Abstract

　赤、緑、青色光をそれぞれ放射するＬＥＤモジュール１Ｒ、１Ｇ、１Ｂと、ＬＥＤモジュールからの光を導く照明光学系２Ｒ、２Ｇ、２Ｂと、照明光学系により導かれたＬＥＤモジュールからの光を映像信号に基づき変調する液晶パネル７とが配置される。ＬＥＤモジュールの各々に対して、それらの背面にそれぞれ熱伝導部材であるスプレッダー１１Ｒ、１１Ｇ、１１Ｂを介して接続された複数の冷却装置を備える。赤色光ＬＥＤモジュール１Ｒの冷却装置のみが、加熱及び吸熱制御が可能な電熱素子である赤用ペルチェモジュール１２を用いて構成されている。異なる色光を発する複数の固体光源の冷却のために、ペルチェ素子を適切に使用した効率の良い温度制御を可能とし、冷却システムの大型化や電力ロスを抑制することができる。
