Abstract
符号化遅延が小さく、画素データ毎の符号化を固定長データによって行うとともに、復号化して生成される画像の画質劣化を最小限に抑制可能な画像符号化装置を提供する。符号化対象画素の画素データである対象画素データを予測して予測値データを生成する予測値生成手段16と、対象画素データと予測値データの差分値を算出して差分値データを生成する減算器11と、差分値データに基づいて符号化モードを決定し、バッファ17に一時的に保持する符号化モード決定手段12と、符号化モードに基づいて符号化処理を行う対象となる符号化対象データを、対象画素データ或いは差分値データの何れとするかを決定する符号化対象決定手段13と、符号化モードに基づいて符号化対象データに量子化処理を行って量子化データを生成する量子化手段14と、量子化データに符号化モードを付して固定長符号を生成する固定長符号生成手段15とを備える。
