Abstract

 映像や音声をとぎれることなく切り替えでき、加えて消費電力の低減を実現できるデジタル放送受信回路およびこれを備えたデジタル放送受信装置と、その制御方法を提供する。同一のコンテンツが品質の異なる複数の階層の信号として送信されるデジタル放送信号を受信し、前記複数の階層の信号をそれぞれ信号処理手段で処理して生成された複数の出力信号のうち、選択された階層の信号に基づく前記出力信号を出力するデジタル放送受信装置に用いられ、前記複数の階層の信号についての受信状況を判定して前記出力信号を生成する階層を選択し、前記選択された階層の信号を出力するための切替信号を生成するとともに、選択されなかった階層の信号を処理する前記信号処理手段の一部または全部を停止させる切替制御手段と、前記切替信号にしたがって出力信号を切り替える出力切替手段とを備える。
