- the segments 400A and 400B of the electrode assembly may have a woven arrangement intersecting each other as a string and a blade. Since the woven arrangement has a plate-like structure, it is easy to deform, such as rolling, folding or bending, to provide a battery having various shapes. In addition, the woven arrangement also has the advantage of easy penetration of the electrolyte into the space between the segments as described with reference to Figure 3a.
- the segments 400A and 400B of the electrode assembly may have an arrangement in which a string and a blade are reciprocated through the separator 30 and interweave with each other.
- the insulation between the segments may be improved by the separator 30 and the mechanical strength of the electrode assembly may be improved.
- 5A and 5B show yet other ordered arrangements of segments 500A and 500B of the electrode assembly.
- segments 500A and 500B of the electrode assembly may extend side by side in one direction within a virtual plane.
- the imaginary plane of the segments 500A, 500B extending side by side may be two or more as shown, and the extending direction of the segments 500A, 500B in each imaginary plane may be different.
- the segments 500A in one virtual plane may intersect with a difference of 90 ° with the direction of extension of the segments 500B in the other plane.
- the spacing between segments 500A, 500B may be zero or may have any size, such as 5 ⁇ m to thousands of ⁇ m, which may provide moldability of the cell.
- the separator 30 may be further disposed between planes of the segments 500A and 500B extending side by side.
- imaginary planes of the segments 500A and 500B extending side by side are contained in the separation matrix 30.
- the separation matrix 30 may be formed of the same material as the separation membranes 30 of FIG. 5A.
- the separation matrix 30 only needs to have a thickness that can contain at least two, virtual planes of the segments 500A, 500B.
- first align the segments 500A, 500B inside the separation matrix 30 first align the segments 500A, 500B in the solution to be the separation matrix, and then harden the solution to provide the arrangement shown.
- the segments 500A, 500B extending through the separation matrix 30 need not necessarily be coplanar and can be arranged in disorder.
- the electrode assembly made of the above-described structures can be easily changed in shape and variously select the length, number, shape, and electrical connections of the segments for adjusting the capacity of the battery.
- 6 is a cross sectional view schematically illustrating a forming process of an arrangement of segments of an electrode assembly; Referring to FIG. 6, the arrangement of the segments may be modified in a manner such as stacking, bending, and winding because of the ease of forming the fibrous structure, thereby providing cells 1000A, 1000B, and 1000C having various volumes and shapes. .
- the positive or negative electrode of the electrode assembly 600 in the case CS provides the external electrodes (+,-) of the battery.
- the batteries 1000A, 1000B, and 1000C can be applied as small batteries that can be attached to clothes, bags, or the like, or can be integrated with cloths of clothes and bags, or can be applied as medium-large batteries such as power sources of automobiles.
