Definitions
- the present invention relates to a tungsten oxide photocatalyst modified with a copper ion that has been subjected to a chemical etching treatment and exhibits a higher catalytic activity under irradiation with visible light, and a method for producing the same.
- Titanium oxide is a substance widely known as a photocatalyst, but it hardly functions in a place without ultraviolet rays. Therefore, research on tungsten oxide is widely performed.
- a catalyst having a promoter supported on a tungsten oxide surface has been proposed.
- those carrying platinum can exhibit photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
- supported palladium can express high activity with respect to toluene decomposition reaction (refer patent document 2).
- it is desirable not to use such noble metals because of their scarcity and high cost.
- what carried copper which is a comparatively cheap metal as a copper ion or copper oxide can express the photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation (for example, refer nonpatent literature 1 and patent documents 3).
- Patent Document 4 describes that photocatalytic activity is improved by etching the catalyst surface by photoetching by ultraviolet light irradiation.
- this method is not preferable because it requires introduction of an ultraviolet ray generator or the like and it is difficult to synthesize a large amount.
- Patent Document 5 discloses a method for producing a photocatalyst in which fine particles of gold and / or transition metal and / or rare earth element are supported on a metal oxide, which is treated with ammonia, and then fired. However, in the photocatalyst obtained by this method, discoloration occurred and sufficient activity could not be obtained.
- the present invention has been made under such circumstances, tungsten oxide modified with copper ions, which is less discolored under use conditions, has high productivity, and can exhibit high catalytic activity under irradiation with visible light. It aims at providing a photocatalyst and its manufacturing method.
- the inventors of the present invention performed chemical etching treatment and drying treatment with a basic aqueous solution when producing a tungsten oxide photocatalyst modified with copper ions. It has been found that the change rate of the diffuse reflectance is less than 10% before and after the ultraviolet irradiation in the atmosphere, and the catalytic activity is improved as compared with the conventional one even under the visible light irradiation. The present invention has been completed based on such findings.
- the present invention [1] Modified with copper ions, characterized by being chemically etched with a basic aqueous solution and having a change rate of diffuse reflectance (wavelength: 700 nm) before and after ultraviolet irradiation in the air of less than 10% Tungsten oxide photocatalyst, [2] The tungsten oxide photocatalyst modified with the copper ion according to the above [1], wherein the copper ion is derived from copper (II) chloride, [3] The tungsten oxide photocatalyst modified with copper ions according to the above [1] or [2], which is modified with 0.01 to 0.06% by mass of copper ions in terms of metal, [4] The tungsten oxide photocatalyst modified with copper ions according to any one of the above [1] to [3], wherein the BET specific surface area after the chemical etching treatment is 9.0 m 2 / g or more, [5] A copper ion modifying step for modifying copper ions,
- a copper oxide-modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst (hereinafter referred to as copper ion-modified tungsten oxide) that is less discolored under use conditions, has high productivity, and can exhibit high catalytic activity under visible light irradiation. And may be referred to as a photocatalyst), and a method for producing the same.
- 2 is an electron micrograph of the copper ion-modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst of Example 1.
- 2 is a diffuse reflection spectrum of a copper ion-modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst of Comparative Example 1. It is a diffuse reflection spectrum after ultraviolet irradiation of the copper ion modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst of Example 1 and the copper ion modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst of Comparative Example 1.
- the copper ion modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst of the present invention is chemically etched with a basic aqueous solution, and the change rate of diffuse reflectance (wavelength: 700 nm) before and after ultraviolet irradiation in the atmosphere is less than 10%. It is a copper ion modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst (hereinafter, sometimes referred to as “etched copper ion modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst”) that is characterized by being chemically etched.
- a photocatalyst has a semiconductor property, and holes and electrons generated by absorbing light having a band gap or more are consumed by a chemical reaction.
- a copper ion modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst subjected to chemical etching is appropriately referred to as a “treated copper ion modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst”.
- tungsten oxide powder is obtained by using a copper divalent salt (such as copper chloride, copper acetate, copper sulfate, copper nitrate), preferably copper chloride (II). Can be added to a polar solvent, mixed, dried, and copper ions are supported on the tungsten oxide surface.
- the amount of modification with copper ions is preferably 0.01 to 0.06% by mass, more preferably 0.02 to 0.06% by mass in terms of metal (Cu) with respect to tungsten oxide. Most preferably, it is ⁇ 0.04 mass%.
- the modification amount is 0.01% by mass or more, the photocatalytic ability when used as a photocatalyst can be improved. By being 0.06 mass% or less, aggregation of copper ions hardly occurs, and the photocatalytic ability when used as a photocatalyst can be prevented from being lowered.
- the said tungsten oxide powder may contain about 0.001 mass% of impurities, such as iron and molybdenum, respectively, such tungsten oxide powder can also be used in this invention.
- etching treatment means a treatment for dissolving and removing at least a part of the catalyst surface.
- dissolution removal includes local removal at the atomic level. Specifically, fine concave portions are formed on the catalyst surface, are uneven, or are scraped off.
- Such an etched region may be at least part of the surface of the photocatalyst, and may not be dissolved and removed over the entire surface of the catalyst. This increases the specific surface area of the photocatalyst and exposes a new active surface. As a result, the photocatalytic activity is improved.
- the progress of etching can be confirmed by the nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (BET specific surface area) of the tungsten oxide after the etching treatment by the BET method. That is, if the BET specific surface area of the tungsten oxide after the treatment is slightly increased from that before the etching treatment, the tungsten oxide is etched.
- the increase rate of the specific surface area is preferably 1% to 35%, more preferably 1 to 15%, further preferably 2 to 15%, most preferably 2 to 7%. preferable.
- An increase of 1% or more is preferable because the adsorption performance of the reaction substrate is improved and the photocatalytic function is increased.
- the etching process is performed to exceed 35%, the recovery rate of tungsten oxide may be drastically reduced.
- the BET specific surface area after the etching treatment is preferably 9.0 m 2 / g or more, and more preferably 9.5 m 2 / g or more.
- the BET specific surface area is 9.0 m 2 / g or more, the recombination probability of photogenerated electrons and holes decreases, so that the photocatalytic activity can be improved.
- the progress of etching can also be confirmed by observation with an electron microscope.
- the catalyst particles have irregularities with an elevation difference of 20 nm or less that are not seen before the etching treatment, the catalyst particles are etched.
- the formation of irregularities means that the photocatalytic function is improved by increasing the active points due to the exposure of new lattice planes.
- the detail of the chemical etching process by basic aqueous solution is demonstrated in the manufacturing method of the below-mentioned copper ion modification tungsten oxide photocatalyst.
- the copper ion-modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst subjected to chemical etching needs to have a change rate of diffuse reflectance (wavelength: 700 nm) before and after ultraviolet irradiation in the air of less than 10%.
- the rate of change is 10% or more, the effect of improving the catalytic activity by the chemical etching treatment is not sufficiently exhibited.
- the rate of change is preferably 6% or less, and more preferably 3% or less.
- the photocatalyst powder on the petri dish is irradiated with ultraviolet rays having a center wavelength of 365 nm at an illuminance of 1 mW / cm 2 for 72 hours.
- the illuminance is measured with LX-1332 manufactured by Custom.
- the diffuse reflectance at a wavelength of 700 nm is measured with a spectrophotometer for the copper ion-modified titanium oxide photocatalyst powder that has been etched or not etched before and after UV irradiation.
- the change rate of the diffuse reflectance measured at the wavelength of 700 nm measured as described above is less than 10%, there is no photosensitive property, and if it is less than 6%, the color tone is not changed at all. Therefore, it is more preferable.
- a change in color tone is undesirable because it changes or detracts from the aesthetics when adapting to materials such as wallpaper.
- Photosensitive properties change the color of the catalyst itself and cause a change in the state of the supported copper ions. And since the change in the state of the supported copper ions leads to a decrease in the catalytic function, it is not desirable.
- Patent Document 4 describes the following mechanism. That is, the photoreaction efficiency of the catalyst can be greatly improved by subjecting only a partial region of the catalyst surface to etching or the like to make the energy band of the photocatalyst particles asymmetric.
- the photoreaction efficiency can be improved for the reasons described above. Furthermore, it is estimated that the formation of the surface concavo-convex structure can suppress diffusion and aggregation of copper ions due to external energy such as light energy and can impart non-photosensitive characteristics.
- the method for producing a copper-modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst of the present invention includes a copper ion modification step for modifying copper ions in the tungsten oxide powder, and chemical etching treatment of the tungsten oxide powder with a basic aqueous solution before or after the copper ion modification step. And a chemical etching process to be performed, and a drying process in which drying is performed at 200 ° C. or lower after these processes.
- a copper ion modification step for modifying copper ions in the tungsten oxide powder
- chemical etching treatment of the tungsten oxide powder with a basic aqueous solution before or after the copper ion modification step.
- a chemical etching process to be performed and a drying process in which drying is performed at 200 ° C. or lower after these processes.
- the copper ion modification step for modifying the tungsten oxide powder with copper ions is as described in the description of the treated copper ion modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst.
- the basic aqueous solution used as an etchant includes sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, potassium hydroxide aqueous solution, calcium hydroxide aqueous solution, lime water, sodium carbonate aqueous solution, ammonia aqueous solution, triethylamine aqueous solution, pyridine aqueous solution, ethylenediamine aqueous solution, Examples thereof include an aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate solution. Of these, an aqueous ammonia solution or an aqueous triethylamine solution is preferred in view of the removal of contamination that causes a decrease in catalyst activity.
- the pH of the basic aqueous solution is preferably 8.5 to 10.5, more preferably 9.2 to 10.5, from the viewpoint of obtaining good catalytic activity. Moreover, the surface of tungsten oxide can be efficiently etched by setting pH to 8.5 or more. If the pH is more than 10.5, the amount of tungsten oxide dissolved is increased, and the recovered amount may be remarkably reduced.
- the pH of the basic aqueous solution can be set to a desired value by adjusting the concentration of the alkaline component to be used (alkaline components such as ammonia, sodium hydroxide, triethylamine, etc.).
- Etching with an etchant may be performed before or after modification with copper ions, but is preferably performed after modification.
- Etching treatment after modification is preferable because the supported copper ions function as a masking agent and a concavo-convex structure is easily obtained.
- This etching treatment time is preferably 1 hour or longer. By processing for 1 hour or more, uniform etching can be performed. When etched, stripes with a width of 20 nm or less can be seen by SEM (see FIG. 1 of Example 1). In addition, the BET specific surface area is increased, and the performance as a photocatalyst is improved.
- drying process After passing through the copper ion modification step and the chemical etching step, drying is performed at 200 ° C. or lower. When it exceeds 200 ° C., the surface state of the catalyst obtained by chemical etching changes, and the photocatalytic activity becomes low.
- the drying temperature is preferably 180 ° C. or lower, and more preferably 150 ° C. or lower.
- the copper ion-modified tungsten oxide photocatalyst of the present invention thus obtained can be used in various forms, but is preferably used in a powder form.

- the photocatalytic activity in the present invention includes functions such as antibacterial, antiviral, deodorant, antifouling, air purification, water purification and the like. Specifically, the following functions can be exemplified, but not particularly limited thereto.
- a xenon lamp equipped with a filter (trade name: L-42 Asahi Techno Glass) that cuts off ultraviolet rays having a wavelength of 400 nm or less was used as a light source.
- the evolution rate of carbon dioxide which is an oxidative decomposition product of acetaldehyde, was measured over time by gas chromatography.

Abstract

Y(%)=[(A-B)/A]×100 ・・・(1)
酸化タングステン粉末500gを塩化銅水溶液4L(酸化タングステンに対して銅として0.1質量%相当)に添加した。
