Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Katalysator für die katalytische Gasphasenoxidation von aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen zu Aldehyden, Carbonsäuren und/oder Carbonsäureanhydriden, insbesondere zu Phthalsäureanhydrid, mit mehreren unterschiedlichen Katalysatorlagen, wobei der Katalysator eine Hot-Spot-Katalysatorlage, in der bezogen auf den gesamten Katalysator das größte lokale Temperaturmaximum auftritt, wenigstens eine der Hot-Spot-Katalysatorlage vorgelagerte Katalysatorlage sowie bevorzugt wenigstens eine der Hot-Spot-Katalysatorlage nachgelagerte Katalysatorlage aufweist. Erfindungsgemäß ist im Falle von Antimon und/oder Wismut und/oder Niob in der katalytisch aktiven Masse der Hot-Spot-Katalysatorlage der Gehalt wenigstens eines dieser Elemente in der katalytisch aktiven Masse wenigstens einer vorgelagerten Katalysatorlage gegenüber dem Gehalt desselben Elementes in der katalytisch aktiven Masse der Hot-Spot-Katalysatorlage um einen vorgegebenen Wert reduziert.
