Abstract

 高周波帯域における周波数特性を一層改善し、さらに、温度ドリフト現象をより抑制することが可能な光変調器を提供することを目的とする。  電気光学効果を有する基板1と、該基板に形成された光導波路2と、該光導波路中を導波する光波を制御するための信号電極と接地電極4,5とからなる変調用電極を該基板上に有し、該信号電極の端部31,32の少なくとも一方に、高周波変調信号導入線路又は終端器の少なくともいずれかをボンディング(81~86)で接続する光変調器において、ボンディングされた該信号電極の端部と導波路を挟む反対側の該基板上にダミー用電極部(131~186)を配置したことを特徴とする。
