Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif pour surveiller un dispositif conçu pour transporter en continu un produit allongé, par exemple un fil métallique, un câble, une sangle (4) ou une bande. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste : à ajuster la contrainte de traction exercée sur le produit allongé par l'intermédiaire d'un rouleau libre (5); à détecter la déviation de ce rouleau libre (5); à déterminer la valeur d'une grandeur caractéristique de l'évolution résultante de ladite déviation du rouleau libre (5), telle que la valeur moyenne mobile; à comparer cette valeur avec une valeur de référence prédéterminée; et à émettre un avertissement par l'intermédiaire d'un signal (14) si l'écart entre les valeurs dépasse une valeur-seuil prédéterminée. Ce procédé permet d'indiquer au personnel exécutant une rupture imminente du produit allongé avant la rupture du produit et par conséquent avant toute période d'arrêt imprévue.
