  • Vehicle wheels are typically shipped in large quantities to vehicle suppliers. Typically, the vehicle wheels are packaged in a stacked relationship using large plastic sheets, clips, and cardboard dividers. Assembly for shipping is labor intensive and time consuming. Also, the plastic sheets and cardboard dividers are scrapped after use, which can cause environmental concerns.
  • a wheel packaging device includes a plurality of elongate support bodies that are spaced laterally apart from each other, and a plurality of clips that are associated with each elongate support body. Each clip on an associated elongate support body is longitudinally spaced apart from an adjacent clip. Further, each clip includes a retention feature that is adapted to receive a wheel structure.

  • the clips 16 are associated with upper and lower surfaces of the elongate support bodies 14 and include structure that allows upper and lower wheel components 12 to be secured to a common elongate support body 14. This will be discussed in greater detail below. It should be understood that the subject wheel packaging device 10 could be used to stack more or less than two vertical layers of wheel components 12, and more or less than two horizontal rows of wheel components 12.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un dispositif d'emballage de roue qui inclut une pluralité de corps de support allongés (14) séparés et latéralement espacés les uns des autres. Chaque corps de support allongé inclut une pluralité de clips (16) qui sont espacés longitudinalement les uns des autres le long d'une longueur du corps de support allongé. Chaque clip inclut un élément de retenue (20,24) qui est utilisé pour fixer une roue (12) au corps de support allongé.
