  • the base part and/or the lateral supports can be manufactured of a plastic material, particularly of a glass fibre reinforced PA. Due to the manufacturing of a plastic material the support element is particularly lightweight but nevertheless stable and break resistant. Further, the complex shapes of base part and lateral supports, and if applicable also the integrated lumbar support, can be easily and cost efficiently manufactured for example by injection molding, deep drawing or thermo forming of the plastic material.

Thereby it is possible to increase the lateral support of the backrest or to decrease it, respectively, to adjust the lateral support of the backrest narrower or wider. Thereby, the lateral support 30 can be adapted to the corresponding passenger.
  • the lateral supports 30 respectively comprise of an essentially flat, longitudinal part which is convexly rounded in direction to the passenger.
  • the convex shape can particularly be seen in Figs. 2A and 2B.
  • the lateral supports 30 do not form tangible edges below the cushioning and are adapted to the lateral lumbar area of the back of the passenger.
  • Fig. 3 shows that the lateral supports 30 in transversal direction Q of the backrest comprise three adjacently arranged areas 31, 32 and 33, as indicated by the chain dotted lines.
  • the lateral supports 30 in respect to their arrangement on the support element 1 comprise an inner, stiff mounting portion 31 which is provided with mounting clips 36.
  • the lateral supports 30 are supported at the base part 20 by means of the mounting clips 36 and the shaft 40.

  • transition portion 32 Since the transition portion 32 is resilient, the end portion 33 is resiliently supported with respect to the mounting portion 31. This leads to a further increase of the comfort of the backrest and in case of an accident it increases the passenger's safety.
  • the transition portion 32 as well as also the end portion 33 is curved in longitudinal direction L in such a way that the lateral supports 30 are well adapted to the back of the passengers and particularly provide a stronger support effect in the centre M compared to the corresponding ends.

  • Fig. 2 A shows a position of the lateral supports 30 for less lateral support, respectively, for a passenger having a wide back. In this case the lateral supports 30 are pivoted such that they laterally abut the base part 20. If the passenger desires more lateral support, respectively, if the passenger has a narrower back, the lateral supports 30 can be pivoted around the shaft 40 to the inside respectively to the front, as shown in Fig. 2B. Of course, all positions of the lateral support 30 can be adjusted stepless between the position shown in Fig. 2A and the one shown in Fig. 2B.

Therefore, an integrated support element module for a common assembly within the backrest frame 10 is formed, which comprises adjustable lateral supports 30 as well as an adjustable lumbar support 50.

At the top portion 52 of the lumbar support 50 is moveably connected with the base part 20 by means of a resilient strip of material.   • the lumbar support 50 is likewise controlled by two Bowden cables 64, whose sheaths are connected in vertical arranged receptacles 28 at the base part 20 and whose cables are connected to the bottom part 54 of the lumbar support 50.
  • the Bowden cables 64 are actuated by the actuation element 66 which can be the same or similar to the actuation element 62 and can likewise be mounted at the backrest frame 10.
  • the support element 1 therefore unites an adjustable lumbar support 50 as well as adjustable lateral supports 30 in an integrated component.
  • the lumbar support 50 as well as also the lateral supports 30 can be commonly assembled within the backrest frame 10.
  • the base part 20 and/or the lateral supports 30 are preferably made of a plastic material, particularly of a glass fibre reinforced polyamide PA.
  • the single components can for example be produced by means of injection molding, deep drawing or thermo forming. It is conceivable to produce the base part 20 and/or the lateral supports 30 from a sheet metal by deep drawing and stamping.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un élément de support (1), en particulier pour le dossier d’un siège de véhicule à moteur, comportant une partie base (20), qui peut être montée sur une structure de dossier (10), et au moins deux supports latéraux (30) qui sont en mesure d’être pivotés et montés de manière latérale au niveau de la partie base (20) et qui sont réglables pour changer le support latéral du dossier.
