Abstract

 消費電力を削減しつつ維持放電を安定に発生させ、画像表示品質を向上する。そのために、プラズマディスプレイパネルと、表示電極対の電極間容量とインダクタとを共振させて維持パルスの立ち上がりまたは立ち下がりを行う電力回収回路を有し、1フィールド内に設けた初期化期間と書込み期間と維持期間とを有する複数のサブフィールドの維持期間において輝度重みに応じた回数の維持パルスを表示電極対に交互に印加する維持パルス発生回路とを備え、維持パルス発生回路は、基準となる第1の維持パルスと、第1の維持パルスよりも立ち上がりを緩やかにした第2の維持パルスと、第1の維持パルスよりも立ち上がりを急峻にした第3の維持パルスとの少なくとも3種類の維持パルスを切換えて発生する。
