Abstract

본 발명은 에너지 밀도가 향상된 리튬이차전지에 관한 것으로서, 리튬 이온을 흡장·방출하는 리튬 혼합 전이금속 산화물을 포함하는 양극 활물질을 이용한 양극으로 이루어지며, 방전 종료 전압이 1.5~2.75V인 것으로서, 양극의 활물질로서 다양한 리튬 혼합 전이금속 산화물을 사용하거나, 또는 LCO계 양극재와 혼합 사용함으로써 방전 종료 전압을 기존 3.0V에서 1.5V~2.75V까지 낮출 수 있으며, 종래 LCO계 양극재의 경우 방전 종료 전압을 낮추더라도 용량이나 에너지 밀도에 차이가 없던 데 비해 본 발명의 양극재를 사용한 결과 방전 종료 전압을 낮춤에 따라 10~20%의 용량을 추가로 향상시킬 수 있게 되었다.
