Abstract

 排気浄化システムの制御系の異常や触媒劣化等の排気浄化システムの故障の有無を精度良く判定し、排気浄化システムの信頼性を向上させることができる排気浄化システムの故障診断装置及び故障診断方法を提供する。  上流側NOX流量演算手段と、下流側NOX流量演算手段と、NOXの還元が正常に行われるための少なくとも一つの条件を満たすか否かを判別するための還元条件判定手段と、条件を満たしていると判別されるときに上流側NOX流量を積分し、所定時間内に触媒上流側を通過したNOX量を算出する上流側NOX量演算手段と、条件を満たしていると判別されるときに下流側NOX流量を積分し、所定時間に触媒下流側を通過したNOX量を算出する下流側NOX量演算手段と、上流側NOX量と下流側NOX量とを比較することにより排気浄化システムが正常に動作しているか否かを判定する故障判定手段とを備える。
