[0007] この冷却空気は、下型 2の底部 3の中央部に向けられた衝突噴流(断面は略円形) であるため、底部 3の中央の淀み点をピークとした山形の熱伝達率分布になる。この ような熱伝達率分布により下型の底部の温度は中央部では低く周辺部では高くなり、 パネル 1の周辺部は相対的に冷却されにくくなる。そのため、下型 2の周辺部の温度 を下げようとして冷却空気の供給量を増やすと、底部 3の中央部の温度が必要以上 に下がって過冷却を引き起こし、著しい成型性の悪化の原因となる。
[0008] このような問題を解決するため、特開 2000— 351638号公報(以下、特許文献 1と いう。)には、下型の底部に向けて冷却空気を供給するための吹き出し口の形状を略 矩形にすることによって、下型を効率よく均一に冷却する装置が提案されている。
[0009] し力しながら、特許文献 1に記載されている冷却装置の吹き出しロカも供給される 冷却空気は、下型の底部の中央部に向けられたスリット状の衝突噴流であるため、中 央の淀み点をピークにした山形の熱伝達率分布であることには変わりなぐ下型の周 辺部の冷却不足を解消することは困難である。
[0010] また、特開 2004— 277278号公報(以下、特許文献 2という。 )に、下型の底部中 央部を断熱することによって周辺部の冷却を強化し、生産性の向上を図る方法が提 案されている。
[0011] し力しながら、特許文献 2に記載されている方法では、下型の冷却はかなり改善さ れるが、まだ不十分であった。

発明の開示
発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0013] 近年、陰極線管の画像表示面 (スクリーン)のフラットィ匕が急速に進展して 、る。シャ ドウマスクを備える方式の陰極線管では、その構造上パネルの内側表面が比較的大 きな曲率を有する球面状でなければならない。そのため、図 7に示すように、パネル 1 のフェース部 13は、フラットィ匕に伴って周辺部の厚さが中央部の厚さの 2倍以上にも なるよう〖こ設計されることがある。
[0014] したがって、パネル 1のフェース部 13の断面は、短軸、長軸及び対角軸のいずれの 軸方向においても中央部 14力も周辺部 15に向力つて厚さが増加する偏肉形状とな る。このようなフェース部のパネルは偏肉パネルと呼ばれている。ただし、短軸、長軸 及び対角軸にぉ 、ては、それぞれに若干の肉厚分布の違 、がある。
[0015] この偏肉形状によって肉厚のパネル周辺部はさらに冷却されにくくなるため、前記 製造工程においてパネルを冷却する際に、中央部 14は過冷却、周辺部 15は冷却 不足という問題が生じる。そのときの下型の温度分布は、前記のように底部の中央部 の冷却は十分であっても、周辺部は相対的に冷却不足になる傾向がある。
[0016] また、近年の陰極線管の価格低下により、コストダウンのためのタクトタイム短縮が 要求されている。
[0017] しかし、従来設備で冷却時間を短縮すると下型の周辺部が冷却不足となり、例えば 図 5の位置 j等におけるパネルを下型から取り出す工程で、パネルが下型にはり付い て取り出せないという生産上の致命的な問題となるのでタクトタイム短縮は困難であ つた。このため、下型の中央部の過冷却を防止しつつ、より周辺部の冷却を促進でき る下型が求められていた。
[0018] 本発明は、上記の事情に鑑みてなされたものであって、陰極線管用ガラスパネル、 特にフ ース部の周辺部肉厚が中央部肉厚より大きい偏肉パネルの製造工程にお いて、下型を冷却する際、下型の底部の温度の高低差を低減し均一な温度分布に 近づけた下型、及び前記下型を用いた陰極線管用ガラスパネルの製造方法を提供 することを目的とする。
課題を解決するための手段
[0019] 前記目的を達成するために本発明は、略矩形の底部と該底部の四辺に設けられた 側壁部とによって形成され、前記底部と側壁部によって側方と下方を囲まれたガラス 充填部を有し、前記底部の下方の土台部に設けられた吹き出しロカ 前記底部の中 央部に向力つて供給される冷媒によって、該ガラス充填部内の陰極線管ガラスパネ ル成型物を間接的に冷却する陰極線管ガラスパネル成型用下型であって、前記底 部と吹き出し口との間に、冷媒の流れを遮蔽する遮蔽板が設けられ、前記土台部上 に、前記底部に向けて整流板が取り付けられ、該整流板は、前記吹き出し口の中心 を基準としたとき、前記遮蔽板の外周よりも外側の位置となるように設けられて 、るこ とを特徴とする陰極線管ガラスパネル成型用下型 (以下、本発明の下型という。)を提 供する。
すなわち、本発明の下型は、略矩形の底部と前記底部の四辺に設けられた側壁部 とによって形成された陰極線管ガラスパネル成型用ガラス充填部を有し、前記ガラス 充填部内の陰極線管ガラスパネル成型物を、前記底部の下方から底部の中央部に 供給される冷媒によって冷却する陰極線管ガラスパネル成型用下型であって、前記 底部の下方で、かつ前記冷媒の吹き出し口の上方に、前記下型の底部中央に合わ せて設けられた水平方向の遮蔽板と、前記遮蔽板より外側に設けられた垂直方向の 整流板と、が備えられて ヽることを特徴とするものである。
[0020] 本発明の下型は、上記したように前記遮蔽板が水平方向に設けられていることが好 ましい。また、前記整流板が前記下型の底部に対して垂直方向に設けられていること が好ましい。
[0021] さらに、前記整流板は、中央に孔があいていることが好ましぐ該孔は、直径が 10m m以上、 30mm以下の略円形であるとより好ましい。
[0022] また、本発明の下型において、前記整流板の上端と前記底部との間隙 C (下型の 底部と前記整流板の前記底部に対向する端面とのギャップ)は、 lmm≤C≤20mm であると一層好ましい。
[0023] さらに、本発明は、略矩形の底部と前記底部の四辺に設けられた側壁部とによって 形成された陰極線管ガラスパネル成型用下型に溶融ガラスを供給して陰極線管ガラ スパネル成型物を成型し、次いで、前記下型の底部の中央部に向けて冷媒を供給し 、前記下型内に充填された前記成型物を冷却する陰極線管用ガラスパネルの製造 方法において、前記下型を用いることを特徴とする陰極線管用ガラスパネルの製造 方法を提供する。
発明の効果
[0024] 本発明によれば、陰極線管用ガラスパネルの製造工程にお!/ヽて、陰極線管用ガラ スパネルの成型物の冷却のために下型を冷却する際、下型底部の中央部を過冷却 することなぐその周辺部を十分に冷却できる陰極線管用ガラスパネル下型及び陰 極線管用ガラスパネルの製造方法を提供できる。
本発明は、特にフ ース部の周辺部の肉厚が中央部の肉厚より著しく大きい偏肉 分布を有する、大型サイズ (例えば 29型以上)の陰極線管用パネル成型用下型の冷 却に対して好適であり、中でもアスペクト比が 16 : 9のパネルの成型に対して特に好 適である。
[0025] また、本発明は冷却時間を短縮しても下型の周辺部が冷却不足になることを防止 できる。そのため、図 5に示すような位置 jにおけるパネルを下型力も取り出す工程で 、パネルが下型にはり付いて取り出せないという問題は生じず、生産性の向上を実現 できる。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0028] 次に、本発明の陰極線管用ガラスパネル成型用下型の構成を実施例に基づいて 詳細に説明する。
[0029] 一般に、下型の底部中央部の下面に冷却空気を吹き付けてその衝突噴流によって 下型を冷却する場合、前記底部における熱伝達率分布は前記のように底部中央部 の淀み点をピークとする山形になる。よって、底部中央部の過冷却を回避するために は下型下方に遮蔽板を設置することが効果的であり、さらに、周辺部の冷却を促進 するためには整流板を設置することが効果的である。したがって、本発明は、下型の 底部の温度分布を調整するための手段として、下型の底部の下方に遮蔽板と整流 板を設ける。 [0030] 本発明では、前記遮蔽板は下型の底部下方の中央部に所定の効果が得られるよう に設けられる。下型の底部は、パネルのフェース部形状と実質的に相似形の矩形状 であるので、下型の底部の中央部はこの矩形状の中央部である。具体的には、下型 の底部の中央部は矩形の長軸と短軸とが交差する底部の中心力 所定範囲の領域 である。本発明は、この領域に所定の厚さの遮蔽板を、底部に沿って平行 (水平方向 )にかつ底部との間に所定間隔をもたせて設けることを特徴としている。また、遮蔽板 には冷却空気を一部通過させる孔が設けてあり、下型中央部の過度の保温を防止 する構造であることが好ましい。前記孔の位置としては、対称性の観点から遮蔽板の 中央部に設けることが好ましい。また、孔の形状は限定されないが、略円形が好まし い。
[0031] 本発明において、遮蔽板を垂直投影したときの形状は限定されない。本発明で遮 蔽板の平面形状というときはこの垂直投影形状をいう。この平面形状としては、円形 状や楕円形状の略円形のほかに矩形状、多角形状などの形状であってもよい。しか し、下型の底部下面には、成型装置に取付け固定するための脚が一般に底部中心 の周りに円形状に配置されているので、通常はこの脚で囲まれた領域内に略円形の 遮蔽板を設けるのが好ましい。このように遮蔽板を脚で囲まれた底部の中央部に設 けると、脚に遮蔽板を取付けることにより遮蔽板の設置が容易である。また、遮蔽板は 下型底部と下型を冷却する空気の吹き出し口の間に設置されていればよぐ下型底 部と遮蔽板の距離は 20mm程度であることがより好ましい。
[0032] 本発明における遮蔽板にあけられた孔の直径は 10〜30mmが好ましい。遮蔽板 にあけられた孔の直径が 10mm未満であると、底部の中央に衝突する冷却空気の量 が少なくなるため底部の中央部の保温が過度になる。また、前記孔の直径が 30mm より大きいと下型の底部中央部の冷却が強くなりすぎる。
[0033] 一方、前記整流板は例えば厚さ 2〜5mmの金属板をリング状にカ卩ェしたものを用 い、前記遮蔽板の外側に設置する。この場合、整流板は下型底部の下方の土台部 に対して垂直方向に設けられ、かつ遮蔽板との間に冷却空気が十分に流通できる隙 間が形成されることが好まし 、。
[0034] また、本発明における下型底部と整流板の前記底部に対向する端面とのギャップ、 すなわち前記整流板の上端と前記底部との間隙 Cは、 lmm≤C≤ 20mmであること が好ましい。なぜならば、前記間隙 Cが 20mmを超えると冷却空気の速度が十分で なく冷却効果が下がり、前記間隙 Cが lmm未満では圧力損失が大きすぎて冷却空 気が十分流れず所望の冷却効果が得られないからである。また、整流板は下型底部 と下型を冷却する空気の吹き出し口の間に設置されていればよぐ空気が整流板の 下方に逃げないように例えば図 2に示すように、空気の吹き出し口のある取付けフラ ンジ 8に当接又は埋め込んであることが好ましい。
[0035] また、前記間隙 Cは全周にわたつて均一である必要はなぐ長辺部と短辺部を異な る値にしてちよい。
[0036] 以上により、吹き出し口からの冷却空気の一部は、遮蔽板の中央部にあけられた孔 を通って底部の中央部に衝突し、その後周辺部に流れる。また前記冷却空気の残り は、遮蔽板に沿って周囲に流れ、その後整流板と遮蔽板との間を通って整流板に沿 つて流れて下型底部の周辺部に衝突し、最後に整流板と下型底部との間隙 (ギヤッ プ)から外側へ流れる。
[0037] 次に本発明の実施例を図面に従って具体的に説明する。図 1は、本発明の好まし い実施態である下型の平面図であり、図 2は図 1の A— A部における断面図である。 下型 2は、略矩形の底部 3と該底部 3の周縁にほぼ直角方向に延びる側壁部 4とによ つて略矩形状のガラス充填部が形成されている。そして、実際にパネルを成型する際 には、前記側壁部 4の上に中間型(図示せず)を載置して使用する。
[0038] 前記底部 3には、長軸及び短軸の各方向とそれらの中間の 45° の 8方向のうち、 冷却空気を長軸方向へ流れやすくするために長軸の 2方向を除 、て、他の 6方向に 6本の脚 7が配設されている。前記脚 7は、底部 3の中心部から一定の位置になるよう に配設されている。すなわち底部 3の中心の周りに円形状に配設されていて、これら 各々の脚 7の下端は、土台部としての取付けフランジ 8に固定されている。該取付け フランジ 8は回転盤 16に取付けられており、その結果下型 2は成型装置に固定され ている。なお、本実施例では、前記のように脚 7を 6本とした力 長軸の 2方向の脚を 細くする等、長軸方向への冷却空気を流れやすくするための対策を施す場合、脚 7 は 8本でもよく特に限定されない。 [0039] パネル成型工程において、冷却空気は流路 12を通り、取付けフランジ(土台部) 8 の中央に設けられた吹き出し口 9を通って下型 2の底部 3に衝突し、パネルの外周方 向に流れる。このような冷却空気の移動により、ゴブの加圧成型後、前記下型 2のガ ラス充填部に載置された陰極線管用ガラスパネル成型物 1は、冷却空気により先ず 下型 2の底部 3が冷却され、次に前記底部 3を介してパネル 1の外表面が冷却される
[0040] 本発明の下型 2は、前記の脚 7で囲まれた位置に、図 1及び図 2に示すように遮蔽 板 5が設けられる。具体的には、前記遮蔽板 5は前記底部 3と吹き出し口 9との間に、 底部 3から所定距離だけ離して下型 2の底部 3に沿って水平方向に設けられる。前記 遮蔽板 5の中央には直径 10mm〜30mmの孔があけられて!/、ることが好まし!/、。この 場合、遮蔽板 5は脚 7に固定するための腕 11を有しており、該腕 11を介して脚 7に固 定される。なお、前記遮蔽板 5の材質は金属であればよいが、ステンレス鋼であると 特に好ましい。
[0041] また、図 1に示すように、本発明の下型 2は脚 7の外側を囲むように整流板 6が設置 される。前記吹き出し口 9から遮蔽板 5に向力つて吹き出された冷却空気を遮蔽板 5 の外側から下型 2の底部 3に供給できるように、前記整流板 6はリング状をなしており 、底部 3の下方に垂直方向に設置されることが好ましい。前記下型 2の底部 3と整流 板 6の前記底部 3に対向する端面とのギャップ、すなわち前記整流板の上端と前記 底部との間隙 Cは、 lmm≤C≤ 20mmであることが好ましい。なお、整流板 6の厚さ は 2〜5mmであり、その材質は金属であればよいが、ステンレス鋼であると特に好ま しい。
実施例
[0042] 本発明の下型(図 1及び図 2に示した遮蔽板 5と整流板 6を有する下型 2)を用いて 、 32型陰極線管用パネルを製造した。このパネルは、アスペクト比が 16 : 9であり、フ エース部外表面が実質的にフラット(曲率半径 50000mm)である。フェース部の中 央部の肉厚は約 12mm、フェース部の周辺部にあたる長軸端部の肉厚は約 20mm 、対角軸端部の肉厚は約 24mmであり、肉厚にばらつきを有している。
[0043] また、遮蔽板 5は中央部に直径 20mmの孔 10を有する直径 200mm、厚さ 5mmの 円形板であり、下型 2の底部 3から 20mm下方に設置した。前記遮蔽板 5は、脚 7に 囲まれている。また、整流板 6の厚さは 2mmとした。下型 2の底部 3と整流板 6の前記 下型 2の底部 3に対向する端面とのギャップ (整流板の上端と前記底部との間隙 C) は長軸方向を優先的に冷却するため、長軸方向を 7mm、短軸方向を 2mmとした。 なお、図 3は、整流板 6の周方向を横軸とする前記ギャップの分布図である。
[0044] 一方、下型に対する冷却空気の供給は従来の冷却空気供給装置(図示せず)を使 用し、冷却空気の吹き出し口 9の内径は直径 60mm、冷却空気の流速は約 50mZ 秒、 1ポジション当たりの空気吹き出し開始から吹き出し停止までの時間を 18秒に設 し 7こ。
[0045] また、比較例として図 6に示すような従来の下型を準備し、前記実施例の下型を取 付けた成型装置の別の位置にこの比較例の下型を設置して、前記パネルを同一条 件で成型した。
[0046] 次に、パネルが取り出された直後のタイミングで、下型の内面温度を長軸に沿って 実際に測定した。図 4はこの下型の長軸内面温度分布であり、実線は実施例におけ る下型の温度分布図、鎖線は従来の下型の温度分布図である。図 4に示すように比 較例では下型内面中央部の温度が 495°C、長軸端の最大温度が 600°Cであったの に対し、実施例では底面中央部の温度が 500°C、長軸端の最大温度が 540°Cであ つた o
[0047] この結果より、本発明は下型中央部の温度を低下させずに周辺部の温度を下げる 効果が十分に得られることが確認できた。
[0048] 以上より、本発明によれば、フェース部の周辺部の肉厚が中央部の肉厚より大きい 陰極線管用ガラスパネルの製造工程において下型を冷却する際、下型底部の中央 部を過冷却することなぐその周辺部を適切に冷却できる陰極線管用ガラスパネル下 型及び陰極線管用ガラスパネルの製造方法を提供できる。
産業上の利用可能性
[0049] 本発明は、フェース部がフラットでありフェース部の周辺部の肉厚が中央部の肉厚 より大き ヽ、大型サイズの陰極線管用ガラスパネルの成型に好適である。 なお、 2005年 12月 27曰に出願された日本特許出願 2005— 375009号の明細書 、特許請求の範囲、図面及び要約書の全内容をここに引用し、本発明の明細書の開 示として、取り入れるものである。

請求の範囲
[1] 略矩形の底部と該底部の四辺に設けられた側壁部とによって形成され、前記底部 と側壁部によって側方と下方を囲まれたガラス充填部を有し、前記底部の下方の土 台部に設けられた吹き出しロカ 前記底部の中央部に向かって供給される冷媒によ つて、前記ガラス充填部内の陰極線管ガラスパネル成型物を間接的に冷却する陰極 線管ガラスパネル成型用下型であって、
前記底部と吹き出し口との間に、冷媒の流れを遮蔽する遮蔽板が設けられ、 前記土台部上に、前記底部に向けて整流板が取り付けられ、
該整流板は、前記吹き出し口の中心を基準としたとき、前記遮蔽板の外周よりも外 側の位置となるように設けられて 、ることを特徴とする陰極線管ガラスパネル成型用 下型。
[2] 前記遮蔽板が、水平方向に設けられて 、る請求項 1に記載の陰極線管ガラスパネ ル成型用下型。
[3] 前記整流板が、前記土台部に対して垂直方向に設けられている請求項 1又は請求 項 2に記載の陰極線管ガラスパネル成型用下型。
[4] 前記遮蔽板の中央に孔がぁ 、て 、る請求項 1〜3の 、ずれ力 1項に記載の陰極線 管ガラスパネル成型用下型。
[5] 前記遮蔽板の孔は、略円形であり、前記孔の直径は 10mm以上、 30mm以下であ る請求項 4に記載の陰極線管ガラスパネル成型用下型。
[6] 前記整流板の上端と前記底部との間隙 C力 lmm≤C≤20mmである請求項 1〜
5のいずれか 1項に記載の陰極線管ガラスパネル成型用下型。
[7] 略矩形の底部と前記底部の四辺に設けられた側壁部とによって形成された陰極線 管ガラスパネル成型用下型に溶融ガラスを供給して陰極線管ガラスパネル成型物を 成型し、次いで、前記下型の底部の中央部に向けて冷媒を供給し、前記下型内に充 填された前記成型物を冷却する陰極線管用ガラスパネルの製造方法において、 前記請求項 1から 6のいずれ力 1項に記載の陰極線管ガラスパネル成型用下型を 用いることを特徴とする陰極線管用ガラスパネルの製造方法。
