Abstract

 本発明は、多数枚(例えば、16万枚)プリントを行っても、良好な2次転写性と良好なクリーニングブレードによるクリーニング性を維持し、文字画像の中抜けがなく、文字再現性に優れた高品質のトナー画像が継続して得られる中間転写体を提供する。前記中間転写体は、電子写真感光体の表面に担持されたトナー像を中間転写体に1次転写した後、該トナー像を該中間転写体から転写材に2次転写する手段を有する画像形成装置に用いる中間転写体であって、樹脂基体の外周に、弾性層を設け、その上に表面層を設けたもので、該表面層の層厚が10~500nmであり、該中間転写体の表面のナノインデンテーション法で測定したヤング率が0.1~5.0GPaであり、該中間転写体の表面のヤング率が表面層を形成する前の弾性層のヤング率より0.0~2.0GPa大きいことを特徴とする。
