次に、図2~図8を用いて、図1に示した通信装置100及び200の構成の一例を説明する。
図2は、本実施形態に係る通信装置100の構成の一例を示すブロック図である。図2を参照すると、通信装置100は、アンテナ110、第1無線通信部120、記憶部150、複数のアンテナ160a~160n、及び第2無線通信部170を備える。また、第1無線通信部120は、第1アナログ部122、AD(Analog-to-Digital)変換部124、DA(Digital-to-Analog)変換部126、第1デジタル部130、及び制御部140を有する。第2無線通信部170は、第2アナログ部172、AD変換部174、DA変換部176、第2デジタル部180、及び制御部190を有する。
図6は、本実施形態に係る通信装置200の構成の一例を示すブロック図である。図6を参照すると、通信装置200は、アンテナ210、第1無線通信部220、記憶部250、複数のアンテナ260a~260n、及び第2無線通信部270を備える。また、第1無線通信部220は、第1アナログ部222、AD変換部224、DA変換部226、第1デジタル部230、及び制御部240を有する。第2無線通信部270は、第2アナログ部272、AD変換部274、DA変換部276、第2デジタル部280、及び制御部290を有する。
図9は、上述した通信装置100と通信装置200との間で送受信される信号のシーケンスの一例を示す説明図である。図9を参照すると、時間軸に沿って、通信装置100(Tx)及び通信装置200(Rx)から送信される信号が順に示されている。
図10は、通信装置100と通信装置200との間で送受信される信号のシーケンスの他の例を示す説明図である。
以上、図1~図11を用いて、本発明の一実施形態に係る通信装置100及び200の構成及びその変形例について説明した。本実施形態によれば、(例えばマイクロ波などを用いる)第1の通信方式に従って送信される指示信号に基づいて、(例えばミリ波などを用いる)第2の通信方式に従って送信されるビーム学習用信号の受信開始時点が決定される。ここで、ビーム学習用信号は指示信号のデータ部の送信と重なる時間において送信されるため、上記受信開始時点は、指示信号の受信が完了するよりも前の時点となる。そして、当該受信開始時点から受信されるビーム学習用信号に基づいて、最適なビームパターンを特定するためのパラメータ値が決定される。それにより、1つのパケット(例えばRTS又はCTSなど)が送受信される間に、第2の通信方式に従った無線通信に使用される最適な送受信ビームの指向性を学習することが可能となる。

Claims (11)
- 第1の通信方式に従って無線通信可能な第1無線通信部と;
前記第1の通信方式よりも高い周波数帯を使用する第2の通信方式に従って無線通信可能な第2無線通信部と;
を備え、
前記第1無線通信部は、ビームの指向性の学習を指示する指示信号を受信した場合に、当該指示信号に基づいてビーム学習用信号の受信開始時点を決定し、
前記第2無線通信部は、前記第1無線通信部により決定された前記受信開始時点から前記ビーム学習用信号の受信を開始し、受信した前記ビーム学習用信号に基づいて最適なビームパターンを特定するためのパラメータ値を決定する、
通信装置。 - 前記受信開始時点は、前記第1無線通信部による前記指示信号の受信が完了するよりも前の時点である、請求項1に記載の通信装置。
- 前記第2無線通信部は、決定した前記パラメータ値を前記第1無線通信部へ通知し、
前記第1無線通信部は、通知された前記パラメータ値を含む通知信号を前記指示信号の送信元の装置へ送信する、

前記パラメータは、前記複数のタイムスロットのうち少なくとも1つのタイムスロットを特定するためのパラメータである、
請求項5に記載の通信装置。 - 前記ビーム学習用信号は、互いに直交又は擬似直交関係にある前記複数の信号系列が合成された信号であり、

請求項5に記載の通信装置。 - 前記第2無線通信部は、前記ビーム学習用信号を受信している間に受信ビームの指向性を変化させることにより、受信ビームの最適な指向性を決定する、請求項1に記載の通信装置。
- 第1の通信方式に従って無線通信可能な第1無線通信部と;
前記第1の通信方式よりも高い周波数帯を使用する第2の通信方式に従って無線通信可能な第2無線通信部と;
を備え、
前記第1無線通信部は、ビームの指向性の学習を指示する指示信号を他の通信装置へ送信し、
前記第2無線通信部は、前記第1無線通信部による前記指示信号の送信が完了する前に、ビームの指向性の学習に使用されるビーム学習用信号を前記他の通信装置へ送信する、
通信装置。 - 第1の通信方式及び前記第1の通信方式よりも高い周波数帯を使用する第2の通信方式に従って無線通信可能な送信装置と受信装置との間の通信制御方法であって:
前記送信装置から前記受信装置へ、ビームの指向性の学習を指示する指示信号を前記第1の通信方式に従って送信するステップと;
前記送信装置から前記受信装置へ、ビームの指向性の学習に使用されるビーム学習用信号を前記第2の通信方式に従って送信するステップと;
前記受信装置において、受信した前記指示信号に基づいて用いて決定される所定の受信開始時点から前記ビーム学習用信号の受信を開始するステップと;
前記受信装置において、受信した前記ビーム学習用信号に基づいて最適な指向性を有するビームを特定するパラメータを決定するステップと;
を含む通信制御方法。 - 第1の通信方式に従って無線通信可能な第1無線通信部;
及び、前記第1の通信方式よりも高い周波数帯を使用する第2の通信方式に従って無線通信可能な第2無線通信部;
をそれぞれ備える送信装置と受信装置とを含み、
前記送信装置の前記第1無線通信部は、ビームの指向性の学習を指示する指示信号を前記受信装置へ送信し、
