Abstract
燃料2に含まれる金属イオンを除去するための金属イオン除去フィルタ14に関し、燃料タンク1からインジェクタ5に到る燃料供給経路の途中(送り配管9)に、イオン交換により金属イオンを吸着するイオン交換樹脂15を内部に充填したフィルタ本体16を配設すると共に、インジェクタ5で余剰した燃料2を燃料タンク1に戻す燃料戻し経路(戻り配管13)を前記フィルタ本体16を経由させて前記イオン交換樹脂15を戻り燃料2の廃熱により加熱し得るように構成する。
Description
本発明は、金属イオン除去フィルタに関するものである。
従来より、エンジンの燃料噴射系にあっては、燃料中に金属イオンが含まれていた場合に、該金属イオンと燃料中の成分とが塩反応を起こして固形物の金属塩が生成されてしまうことが知られており、このような固形物の金属塩を放置してしまうと、インジェクタ等の摺動部で作動不良を引き起こしたり、燃料の流れを詰まらせてしまったりする虞れがあるため、燃料噴射系を成す材質の選定やその表面処理に工夫を施して金属イオンが燃料中に極力入り込まないようにしている。
ただし、品質の劣る燃料に初めから金属成分が含まれているような場合には、前記燃料中での塩反応による固形物の生成が避けられないため、燃料タンクからインジェクタに到る燃料供給路の途中に金属イオン除去フィルタを備え、該金属イオン除去フィルタにより燃料中の金属イオンを除去するようにしている。
尚、この種の金属イオン除去フィルタに関連する先行技術文献情報としては下記の特許文献1等がある。
しかしながら、従来における金属イオン除去フィルタは、イオン交換樹脂を水溜め部に水没させておき、この水没させたイオン交換樹脂に燃料を通して金属成分を水に溶け出させ、その水に溶け出した金属イオンをイオン交換樹脂に吸着させて除去するようにしているため、燃料を水中に潜らせるような操作が必要となり、金属イオン除去フィルタを経た燃料が水を含んだままエンジンまで導かれることが懸念された。
また、このように燃料を水中に潜らせることなく金属イオンを除去するためには、イオン交換樹脂をヒータにより加熱してイオン交換の反応速度を上げてから燃料を直接通すという手法があるが、このようにする場合には、イオン交換樹脂を加熱するための容量の大きなヒータが必要となるという問題もあった。
本発明は上述の実情に鑑みてなしたもので、ヒータを用いることなくイオン交換樹脂を加熱してイオン交換の反応速度を上げ、該イオン交換樹脂に燃料を直接通して金属イオンを除去し得るようにした金属イオン除去フィルタを提供することを目的とする。
本発明は、燃料に含まれる金属イオンを除去するための金属イオン除去フィルタであって、燃料タンクからインジェクタに到る燃料供給経路の途中に、イオン交換により金属イオンを吸着するイオン交換樹脂を内部に充填したフィルタ本体を配設すると共に、インジェクタで余剰した燃料を燃料タンクに戻す燃料戻し経路を前記フィルタ本体を経由させて前記イオン交換樹脂を戻り燃料の廃熱により加熱し得るように構成したことを特徴とするものである。
而して、このようにすれば、インジェクタから燃料タンクに戻る温度の高い燃料とフィルタ本体内部のイオン交換樹脂とを熱交換させ、戻り燃料が有する廃熱を有効に利用してイオン交換樹脂を加熱することが可能となるので、イオン交換樹脂におけるイオン交換の反応速度が上がり、燃料供給経路の燃料がフィルタ本体の内部を通過して流れる際に、燃料中の金属成分がイオン交換によりイオン交換樹脂に吸着され、金属成分が除去された燃料がインジェクタへと導かれることになる。
また、燃料戻し経路には、燃料タンクに戻される燃料を冷却して燃料タンク内の高温化を防ぐ燃料クーラが装備されているのが一般的であるが、この燃料クーラより上流でフィルタ本体を経由するように構成すれば、燃料クーラで冷却される前の燃料から効率良く廃熱を回収することが可能であり、しかも、燃料クーラの熱負荷を下げることが可能となる。
上記した本発明の金属イオン除去フィルタによれば、下記の如き種々の優れた効果を奏し得る。
(I)インジェクタからの戻り燃料が有する廃熱を有効に利用してヒータを用いることなくイオン交換樹脂を加熱し、これによりイオン交換の反応速度が上がったイオン交換樹脂に燃料を直接通すことで燃料中から金属イオンを除去することができるので、ヒータの付帯装備により金属イオン除去フィルタが大型化して搭載性の悪化を招いたり、前記ヒータの加熱に電力が必要となってバッテリの負担が大きくなるといった問題を解消することができると共に、燃料を水中に潜らせるような操作を不要として金属イオン除去フィルタを経た燃料が水を含んだままエンジンまで導かれる虞れを確実に払拭することができる。
(II)燃料戻し経路を燃料クーラより上流でフィルタ本体を経由するように構成すれば、燃料クーラで冷却される前の燃料から効率良く廃熱を回収することができ、しかも、燃料クーラの熱負荷を下げることができて該燃料クーラの小容量化を図ることができる。
以下本発明の実施の形態を図面を参照しつつ説明する。
図1は本発明の一実施例を示すもので、図1は一般的なコモンレール式の燃料噴射装置に本発明の金属イオン除去フィルタを適用した例を模式的に示したものであり、ここに図示している例では、燃料タンク1内の燃料2が燃料ポンプ3により加圧されるようになっている。
この燃料ポンプ3は、エンジン出力により駆動されるもので、要求される所定圧力に燃料2を昇圧した上でコモンレール4に供給して蓄圧状態で貯留させ得るようにしてあり、このコモンレール4内の燃料2は、エンジンの各気筒毎に装備された複数のインジェクタ5に向け供給されて前記各気筒内に噴射されるようになっている。
また、前記コモンレール4からインジェクタ5に供給された燃料のうち、各気筒への噴射に費やされなかった余剰の燃料2は、各インジェクタ5から戻り燃料2として燃料タンク1へ戻されるようになっている。
ここで、燃料タンク1からインジェクタ5に到る燃料供給経路は、燃料タンク1内の燃料2をプレフィルタ6を介して燃料ポンプ3に送る送り配管7と、燃料ポンプ3に送り込まれた燃料2を燃料フィルタ8を経由させてから再び回収する送り配管9と、前記燃料フィルタ8を経由した燃料2をコモンレール4へ送り出す送り配管10と、コモンレール4から燃料2をインジェクタ5へ送り出す送り配管11とにより構成されており、インジェクタ5で余剰した燃料2を燃料クーラ12を介して燃料タンク1に戻す燃料戻し経路が戻り配管13により構成されている。
そして、本実施例にあっては、前記送り配管9における燃料フィルタ8の下流側に金属イオン除去フィルタ14が配設されており、この金属イオン除去フィルタ14は、イオン交換により金属イオンを吸着する粒状のイオン交換樹脂15を内部に充填したフィルタ本体16に対し、前記戻り配管13の燃料クーラ12より上流の部分を入り込ませて前記イオン交換樹脂15の中を経由させた構造となっていて、前記イオン交換樹脂15を戻り燃料2の廃熱により加熱し得るようにしてある。
而して、このようにすれば、インジェクタ5から燃料タンク1に戻る温度の高い燃料2とフィルタ本体16内部のイオン交換樹脂15とを熱交換させ、戻り燃料2が有する廃熱を有効に利用してイオン交換樹脂15を加熱することが可能となるので、イオン交換樹脂15におけるイオン交換の反応速度が上がり、送り配管9の燃料2がフィルタ本体16の内部を通過して流れる際に、燃料2中の金属成分がイオン交換によりイオン交換樹脂15に吸着され、金属成分が除去された燃料2がインジェクタ5へと導かれることになる。
従って、上記実施例によれば、インジェクタ5からの戻り燃料2が有する廃熱を有効に利用してヒータを用いることなくイオン交換樹脂15を加熱し、これによりイオン交換の反応速度が上がったイオン交換樹脂15に燃料2を直接通すことで燃料2中から金属イオンを除去することができるので、ヒータの付帯装備により金属イオン除去フィルタ14が大型化して搭載性の悪化を招いたり、前記ヒータの加熱に電力が必要となってバッテリの負担が大きくなるといった問題を解消することができると共に、燃料2を水中に潜らせるような操作を不要として金属イオン除去フィルタ14を経た燃料2が水を含んだままエンジンまで導かれる虞れを確実に払拭することができる。
また、戻り配管13が燃料クーラ12より上流でフィルタ本体16を経由するように構成されているので、燃料クーラ12で冷却される前の燃料2から効率良く廃熱を回収することができ、しかも、燃料クーラ12の熱負荷を下げることができて該燃料クーラ12の小容量化を図ることができる。
尚、本発明の金属イオン除去フィルタは、上述の実施例にのみ限定されるものではなく、送り配管7におけるプレフィルタ6の下流側に、金属イオン除去フィルタ14を同様に設けても良く、また、この金属イオン除去フィルタ14をプレフィルタ6や燃料フィルタ8等の燃料2中の異物を除去するフィルタ類と一体的に構成することも可能であること、また、フィルタ本体16の外表面に戻り配管13を接触させたり、熱交換器を介在させたりして、イオン交換樹脂15と戻り燃料2との熱交換を図るようにしても良いこと、その他、本発明の要旨を逸脱しない範囲内において種々変更を加え得ることは勿論である。

Claims (2)
- 燃料に含まれる金属イオンを除去するための金属イオン除去フィルタであって、燃料タンクからインジェクタに到る燃料供給経路の途中に、イオン交換により金属イオンを吸着するイオン交換樹脂を内部に充填したフィルタ本体を配設すると共に、インジェクタで余剰した燃料を燃料タンクに戻す燃料戻し経路を前記フィルタ本体を経由させて前記イオン交換樹脂を戻り燃料の廃熱により加熱し得るように構成した金属イオン除去フィルタ。
- 燃料戻し経路が燃料クーラより上流でフィルタ本体を経由するように構成されている請求項1に記載の金属イオン除去フィルタ。
