Abstract

本発明のメカニカルシール装置（１）は、装置本体（６０）の外面（６０Ａ）に取り付けられる取付面（３０Ａ）に対して反対側の支持面（３０Ｈ）から軸（７０）を囲んで機外（Ｏ）へ突出した外周に案内面（３０Ｄ）が設けられた支持部（３０Ｐ）を有する相対シール面（１０Ａ）と一対のシール面（３Ａ）を備えた第１メカニカルシール（２）に、支持面（３０Ｈ）と対向する後端面に押圧面（１５Ｈ）を有するとともに先端面に対向シール面（５０Ｂ）と一対の遮断シール面（１５Ａ）を有し且つ案内面（３０Ｄ）と移動可能で密封に嵌合するシール内周面（１５Ｃ）を有する環状の遮断シール部（１５）を備えた第２メカニカルシールを具備し、遮断シール部（１５）の押圧面（１５Ｈ）がばね手段又は／および流体圧力により調節されて押圧される第２メカニカルシールの遮断シール面（１５Ａ）の面圧が、第１メカニカルシール（２）のシール面（３Ａ）の面圧よりも小さな面圧で接触して耐久能力が大きくされ、第１メカニカルシール（２）から被密封流体が漏れても第２メカニカルシールによりシールされるものである。
