Abstract
Signalmodulator für Analog/Digital-Wandler umfassend: eine erste Modulatorstufe mit einem Eingang für das analoge Eingangssignal, einen Komparator (U1), der dafür konfiguriert ist, das Ausgangssignal der ersten Modulatorstufe mit einem Spannungswert (P1) zu vergleichen, einen Quantisierer (D1), der dafür konfiguriert ist, durch Abtasten des Ausgangssignals des Komparators (U1) mit einer Abtastfrequenz eine Reihe von Digitalsignalen zu erzeugen, sowie eine Rückkopplungsschleife, die das Ausgangssignal des Quantisierers in die erste Modulatorstufe rückkoppelt, wobei erfindungsgemäß vorgesehen ist, dass die erste Modulatorstufe durch zumindest ein RC-Glied (R1C1) gebildet wird, und die Rückkopplungsschleife den Ausgang des Quantisierers (D1) mit dem Ausgang des zumindest einen RC- Glieds (R1C1) verbindet.
Description
Signalmodulator für Analog/Digital-Wandler
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen gattungsgemäßen Signalmodulator für Analog/Digital-Wandler, wie er im Oberbegriff von Anspruch 1 und 2 festgelegt ist. Insbesondere umfasst er eine erste Modulatorstufe mit einem Eingang für das analoge Eingangssignal, einen Komparator, der dafür konfiguriert ist, das Ausgangssignal der ersten Modulatorstufe mit einem Spannungswert zu vergleichen, einen Quantisierer, der dafür konfiguriert ist, durch Abtasten des Ausgangssignals des Komparators mit einer Abtastfrequenz eine Reihe von Digitalsignalen zu erzeugen, sowie eine Rückkopplungsschleife, die das Ausgangssignal des Quantisierers in die erste Modulatorstufe rückkoppelt.
Stand der Technik
Viele elektronische oder elektromechanische Produkte erfordern die Umwandlung analoger elektronischer Signale in digitale Signale, etwa zur Weiterverarbeitung durch einen Mikroprozessor. Ein im Stand der Technik hierfür bekannter Analog/Digital-Wandler ist der Sigma-Delta-Analog/Digital- Umwandler. In der Regel weist ein solcher Umwandler einen Sigma-Delta-Modulator auf, sowie ein digitales Filter. Der Sigma-Delta-Modulator verfügt dabei in der Regel über eine erste Modulatorstufe, die unterschiedlich aufgebaut sein kann, einen getakteten Quantisierer, sowie eine Rückkopplungsschleife, die auch einen Digital/Analog-Umsetzer aufweisen kann. Der Quantisierer führt eine Abtastoperation durch, die die Analog/Digital-Umsetzung vollzieht. Die
Rückkopplungsschleife koppelt Analogsignale in die erste Modulatorstufe zurück, wo sie mit einem analogen Eingangssignal kombiniert werden. Zum Beispiel kann in der ersten Modulatorstufe ein Addierer vorgesehen sein, der die rückgekoppelten Analogsignale zum analogen Eingangssignal addiert, oder Zwischenabgriffe in der ersten Modulatorstufe können die rückgekoppelten Analogsignale mit in der ersten Modulatorstufe erzeugten Analogsignalen kombinieren.
Umwandler dieser Art verfügen über zahlreiche Einsatzgebiete, etwa in der Unterhaltungselektronik, in der Telekommunikationstechnik, oder bei digitalen Signalprozessoren, wobei zahlreiche Möglichkeiten beschrieben wurden, Optimierungen hinsichtlich Abtastrate, Linearität, Auflösung, oder Signal/Rausch-Verhältnis zu erzielen. Es existieren aber auch Anwendungen, bei denen Analog/Digital- Umwandler für vergleichsweise einfache Anforderungen benötigt werden, etwa für einfachere Mess- und Steuerungsaufgaben. In diesen Einsatzbereichen ist mitunter die Qualität des vom Umwandler erzeugten Ausgangssignals weniger ausschlaggebend, als vielmehr eine kostengünstige Herstellungsweise. Es besteht daher ein Bedarf nach einem Analog/Digital-Umwandler, die bei ausreichender Qualität des Ausgangssignals die Herstellungskosten minimieren.
Darstellung der Erfindung
Es ist daher das Ziel der Erfindung, diese Nachteile zu vermeiden und Signalmodulatoren für Analog/Digital-Umwandler zu verwirklichen, die bei ausreichender Qualität des Ausgangssignals die Herstellungskosten minimieren. Dabei soll das Auslangen mit einer möglichst geringen Anzahl von, überdies günstigen Bauteilen gefunden werden. Diese Ziele werden durch die Merkmale von Anspruch 1 erreicht.
Bei einem Signalmodulator für Analog/Digital-Wandler umfassend eine erste Modulatorstufe mit einem Eingang für das analoge Eingangssignal, einen Komparator, der dafür konfiguriert ist, das Ausgangssignal der ersten Modulatorstufe mit einem Spannungswert zu vergleichen, einen Quantisierer, der dafür konfiguriert ist, durch Abtasten des Ausgangssignals des Komparators mit einer Abtastfrequenz eine Reihe von Digitalsignalen zu erzeugen, sowie eine Rückkopplungsschleife, die das Ausgangssignal des Quantisierers in die erste Modulatorstufe rückkoppelt, ist dabei erfindungsgemäß vorgesehen, dass die erste
Modulatorstufe durch ein RC-Glied gebildet wird, und die Rückkopplungsschleife den Ausgang des Quantisierers mit dem Ausgang des RC-Glieds verbindet. Dadurch ergibt sich ein Signalmodulator, der in Anlehnung an bekannte Sigma-Delta- Analog/Digital-Umwandler im Folgenden auch als Signalmodulator erster Ordnung bezeichnet wird.
Erfindungsgemäß wird auch ein Signalmodulator vorgeschlagen, der in weiterer Folge als Signalmodulator zweiter Ordnung bezeichnet wird. Hierbei ist vorgesehen, dass die erste Modulatorstufe durch zwei seriell geschaltete RC-Glieder gebildet wird, und die Rückkopplungsschleife den Ausgang des Quantisierers mit den Ausgängen der beiden RC-Glieder verbindet .
Gemäß einer vorteilhaften Weiterbildung handelt es sich bei dem Quantisierer um einen D-Flipflop.
Des Weiteren bezieht sich die Erfindung auf einen Analog/Digital-Wandler mit einem erfindungsgemäßen Signalmodulator .
Kurzbeschreibung der Zeichnungen
Im Anschluss erfolgt nun eine detaillierte Beschreibung der Erfindung anhand eines Ausführungsbeispiels. Dabei zeigt
Fig.l eine Schaltung, mit der sich eine Ausführungsform eines erfindungsgemäßen Signalmodulators zweiter Ordnung verwirklichen lässt.
Ausführung der Erfindung
In der Fig.l ist eine Ausführungsform eines erfindungsgemäßen Signalmodulators zweiter Ordnung gezeigt. Die erste
Modulatorstufe wird dabei durch zwei seriell geschaltete RC- Glieder RiCi, R2C2 gebildet. Das analoge Eingangssignal Vin wird dabei dem ersten RC-Glied R1C1 zugeführt. Das
Ausgangssignal des zweiten RC-Glieds R2C2 wird einem Komparator Ui zugeleitet, der das Ausgangssignal mit einem vorbestimmten Wert Vref vergleicht. Der Komparator Ui weist hierfür eine positive Stromversorgung Pi auf. Das Ausgangsignal des Komparators Ui wird einem Quantisierer Dl zugeführt, der etwa als D-Flipflop ausgeführt sein kann. Der Schaltweg vom Komparator Ui zum Quantisierer Di kann dabei mit der positiven Stromversorgung Pi über einen Pullup- Widerstand R3 gekoppelt sein. Der D-Flipflop ist in bekannter Weise ein getakteter Flipflop mit einem Informationseingang D, einem Takteingang C, sowie einem Ausgang Q. Die Schaltung des D-Flipflops erfolgt ausschließlich durch die Flanke des Taktimpulses, unabhängig von einer zwischenzeitlichen Zustandsänderung am Informationseingang D. Der Takteingang C kann dabei sowohl bei der steigenden, als auch bei der fallenden Flanke des Taktimpulses geschaltet werden, und übernimmt den am Informationseingang D liegenden Signalpegel verzögert auf den Ausgang Q. Handelsübliche D-Flipflops werden nur bei einer Flanke geschaltet, etwa bei der positiven Flanke, für das Funktionieren der Erfindung ist das aber nicht entscheidend. Liegt keine aktive Taktflanke an, erfolgt keine Übernahme des Eingangswertes am Informationseingang D. Das Ausgangssignal des Quantisierers Di wird über eine Rückkopplungsschleife über einen Widerstand R4 in den Ausgang des ersten RC-Glieds R1C1 rückgekoppelt, sowie über einen weiteren Widerstand R5 in den Ausgang des zweiten RC-Glieds R2C2. Die beiden RC-Glieder R1C1, R2C2 wirken dabei als Integratorschaltungen, sodass die Widerstände Ri, R2, R3, R4 auch als Integratorwiderstände bezeichnet werden können, und die Kondensatoren Ci, C2 der beiden RC-Glieder als Integratorkondensatoren. Eine besonders einfache Realisierung des erfindungsgemäßen Signalmodulators kann etwa dadurch erreicht werden, indem die Integratorwiderstände Ri, R2, R3, R4 gleich groß gewählt werden.
Bei einem Signalmodulator erster Ordnung wird lediglich ein RC-Glied R1C1 verwendet, wobei die Rückkopplung des Ausgangssignal aus dem Quantisierer Di lediglcih über den
Widerstand R4 in den Ausgang dieses einen RC-Glieds erfolgt. Das zweite RC-Glied R2C2, sowie der zusätzliche Widerstand R5 entfallen in diesem Fall.
Eine mögliche Auslegung des erfindungsgemäßen
Signalmodulators zweiter Ordnung gemäß der Ausführungsform von Fig. 1 kann etwa wie folgt gewählt werden:

Bevorzugt wird der erfindungsgemäße Signalmodulator mit CMOS- Komponenten aufgebaut. Es zeigt sich, dass lediglich eine geringe Versorgungsspannung in Form der positiven Stromversorgung P1 benötigt wird, und dass die erfindungsgemäße Schaltung ansonsten mit wenigen, kostengünstigen Bauteilen das Auslangen findet. Dabei kann etwa mit der in obiger Tabelle angegebenen Auslegung ein Spannungsbereich von -6.6 V bis +6.6 V gewandelt werden, wobei eine Genauigkeit von +/-0.1% des Vollausschlages erreichbar ist. Der Linearitätsfehler beträgt dabei unter 0.05%. Die erreichbare Auflösung liegt bei über 16 bit, bei einer Wandlungszeit von 1 ms.
Es zeigt sich somit, dass der erfindungsgemäße Signalmodulator für Analog/Digital-Umwandler bei ausreichender Qualität des Ausgangssignals die
Herstellungskosten stark reduzieren kann, da mit einer vergleichsweise geringen Anzahl von, überdies günstigen Bauteilen das Auslangen gefunden werden kann.
Claims
1. Signalmodulator für Analog/Digital-Wandler umfassend:
- eine erste Modulatorstufe mit einem Eingang für das analoge Eingangssignal,
- einen Komparator (Ui) , der dafür konfiguriert ist, das Ausgangssignal der ersten Modulatorstufe mit einem Spannungswert (Pi) zu vergleichen,
- einen Quantisierer (Di) , der dafür konfiguriert ist, durch Abtasten des Ausgangssignals des Komparators (Ui) mit einer
Abtastfrequenz eine Reihe von Digitalsignalen zu erzeugen, sowie
- eine Rückkopplungsschleife, die das Ausgangssignal des Quantisierers in die erste Modulatorstufe rückkoppelt, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t, dass die erste Modulatorstufe durch ein RC-Glied (RiCi) gebildet wird, und die Rückkopplungsschleife den Ausgang des Quantisierers (Di) mit dem Ausgang des RC-Glieds (RiCi) verbindet .
2. Signalmodulator für Analog/Digital-Wandler umfassend:
- eine erste Modulatorstufe mit einem Eingang für das analoge Eingangssignal,
- einen Komparator (Ui) , der dafür konfiguriert ist, das Ausgangssignal der ersten Modulatorstufe mit einem vorgegebenen Spannungswert (Pi) zu vergleichen,
- einen Quantisierer (Di) , der dafür konfiguriert ist, durch Abtasten des Ausgangssignals des Komparators (Ui) mit einer Abtastfrequenz eine Reihe von Digitalsignalen zu erzeugen, sowie
- eine Rückkopplungsschleife, die das Ausgangssignal des Quantisierers (Dx) in die erste Modulatorstufe rückkoppelt, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t, dass die erste Modulatorstufe durch zwei seriell geschaltete RC-Glieder (RiCi, R2C2) gebildet wird, und die
Rückkopplungsschleife den Ausgang des Quantisierers (Di) mit den Ausgängen der beiden RC-Glieder (RiCi, R2C2) verbindet.
3. Signalmodulator nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, d a d u r c h g e k e n n z e i c h n e t, dass es sich bei dem Quantisierer (D1) um einen D-Flipflop handelt.
4. Analog/Digital-Wandler mit einem Signalmodulator nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3.
