Abstract

　【課題】単体透過率および偏光度の高いリオトロピック液晶化合物の偏光膜が得られるコーティング液、および偏光膜を提供する。 　【解決手段】本発明のコーティング液は塩析により単離されたリオトロピック液晶化合物と溶媒とを含むコーティング液であって、コーティング液の塩化物イオン濃度が３×１０［４］ｐｐｍ以下であることを特徴とする。本発明の偏光膜は上記のコーティング液を薄膜状に流延し、リオトロピック液晶化合物を配向させて得られる。
