing silver as a light source, and has a silver reflectance around the LED package.
- An adsorbing substance that adsorbs a gas such as a halogen-based gas or hydrogen sulfide having a property of reducing the temperature is disposed.
- the adsorbing material is applied to members around the LED package.
- a breathable container that accommodates the adsorbing substance is attached to a member around the LED package.
- an adhesive sheet containing the adsorbing substance is attached to a member around the LED package.
- the illumination device having the above configuration is used as a backlight device of a display device.
- the LED package irradiates light on an end surface of a light guide plate disposed on a back surface of a display panel of the display device.
- the LED package irradiates the display panel of the display device with light from the back.
- the present invention is a display device including the above-described lighting device and a display panel that receives light from the lighting device.
- the present invention is also characterized in that, in the display device having the above configuration, the display panel is a liquid crystal display panel.
- the present invention is a television receiver including the display device having the above-described configuration.
- an adsorbent that adsorbs gas such as halogen-based gas and hydrogen sulfide having the property of reducing the reflectance of silver is arranged around the LED package, even if such gas is generated, it is adsorbed by the adsorbent. , It does not reach the light reflecting surface formed of a material having silver as a constituent element, and does not deteriorate it. Since the adsorbent is relatively inexpensive, the object of maintaining the reflectance of the light reflecting surface can be achieved without cost.
- FIG. 1 shows the main part of a display device 10 incorporated in a television receiver in the form of a vertical section.
- the display device 10 includes a display panel 11 made of a liquid crystal panel.
- the display panel 11 is vertically supported so as to be sandwiched between a synthetic resin frame 12 and a metal bezel 13.
- the display device 10 is combined with the backlight device 20.
- the backlight device 20 is the illumination device of this embodiment.
- a metal chassis 21 supports the light guide plate 22 and the optical sheet 23 vertically.
- the light guide plate 22 and the optical sheet 23 are disposed on the back surface of the display panel 11.
- the optical sheet 23 includes a reflective sheet.
- a white light emitting LED package 24 is disposed under the light guide plate 22.
- the LED package 24 has the same structure as the conventional LED package shown in FIG. 7, and includes a light reflecting surface made of a material containing silver as a constituent element.
- the LED package 24 is mounted on the substrate 25, and is arranged with the optical axis vertical so that the center of the LED element coincides with the center of the light guide plate 22 in the thickness direction.
- the left-right direction when the display device 10 is viewed from the front is the longitudinal direction of the substrate 25.
- a plurality of LED packages 24 are arranged on the substrate 25 at predetermined intervals along the longitudinal direction.
- the board 25 is held by a metal board holding frame 26 and attached to the chassis 21.
- an adsorbent 30 that adsorbs a gas such as a halogen-based gas or hydrogen sulfide having a property of reducing the reflectance of silver is disposed around the LED package 24.
- the frame 12, the light guide plate 22, the optical sheet 23, the substrate 25, and the like may contain a halogen-based material, and these are the sources of the halogen-based gas.
- a halogen-based material such as potassium permanganate or silica gel can be used as the adsorbent 30 that adsorbs the generated halogen-based gas.
- the adsorbent 30 is mixed with other materials to form a paint, and is applied to the surface of the substrate 25.
- the substrate 25 or in addition to the substrate 25, it may be applied to a place other than the substrate 25.
- the LED package 24 maintains high brightness.
- a silver plating part or a silver deposition part may be formed on the surface of the substrate 25 or other member, and this may be used as an adsorbing substance. Silver at this location combines with the halogen-based gas or hydrogen sulfide before reaching the light reflecting surface inside the LED package 24, and serves as an adsorbent.
- the granular adsorbent 30 is placed in the periphery of the LED package 24 in a synthetic resin container 31.
- the container 31 can be fixed to the substrate 25 or the substrate holding frame 26 with a double-sided tape or the like.
- the container 31 is formed with a vent hole 32 made up of a collection of small holes, and thus the container 31 is breathable.
- the halogen-based gas enters the container 31 through the vent hole 32 and is adsorbed by the adsorbing material 30.
- a container or bag may be formed of a material having air permeability such as paper, cloth, or non-woven fabric, and an adsorbent may be placed therein.
- the form of the adsorbing material 30 is not limited to a granular shape. It may be gel or paste.
- the adsorbing substance 30 is mixed with other materials and formed into a sheet.
- An adhesive layer 33 is formed on one side of the sheet to form an adhesive sheet.
- the backlight device 20 does not include a light guide plate.
- the LED package 24 irradiates the display panel 11 with light from the back through an optical sheet 27 including a diffusion plate and the like.
- the LED package 24 is attached to the inner surface of the tray-shaped chassis 28, and the adsorbent 30 is applied to the inner surface of the chassis 28.
- an adsorbent arrangement method such as that of the second embodiment or the third embodiment may be adopted.
- FIG. 6 shows the experimental results of examining the influence of the presence or absence of the adsorbent on the light reflecting surface.
- an LED package using a resin having a high gas barrier property as a sealing resin sulfurization countermeasure product
- an LED package using a general grade sealing resin conventional product
- the type of the sealing resin is silicone.
- Two sets of 5 anti-sulfur products and 5 conventional products were prepared. Both sets were stored for 2 weeks in an environment where the temperature was 25 ° C. and the hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) concentration was about 0.1 ppm.
- silver vapor deposition was given to the board
- the thickness of the deposition was 10 microns or less, and the deposition range was 50% or more of the substrate surface.
- the other set was not silver deposited.
- the vertical axis of the graph in FIG. 6 represents the rate of change in luminance of the LED package.
- the luminance hardly decreased even after 2 weeks.
- the luminance decreased by about 10% after 2 weeks.
- Silicone used as a sealing resin is a general term for artificial polymer compounds having a main skeleton with a siloxane bond, and includes phenyl-based silicones containing phenyl groups and methyl-based silicones containing methyl groups. Phenyl silicone has a lower gas permeability than methyl silicone and is suitable as a gas barrier. On the other hand, phenyl-based silicones have the disadvantage that they have lower heat / light resistance than methyl-based silicones, and are liable to cause a decrease in luminance due to heat.
