Abstract

 本発明は、酸素を還元する正極と、水素を酸化する負極と、前記正極と前記負極との間に配置された固体電解質膜とを含む第1の膜・電極接合体を含む燃料電池(1)と、前記燃料電池に水素を供給する燃料流路(6)とを含む燃料電池発電システムに関する。 現在の前記発電システムでは、運転を停止しても、燃料電池内に残留する水素によって、正極および負極の触媒粒子の成長や、触媒粒子を担持させる炭素粉末の酸化などが生じるため、正極および負極が劣化するという問題があった。 本発明では、前記発電システムにおける前記燃料流路(6)に、そのシステム内部に存在する水素の少なくとも一部を除去することが可能な、水素除去装置(3)を接続することによって、前記発電システムの運転停止後に水素供給源から前記燃料電池(1)内に流入する余剰水素を低減し、上記問題の解決を図った。
