Abstract

 本発明の撮像装置は、モードスイッチ116でファインダーモードが選択されている場合は、フォーカス制御ユニット203において合焦動作を行う際に、フォーカスレンズを第1の速度で駆動するよう制御し、ライブビューモードが選択されている場合は、フォーカス制御ユニット203において合焦動作を行う際に、測光ユニット114で検出された被写体の明るさに応じて、第1の速度よりも低い範囲でフォーカスレンズの駆動速度を切り換えるよう制御するものである。このような構成により、位相差検出方式のAF制御と山登り方式のAF制御で、レンズ駆動制御方法を変更し、それぞれのAF方式に適した駆動方式を行うことにより、正常かつ高速に合焦動作を行うことができる。
