この問題の解決のために、着信報知音を時間的に徐々に増大させる方法(例えば、特許文献1参照)、着信報知振動を徐々に増大させる方法(例えば、特許文献2参照)、またはこれらを組合せる方法(例えば、特許文献3および4参照)が提案されている。また、イベントを報知する装置を、ユーザの手首等に装着させ、この装置から低周波の電気的刺激を人体(ユーザ)に付与する方法が提案されている(特許文献5参照)。なお、前述の着信報知音を時間的に徐々に増大させる方法を、Ramped Ringerという。

図1に、本実施形態のイベント報知装置の一例の構成を示す。図示のとおり、このイベント報知装置10は、報知イベント検出手段11と、刺激制御手段12と、刺激提示手段13と、伝達手段14とを含む。前記報知イベント検出手段11は、前記刺激制御手段12に電気的に接続されている。前記刺激制御手段12は、前記刺激提示手段13に電気的に接続されている。前記刺激提示手段13は、前記伝達手段14に電気的に接続されている。
本実施形態のイベント報知装置では、イベントが発生していない状態で、まず、前記刺激制御手段12は、前記刺激提示手段13に、ユーザに刺激を提示する制御を行う刺激提示データbを、電気的信号として出力する(刺激提示データ出力ステップ、図2のステップS201、以下、図番号省略)。前記刺激提示手段13は、前記刺激提示データbを受け取り、刺激を発生させて、前記伝達手段14に、発生させた刺激を提示する(刺激提示ステップ)。前記伝達手段14は、前記提示されている刺激を、ユーザに伝達して提示する(提示刺激伝達ステップ)。図2では、前記刺激提示ステップと前記提示刺激伝達ステップとを合わせて、ステップS202としている。イベントの発生が無い場合(No)には、前記ステップS201および前記S202を繰り返し、この状態を保持する。
前述のように、ユーザに刺激が提示されている状態で、イベントが発生した場合(Yes)には、前記報知イベント検出手段11は、このイベントを検出する。報知イベント検出手段11は、前記イベントを検出すると、前記刺激制御手段12に、報知データaを、電気的信号として出力する(ステップS203)。
前記刺激制御手段12は、前記報知データaを受け取り、前記ユーザに提示されている刺激を除去する制御を行う刺激除去データcを、前記刺激提示手段13に、電気的信号として出力する(刺激除去データ出力ステップ、ステップS204)。前記刺激提示手段13は、前記刺激除去データcを受け取り、前記提示されている刺激を除去する(刺激除去ステップ)。前記伝達手段14は、前記刺激の除去をユーザに伝達して、ユーザに提示されている刺激を除去する(刺激除去伝達ステップ)。図2では、前記刺激除去ステップと前記刺激除去伝達ステップとを合わせて、ステップS205としている。
また、本実施形態のイベント報知装置では、前述のように、刺激を除去することで、イベントを報知するので、ユーザに不快感を与えないだけでなく、例えば、ユーザは開放感を感じることができる。また、本実施形態のイベント報知装置では、従来のように、イベントの報知に際して、音や振動等を増大させないため、例えば、周囲の人をも驚かせ、または不快感を与えることもない。

図6に、本実施形態のイベント報知装置の一例の構成を示す。同図において、図1と同一部分には同一符号を付している。図6に示すとおり、このイベント報知装置60は、タイマ管理手段65をさらに含むこと以外は、実施形態1のイベント報知装置と同様の構成を有する。すなわち、このイベント報知装置60は、報知イベント検出手段11と、刺激制御手段12と、刺激提示手段13と、伝達手段14と、タイマ管理手段65とを含む。前記タイマ管理手段65は、前記刺激制御手段12に電気的に接続されている。
本実施形態のイベント報知装置では、前記刺激提示ステップにおいて、前記タイマ管理手段65は、前記刺激制御手段12に、提示されている刺激に対するユーザの順応時間を管理するインターバルデータdを、電気的信号として出力する(図7のステップS701)。図4に基づき、前記順応時間を説明する。前記順応時間とは、ユーザが提示された刺激に慣れる(順応する)までの時間(Δt)である。前記Δtは、前記刺激が圧刺激である場合には、例えば、下記式(III)で表される。すなわち、前記順応時間は、圧刺激の刺激量に比例し、圧刺激面積に反比例する。

この順応時間を、各時間ステップで設定される時間とすることができる。このようにすることで、ユーザは提示されている刺激に慣れ、刺激があることに気付かなくなる。このため、本実施形態のイベント報知装置では、前記イベント報知準備ステップにおいて、さらにユーザに気付かれることなく刺激を提示することができる。
図9に、本実施形態のイベント報知装置の一例の構成を示す。同図において、図6と同一部分には同一符号を付している。図9に示すとおり、このイベント報知装置90は、刺激状態検出手段96をさらに含むこと以外は、実施形態2のイベント報知装置と同様の構成を有する。すなわち、このイベント報知装置90は、報知イベント検出手段11と、刺激制御手段12と、刺激提示手段13と、伝達手段14と、タイマ管理手段65と、刺激状態検出手段96とを含む。前記刺激状態検出手段96は、前記刺激制御手段12と前記刺激提示手段13とに電気的に接続されている。
本実施形態のイベント報知装置では、ユーザに刺激が提示されている状態において、前記刺激状態検出手段96は、前記刺激提示手段13における刺激の提示状態を検出する。そして、この検出結果を基に、前記刺激状態検出手段96は、前記刺激制御手段12に、前記刺激提示手段13を正確に制御するためのフィードバックデータeを、電気的信号として出力する(図10のステップS1001)。このようにすることで、例えば、ユーザに提示される刺激の精度を向上させることができる。
図11に、本実施形態のイベント報知装置の一例の構成を示す。同図において、図9と同一部分には同一符号を付している。図11に示すとおり、このイベント報知装置110は、外部刺激検出手段117をさらに含むこと以外は、実施形態3のイベント報知装置と同様の構成を有する。すなわち、このイベント報知装置110は、報知イベント検出手段11と、刺激制御手段12と、刺激提示手段13と、伝達手段14と、タイマ管理手段65と、刺激状態検出手段96と、外部刺激検出手段117とを含む。前記外部刺激検出手段117は、前記刺激制御手段12に電気的に接続されている。
本実施形態のイベント報知装置では、前記外部刺激検出手段117は、装置外部からの刺激を検出する。そして、この検出結果を基に、前記外部刺激検出手段117は、前記刺激制御手段12に、前記刺激提示データbを出力するタイミングを調整する準備開始タイミングデータfを、電気的信号として出力する(図12のステップS1201)。このようにすることで、例えば、ユーザが端末に接触する時、ユーザが端末を装着する時、ユーザが端末を操作する時等の私生活での騒音、振動、圧力等に紛れ込ませて、ユーザへの刺激の提示を開始することができる。このため、例えば、準備開始時の初期の刺激を大きくすることができ、この結果、例えば、前記イベント報知準備ステップの時間を短くすることができる。
図13に、本実施形態のイベント報知装置の一例の構成を示す。図13(a)は、このイベント報知装置の断面図であり、図13(b)は、同底面図である。本実施形態のイベント報知装置は、前述の実施形態4のイベント報知装置を具体化した装置の一例であり、腕巻き型の装置である。図示のとおり、このイベント報知装置130は、送受信部131(報知イベント検出手段)と、制御部132と、刺激提示アクチュエータ133(刺激提示手段)と、移動伝達部134aと、ガイド134bと、バンド部134cと、検出部137と、表示部138と、外装筐体139とを含む。なお、以下、刺激提示アクチュエータについては、単にアクチュエータという。前記送受信部131、前記制御部132および前記アクチュエータ133は、前記外装筐体139内に配置されている。前記バンド部134cは、前記外装筐体139の外周面に、その両端が連結されている。前記移動伝達部134aは、前記ガイド134bに沿うように配置された状態で、前記アクチュエータ133に、機械的に連結されている。前記検出部137は、前記移動伝達部134aのユーザに接する側に配置されている。前記表示部138は、前記外装筐体139の前記移動伝達部134aとは反対側の面に配置されている。前記送受信部131、前記アクチュエータ133、前記検出部137および前記表示部138は、前記制御部132に、電気的に接続されている。前記制御部132は、前述の刺激制御手段およびタイマ管理手段を含む。前記検出部137は、前述の提示状態検出手段および外部刺激検出手段を含む。前記移動伝達部134a、前記ガイド134b、前記バンド部134cを合せたものが、本実施形態のイベント報知装置における前述の伝達手段である。
図17に、本実施形態のイベント報知装置の一例の構成を示す。本実施形態のイベント報知装置は、前述の実施形態4のイベント報知装置を具体化した装置の別の一例であり、腕巻き型の装置である。図示のとおり、このイベント報知装置170は、送受信部131と、制御部132と、アクチュエータ173と、ラック174aと、ピニオン174bと、バンド部174cと、検出部137と、表示部138と、外装筐体179とを含む。前記送受信部131、前記制御部132、前記アクチュエータ173および前記ピニオン174bは、前記外装筐体179内に配置されている。前記検出部137は、前記外装筐体179のユーザに接する側に配置されている。前記表示部138は、前記外装筐体179の前記検出部137とは、反対側の面に配置されている。前記ピニオン174bは、前記アクチュエータ173に、機械的に接続され、前記アクチュエータ173により発生される力により、回転可能に配置されている。前記ラック174aは、前記バンド部174cの一端側に固定されている。前記バンド部174cの他端は、前記外装筐体179の外周面に連結されている。前記バンド部174cの一端側は、前記ラック174aと前記ピニオン174bとが、噛合可能なように、前記外装筐体179内部に引き込まれている。前記送受信部131、前記アクチュエータ173、前記検出部137および前記表示部138は、前記制御部132に、電気的に接続されている。これらの点を除いて、本実施形態のイベント報知装置は、前述の実施形態5のイベント報知装置と同様の構成を有する。
図19(a)に、本実施形態のイベント報知装置の一例の構成を示す。本実施形態のイベント報知装置は、前述の実施形態4のイベント報知装置を具体化した装置のさらに別の一例である。図示のとおり、本実施形態のイベント報知装置190aは、携帯電話機191aに内蔵されており、前述の伝達手段として、バイブレータ194aを含む。その他の構成部材は、図示を省略する。なお、図19(a)では、説明の便宜上、前記携帯電話機191aにおけるボタンの一部の記載を省略している。また、本実施形態のイベント報知装置は、携帯電話機に搭載されているが、本発明は、この例に限定されず、例えば、携帯型ノートPC、携帯型ゲーム機、携帯型音楽プレーヤ等の電子機器に内蔵されてもよい。
本実施形態のプログラムは、前述の本発明のイベント報知装置を用いたイベント報知方法を、同装置に実行させるプログラムである。本実施形態のプログラムは、例えば、記録媒体に記録されていてもよい。前記記録媒体は、特に制限されず、例えば、HDD、CD-ROM(CD-R、CD-RW)、DVD、メモリーカード等があげられる。また、本実施形態のプログラムは、例えば、予め、前述の本発明のイベント報知装置にインストールされていてもよいし、前記記録媒体またはインターネット等の回線網を介して、インストールされてもよい。なお、本実施形態のプログラムは、必ずしも、前述の本発明のイベント報知装置にインストールされている必要はなく、例えば、サーバに格納されている本実施形態のプログラムにより、前述のイベント報知方法を、前述の装置に実行させてもよい。

前記刺激提示データを受け取ることにより刺激を提示し、前記刺激除去データを受け取ることにより前記提示されている刺激を除去する刺激提示手段と、

- 前記刺激が、圧であり、
前記刺激提示手段が、前記圧を力として提示する刺激提示アクチュエータであることを特徴とする請求の範囲1から7のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知装置。 - 前記伝達手段が、前記圧の変化に伴う前記刺激提示アクチュエータの駆動による前記力を移動によりユーザに伝達する移動伝達部と、前記移動伝達部の移動方向を制限するガイドと、ユーザに伝達した前記力を保持するバンド部とを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲8記載のイベント報知装置。
- 前記伝達手段が、前記圧の変化に伴う前記刺激提示アクチュエータの駆動により前記力をユーザに伝達するラックおよびピニオンと、前記ラックおよび前記ピニオンにより長さを調節可能なバンド部とを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲8記載のイベント報知装置。
- 前記刺激が、振動であり、
前記刺激提示データおよび前記刺激除去データが、前記振動の振幅の制御を行うデータであり、
前記伝達手段が、バイブレータであることを特徴とする請求の範囲1から10のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知装置。 - 前記刺激が、音であり、
前記刺激提示データおよび前記刺激除去データが、前記音の周波数の制御を行うデータであり、
前記伝達手段が、スピーカであることを特徴とする請求の範囲1から11のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知装置。 - さらに、前記刺激提示手段における刺激を検出して、前記刺激提示手段により提示または除去される刺激を正確に制御するためのフィードバックデータを、前記刺激制御手段に出力する提示状態検出手段を含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲1から12のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知装置。
- さらに、外部からの刺激を検出して、前記刺激提示データ出力準備開始のタイミングを示す準備開始タイミングデータを、前記刺激制御手段に出力する外部刺激検出手段を含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲1から13のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知装置。
- 前記イベントが、予め設定された時刻の到来、通話、メール着信、通信の確立、通信の遮断、ダウンロード完了、アップロード完了、データ送受信の完了、ゲームでのイベント発生および機器操作に対する反応、ならびにアプリケーションでのイベント発生および機器操作に対する反応からなる群から選択される少なくとも一つのイベントであることを特徴とする請求の範囲1から14のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知装置。
- ユーザに報知するイベントが発生するまでの間、ユーザに刺激を提示して、イベント報知の準備をするイベント報知準備ステップと、
前記イベントが発生すると、前記提示されている刺激を除去して、前記イベントをユーザに報知するイベント報知ステップとを含むことを特徴とするイベント報知方法。 - 前記イベント報知準備ステップにおいて、刺激を徐々に大きくして、ユーザに提示することを特徴とする請求の範囲16記載のイベント報知方法。
- 前記イベント報知準備ステップにおいて、刺激が変化したことにユーザが気付くことのできる最少刺激差である弁別閾未満の刺激量で、刺激を徐々に大きくして、ユーザに提示することを特徴とする請求の範囲16記載のイベント報知方法。
- 前記イベント報知準備ステップにおいて、ユーザが刺激を感じ取ることのできる最小値である刺激域未満を初期値とすることを特徴とする請求の範囲16から18のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。
- 前記イベント報知ステップにおいて、前記提示されている刺激の一部を除去することを特徴とする請求の範囲16から19のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。
- 前記イベント報知ステップにおいて、刺激が変化したことにユーザが気付くことのできる最少刺激差である弁別閾以上の刺激量で、前記提示されている刺激を除去することを特徴とする請求の範囲16から20のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。
- さらに、前記イベントの発生を検出するイベント検出ステップを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲16から21のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。
- さらに、ユーザの刺激への順応時間を管理するタイマ管理ステップを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲16から22のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。
- 前記刺激が、圧、振動および音からなる群から選択される少なくとも一つであり、
前記イベント報知準備ステップにおいて、前記圧、前記振動の振幅および前記音の周波数の少なくとも一つを、ユーザに提示することを特徴とする請求の範囲16から23のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。 - さらに、前記イベント報知準備ステップおよび前記イベント報知ステップにおける刺激を検出して、前記イベント報知準備ステップおよび前記イベント報知ステップに、前記検出された刺激値をフィードバックするフィードバックステップを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲16から24のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。
- さらに、外部からの刺激を検出して、前記イベント報知準備ステップを開始するタイミングを調整するタイミング調整ステップを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲16から25のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。
- 前記イベントが、予め設定された時刻の到来、通話、メール着信、通信の確立、通信の遮断、ダウンロード完了、アップロード完了、データ送受信の完了、ゲームでのイベント発生および機器操作に対する反応、ならびにアプリケーションでのイベント発生および機器操作に対する反応からなる群から選択される少なくとも一つのイベントであることを特徴とする請求の範囲16から26のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。
- 請求の範囲1から15のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知装置を使用し、
前記イベント報知準備ステップは、
前記刺激制御手段が、前記報知データを受け取るまでの間、ユーザに刺激を提示する制御を行う刺激提示データを出力する刺激提示データ出力ステップと、
前記刺激提示手段が、前記刺激提示データを受け取り、前記伝達手段に刺激を提示する刺激提示ステップと、
前記伝達手段が、前記刺激の提示を、ユーザに伝達する提示刺激伝達ステップとを含み、
前記イベント検出ステップは、
前記報知イベント検出手段が、ユーザに報知するイベントを検出して、前記報知データを出力する報知データ出力ステップを含み、
前記イベント報知ステップは、
前記刺激制御手段が、前記報知データを受け取り、前記提示されている刺激を除去する制御を行う刺激除去データを出力する刺激除去データ出力ステップと、
前記刺激提示手段が、前記刺激除去データを受け取り、前記提示されている刺激を除去する刺激除去ステップと、
前記伝達手段が、前記刺激の除去を、ユーザに伝達する刺激除去伝達ステップとを含む、
ことを特徴とする請求の範囲22から27のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。 - 請求の範囲7から15のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知装置を使用し、
請求の範囲23に記載のタイマ管理ステップは、
前記タイマ管理手段が、前記インターバルデータを、前記刺激制御手段に出力するインターバルデータ出力ステップを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲28記載のイベント報知方法。 - 請求の範囲13から15のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知装置を使用し、
請求の範囲25記載のフィードバックステップは、
前記提示状態検出手段が、前記刺激提示手段における刺激を検出して、前記フィードバックデータを、前記刺激制御手段に出力するフィードバックデータ出力ステップを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲28または29記載のイベント報知方法。 - 請求の範囲14または15記載のイベント報知装置を使用し、
請求の範囲26記載のタイミング調整ステップは、
前記外部刺激検出手段が、外部からの刺激を検出して、前記準備開始タイミングデータを、前記刺激制御手段に出力する準備開始タイミングデータ出力ステップを含むことを特徴とする請求の範囲28から30のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法。 - 請求の範囲16から31のいずれか一項に記載のイベント報知方法を、コンピュータに実行させることを特徴とするプログラム。
- 請求の範囲32記載のプログラムを記録していることを特徴とする記録媒体。
