 多価アルコールからその水素化分解物を選択性よく、高収率で製造する方法、及びそれに用いる水素化分解触媒に関する。  (1)銅成分を含む触媒の存在下に、多価アルコールと水素とを反応させる、多価アルコールの水素化分解物の製造方法であって、該触媒が、銅成分、鉄成分及びアルミニウム成分を含む触媒(A)、又は銅成分及びケイ素成分を含む触媒(B)である、多価アルコールの水素化分解物の製造方法。並びに(2)銅成分、鉄成分及びアルミニウム成分を含む多価アルコールの水素化分解触媒、及び(3)銅成分及びケイ素成分を含む多価アルコールの水素化分解触媒である。
