- Such rotation devices often comprise also a tilt device, e.g. to make it possible for work implements to tilt sideways.
- ROTOTILT a registered trademark of Indexator AB
- An object of the present invention is to propose a device which provides a very advantageous solution of the aforesaid problems, and this object is achieved by the device having the features indicated in the claims.
- Fig. 1 shows an arrangement according to the invention in an exploded schematic view
- Fig. 2 shows a gripping device according to the invention as viewed from above
- Figs. 3 and 4 illustrate various valve positions.
- FIG. 1 shows a section of a working arm 10 of a digging machine, which arm 10 has two fastening sockets 11,12 for connecting an upper fastening device 20, which fastening device 20 has two fastening pins 21,22 for engagement with the fastening sockets 11,12.
- FIG. 30 It also shows a lower fastening device 30 which has recesses 31,32 to accommodate fastening pins 81,82 of a shown work tool 80 in the form of a digging bucket and to accommodate fastening pins 91,92 of an alternative work tool 90 in the form of a hydraulically powered vibrator plate.
- the lower fastening device 30 is normally provided with a hydraulic locking device (not shown) to facilitate work implement changes.
- a rotation device 40 is disposed between the upper fastening device 20 and the lower fastening device 30 and comprises a stator element 41 connected to the upper fastening device 20, and a rotor element 42 connected to the lower fastening device 30.
- the rotation device 40 may also be supplemented by a tilt device (not shown) which is not described here in detail, since such products are well-known to those skilled in the art.
- An example of such a product which may be mentioned is the ROTOTILT (registered trademark) marketed by Indexator AB.
- the upper fastening device 20, the rotation device 40 and the lower fastening device 30 together constitute a link between the working arm 10 and an appropriate work tool 80, whereby the work tool can be rotated as a result of the rotation device 40 imparting desired rotary motion to the lower fastening device 30 and hence to the work tool 80.
- the rotation device 40 is supplemented by tilt facilities, similar reasoning refers to a transfer of tilt motion to the work tool 80 via the lower fastening device 30.
- an implement unit 50 in the form of a gripping device or gripping module adapted to being attached to the lower fastening device 30.
- the gripping device 50 comprises two pressure-medium-operated gripping claws 51,52 which may for example be used for the lifting of pillars and other objects.
- the gripping device 50 is for example intended to be used in combination with the work tool 80.
- the gripping claws 51,52 are pivotingly operated by two pressure-medium cylinders/hydraulic cylinders 53,54.
- the rotation device 40 comprises a swivel device 60 for transfer of pressure medium, whereby a movable element of the swivel device accompanies a rotary movement imparted to the lower fastening device 30 by the rotor 42 of the rotation device 40, while a fixed element of the swivel device 60 is arranged non-rotative relative to the stator 41 of the rotation device 40 and the upper fastening device 20.
- the swivel device 60 has two ducts running through it for supply of pressure medium to the implement unit 50 which is attached to the lower fastening device 30 and which is intended to be used in conjunction with, for example, an appropriate first work implement 80.
- the swivel device 60 also has two ducts running through it for supply of pressure medium to an implement locking device of the lower fastening device 30.
- Fig. 1 The locations of lines/hoses for the pressure medium, e.g. hydraulic oil, are illustrated in Fig. 1.
- Two main lines/hoses 100,101 run via the arm 10 from a pressure medium source of the work machine to a remote-controllable valve block 70 for further distribution to the rotation device 40 and any associated tilt device.
- the lines/hoses between the valve block 70 and the rotation device 40 and the tilt device have been omitted in Fig. 1.
- the valve block 70 is attached to the upper fastening device 20.
- Two lines/hoses 102,103 run from the valve block 70 and are each connected to a respective throughflow duct of the swivel device 60.
- Two lines/hoses 104,105 run from said throughflow ducts, the line/hose 104 to the cylinder 53 and the line/hose 105 to the cylinder 54 of the gripping device 50.
- two further lines/hoses 106,107 run from the valve block 70 and are each connected to a respective throughflow duct of the swivel device 60.
- Two lines/hoses 108,109 run from the mentioned throughflow ducts to the locking device of the lower fastening device 30.
- the cylinders 53 and 54 each have a built-in or integrated directional valve 55 as indicated in Figs. 2-4.
- the directional valves can be switched manually to the positions shown in Figs. 3 and 4.
- the cylinders 53 and 54 are adapted to working in parallel and performing the same patterns of movement. This is achieved by internal parallel connections (not shown) whereby a connecting line/hose 56 provides necessary communication of medium between the cylinders 53 and 54.
- the lines/hoses from the swivel device 60 can thus alternately serve as feed or return lines depending on the direction of movement of the cylinders at the time.
- the lines/hoses 104,105 are connected to the cylinders at connection points 154 and 155 of the cylinders 53 and 54.
- the two-position valves 55 are switched to the operating position shown in Fig. 3 whereby the cylinders 53 and 54 and the gripping claws 51 and 52 can be operated as desired. It should of course be noted that the valve 55 of the cylinder 53 is mirror-inverted relative to the valve 55 of the cylinder 54 so that intended communication paths are provided.
- the gripping device 50 activated as above can operate in parallel or alternately with, for example, the work implement 80. If for example it is desired to replace the work implement 80 by a work implement 90 which requires pressure medium, the procedure is as follows. The work implement 80 is disconnected from the lower fastening device 30, followed by the work implement 90 being connected to the lower fastening device 30. Thereafter, lines/hoses 191,192 of the work implement 90 are connected to the connection points 193 and 194 of the cylinders 53 and 54, as indicated in the drawings. It is advantageous if these connections are effected by so-called quick-coupling arrangements. Thereafter, the valves 55 are switched to the operating position shown in Fig.
- the implement 90 is thus provided with its supply of pressure medium and is ready for use, while at the same time the gripping device 50 is placed in a parking position.
- valves 55 When thereafter the implement 90 is to be replaced by another work implement, the valves 55 will be switched to the position shown in Fig. 3, followed by the lines/hoses 191,192 being detached from the connection points 193,194, and the implement 90 being thereafter released from the lower fastening device 30.
- the gripping device 50 is then activated and ready for use. Thereafter a desired work implement can be connected to the lower fastening device 30, and so on.
- the arrangement according to the invention makes it possible in an extremely user-friendly manner to use work implements irrespective of whether they require pressure medium, and to use an implement unit which requires pressure medium in parallel with a work implement which does not require pressure medium.
- the swivel device 60 has only two ducts running through it to supply pressure medium to the implement unit 50 and, after change of connections according to the invention, to supply pressure medium to a work implement.
- the swivel device 60 has four ducts running through it, two of them for supplying pressure medium to a locking device of the lower fastening device 30, and the other two for supplying pressure medium to the implement unit 50 or, after valve switching, to a work implement which requires pressure medium.
- the above arrangement makes possible a very simple swivel device 60 with four throughflow ducts while at the same time minimising the provision of lines/hoses, thereby achieving technical and economic advantages and minimising the amount of space needed.
- valves 55 may of course be varied within the concept of the inventive idea.
- the switching of the valves is preferably effected manually by changing the rotational position of an operating lever so that the set positions of the valves are displayed.
- the valves may also be remote-controllable and may where necessary also have more than two valve outlets.
