Abstract
本発明の排気浄化装置は、排気入口から排気出口へ至る排気経路が一回以上折り返されるように内部を仕切ることで、複数の階層経路を内部に形成したケーシングと、還元剤を用いてNOxを還元浄化する還元触媒と、該還元触媒よりも排気上流に前記還元剤又はその前駆体を噴射するノズルと、排気中のPMを捕集するフィルタ(DPF)と、を含んで構成され、前記還元触媒と前記DPFとが、異なる前記階層経路に配置されていることを特徴とする。SCRによるNOx除去及びPM捕集の両機能を加えた排気浄化装置のコンパクト化を図ることができる。

明 細 書
排気浄化装置
技術分野
[0001] 本発明は、排気に含まれる窒素酸化物 (NOx)を除去する排気浄ィ匕装置に係り、 特に、選択還元触媒 (SCR)を採用した排気浄化装置に関する。
背景技術
[0002] エンジンの排気に含まれる NOxを除去する排気浄ィ匕装置として、特許文献 1に開 示されたような SCR式の排気浄ィ匕装置が提案されている。
この排気浄化装置は、排気系に還元触媒 (NOx浄化触媒)を配設し、該還元触媒 よりも排気上流にノズルカゝら還元剤を噴射して添加することにより、排気中の NOxと 還元剤とを触媒還元反応させて、 NOxを無害成分に浄化処理するものである。その 還元反応は、 NOxと反応性が良好なアンモニアを用いるものであり、このための還元 剤としては、排気熱及び排気中の水蒸気により加水分解してアンモニアを容易に発 生する尿素水溶液に加え、アンモニア水溶液又は HC類など、前駆体を含めた各種 の還元剤が用いられる。

発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0003] 上記のような SCR式排気浄ィヒ装置にぉ 、ては、還元触媒と、この還元触媒よりも排 気上流に還元剤又はその前駆体を噴射するノズルと、を直列配置している。この直 列配置に加えて、排気中の粒子状物質 (PM)を捕集するためのフィルタを配置しな ければならな 、とすると、排気系にお 、て排気浄化装置の占める長さ方向の寸法が 長くなつて、車載レイアウトが難しくなる。すなわち、今後の排出ガス規制強化を視野 に入れて、 NOx除去に加えて PM捕集の機能も備えた SCR式の排気浄ィ匕装置を実 現しようとした場合、ノズル及び還元触媒に加えて PM捕集フィルタを設けたレイァゥ トを工夫し、装置の小型化を図る必要がある。
[0004] 本発明はこの点に着目し、 SCRによる NOx除去と PM捕集の両機能を加えた排気
浄化装置のコンパクト化を目的とするものである。
課題を解決するための手段
[0005] 本発明の排気浄化装置は、排気入口力 排気出口へ至る排気経路が一回以上折 り返されるように内部を仕切ることで、複数の階層経路を内部に形成したケーシングと 、還元剤を用いて窒素酸化物を還元浄化する還元触媒と、該還元触媒よりも排気上 流に前記還元剤又はその前駆体を噴射するノズルと、排気中の粒子状物質を捕集 するフィルタと、を含んで構成され、前記還元触媒と前記フィルタとが、異なる前記階 層経路に配置されて ヽることを特徴とする。
[0006] 好ま 、態様では、前記ノズルは、前記排気経路の折り返し部分に形成される折返 通路部の排気上流側に配置することができる。
また、本発明の排気浄化装置には、前記ノズルよりも排気上流の前記排気経路に 配置され、排気中の一酸化窒素を二酸化窒素に酸化する酸化触媒をさらに含むこと ができる。あるいは、前記フィルタが、前記ノズルよりも排気上流に配置され、排気中 の一酸化窒素を二酸化窒素に酸化する酸化触媒物質を担持している構成となって いてもよい。
[0007] さらに、本発明の排気浄化装置には、前記還元触媒よりも排気下流の前記排気経 路に配置され、排気中の還元剤を酸化する還元剤酸化触媒をさらに含むこともでき る。あるいは、前記フィルタ力 前記還元触媒よりも排気下流に配置され、排気中の 還元剤を酸化する還元剤酸化触媒物質を担持して ヽる構成となって ヽてもよ ヽ。 発明の効果
[0008] 本発明に係る排気浄ィ匕装置によれば、ケーシング内で少なくとも一回折り返して複 数の階層経路が折り重なる形態とした排気経路に、ノズル、還元触媒、フィルタを適 宜分配して配置するようにしたので、その排気経路の折り返しにより、排気系におい て排気浄化装置の占める長さ方向の寸法を縮めることができ、レイアウトしやすくなる また、排気経路の折返し部分に形成された折返通路部にぉ ヽて排気上流側にノズ ルを配置することにより、該折返通路部よりも排気下流に配置される還元触媒との間 の距離を稼ぐことが可能となる。これにより、ノズルから排気中へ噴射された還元剤又
はその前駆体が還元触媒へ到達するまでに、該還元剤又はその前駆体の排気中均 一拡散や加水分解に適した距離、時間を確保することが可能となる。
[0009] さらに、排気経路においてノズルよりも排気上流に酸ィヒ触媒を配置すれば、当該酸 化触媒による NOの酸化作用により、還元触媒における還元効率を向上させることが できる。あるいは、 PMを捕集するためのフィルタに NOの酸ィ匕触媒の機能を兼備さ せて、該フィルタをノズルよりも排気上流に配置する構成であれば、部品点数の低減 を図ることができる。
[0010] 加えて、排気経路において還元触媒よりも排気下流に還元剤の酸化触媒を配置す れば、当該酸化触媒による酸化作用により、還元触媒を通過した還元剤の排出を防 止することができる。あるいは、 PMを捕集するためのフィルタに還元剤の酸ィ匕触媒の 機能を兼備させて、該フィルタを還元触媒よりも排気下流に配置する構成であれば、 部品点数の低減を図ることができる。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0013] 図 1から図 5に、本発明の実施形態を各種例示している。
各実施形態に係る SCR式の排気浄化装置は、還元剤又はその前駆体(当実施形 態では尿素水溶液を使用する)を貯蔵したタンク 1から適量の尿素水溶液をノズル 2 へ供給するための添加装置 3と、排気温度やエンジン 4の ECU (電子制御ユニット) 5 力 得られるエンジン回転速度等に応じて添加装置 3の供給制御を行う ECU6と、を 備えている。また、タンク 1内における測定に適した位置、たとえばタンク底面近傍に は尿素水溶液の濃度センサ 7が垂下され、 ECU6へ測定信号を出力して 、る。
[0014] ケーシング 10は、各実施形態とも、角を丸めた (Rを付けた)角形の箱で、エンジン 4からの排気管 8に通じる排気入口 11から排気が流入し、該流入した排気は、排気 入口 11と同じ側面に設けられた排気出口 12から排出される。そして、その排気入口 11から排気出口 12へ至る排気経路が一回折り返されるように、ケーシング 10の内部 を区画壁 13が仕切っている。すなわち区画壁 13は、ケーシング 10の内部を、排気 入口 11側の室と排気出口 12側の室との二室に区切り、当該二室が折返通路部 14 でのみ通じるように仕切っている。これにより、ケーシング 10の内部には、折返通路 部 14で通じ合う二つの階層経路 15, 16が折り重なった形態で、排気経路が形成さ れている。
[0015] したがって排気は、矢印 Aで示すように、排気入口 11から入って上流側階層経路 1 5を通り、折返通路部 14で折り返された後、下流側階層経路 16を通って排気出口 1 2から排出される。なお、区画壁 13により折り返された排気経路の折り返し部分であ る折返通路部 14は、図示の例の場合 1箇所であるが、区画壁をラビリンス状に設ける などして折返通路部を増やし、排気経路を折り返す回数を多くすることで階層経路を さら〖こ多く形成することちできる。
[0016] このように、排気経路を区画壁 13により折り返し形成することで複数の階層経路 15
, 16を折り重ね形成したケーシング 10内に、後述のようにして還元触媒及びフィルタ を分配配置すると、排気系において排気浄ィ匕装置の占める長さ方向の寸法 L (図 1 参照)が従来構造の約半分程度にコンパクト化される。このような効果に加えて、ケー シング 10は、縦置きや横置き等、取付箇所の都合に合わせて設置の向きを自在に 決めることができるので、より設計の自由度を向上させることができる。なお、縦置きは 、階層経路 15, 16が上下に並ぶ配置、横置きは、階層経路 15, 16が前後、左右に 並ぶ配置である。
[0017] 図示の各実施形態の排気浄ィ匕装置では、排気中の NOを NOに酸化して還元効

率を向上させるための酸ィ匕触媒 20が、ケーシング 10内の排気経路における最も排 気上流に配置されている。そして当該排気浄ィ匕装置は、酸化触媒 20を通った後の 排気中にノズル 2から尿素水溶液を噴射し、これによりアンモニアが還元剤として添 加された排気を還元触媒 (NOx浄ィ匕触媒) 21に通して NOxを還元浄ィ匕する構成を もつ。加えて当該排気浄ィ匕装置には、還元触媒 21を通過したアンモニアを酸化する 還元剤酸化触媒 22が還元触媒 21よりも排気下流に配置される。
[0018] 各実施形態においてはさらに、これらの触媒にカ卩えて、 PM捕集のためのフィルタ 2 3が、還元触媒 21の配置された階層経路 15, 16とは異なる階層経路 15, 16に配置 される。
ただし、酸ィ匕触媒 20は NOx除去性能を向上させるための要素であり、還元剤酸化 触媒 22はアンモニアの排出を防止するための要素であるので、 NOx除去と PM捕集 の機能に必須要素という訳ではない。したがって、最低限、還元触媒 21とフィルタ 23 とがケーシング 10に分配配置されて!、ればよ!/、。
[0019] これら、触媒 20〜22とフィルタ 23を配置するバリエーションにっき図 1〜図 5に示し ている。図示のケーシング 10は、折返通路部 14を間にして、排気入口 11のある上流 側階層経路 15を上段、排気出口 12のある下流側階層経路 16を下段とした、縦置き 型として示されている。なお、図示の例では排気入口 11と排気出口 12とを上下段階 層に離して配置してあるが、車載レイアウトを考慮した場合、排気入口 11と排気出口 12とを近接させて、上流側階層経路 15又は下流側階層経路 16に両者を配置するこ とも可能である。
[0020] 図 1に示す第 1実施形態のケーシング 10では、区画壁 13による折返通路部 14より も排気上流の上流側階層経路 15に、上流力も下流へ向けて順に酸ィ匕触媒 20とフィ ルタ 23とが直列配置されている。また、区画壁 13による折返通路部 14よりも排気下 流の下流側階層経路 16には、上流から下流へ向けて順に還元触媒 21と還元剤酸 化触媒 22とが直列配置されている。そして、この第 1実施形態の場合のノズル 2は、 折返通路部 14にお ヽて排気上流側に配設されており、還元触媒 21の排気上流に 尿素水溶液を噴射する。
[0021] 上流側階層経路 15から下流側階層経路 16へ折り返す通り道である折返通路部 1 4は、ケーシング 10の略高さ相当の長さをもつので、この折返通路部 14の排気上流 側にノズル 2を設置することで、ノズル 2と還元触媒 21との間の距離を稼ぐことができ 、ノズル 2から排気中へ噴射された尿素水溶液の均一な拡散及び加水分解に最適な 距離、時間を確保することが可能となる。そして、区画壁 13により排気経路が折り返 され且つ還元触媒 21とフィルタ 23とが異なる階層経路 15, 16に分配配置されてい るので、排気系において排気浄化装置の占める長さ方向の寸法を従来の半分程度 に抑えることができている。
[0022] 図 2に示す第 2実施形態のケーシング 10では、上流側階層経路 15に、上流から下 流へ向けて順に酸ィ匕触媒 20と還元触媒 21とが直列配置されている。また、下流側 階層経路 16には、上流から下流へ向けて順にフィルタ 23と還元剤酸ィ匕触媒 22とが 直列配置されている。そしてノズル 2は、上流側階層経路 15において、酸化触媒 20 と還元触媒 21との間に配設されて!/ヽる。
[0023] この第 2実施形態の場合も、排気系において排気浄ィ匕装置の占める長さ方向の寸 法について、第 1実施形態同様の効果を得ることができる。
図 3に示す第 3実施形態のケーシング 10では、上流側階層経路 15に、上流から下 流へ向けて順に酸化触媒 20と還元触媒 21とが直列配置され、また、下流側階層経 路 16に、上流から下流へ向けて順に還元剤酸ィ匕触媒 22とフィルタ 23とが直列配置 されている。そしてノズル 2は、上流側階層経路 15において、酸化触媒 20と還元触 媒 21との間に配設されて 、る。
[0024] この第 3実施形態は、還元剤酸ィ匕触媒 22とフィルタ 23の位置関係を第 2実施形態
と逆にしたもので、第 2実施形態と同様の利点をもつ。
図 4に示す第 4実施形態は、 NOを酸化する酸化触媒の機能を兼ねたフィルタ 24を 用いた例である。フィルタ 24は、 PM捕集フィルタの表面に酸化触媒物質を担持させ ることで形成することができる。この第 4実施形態のケーシング 10では、フィルタ 24が 上流側階層経路 15に配置され、下流側階層経路 16には、上流から下流へ向けて順 に還元触媒 21と還元剤酸化触媒 22とが直列配置されている。そして、ノズル 2は、折 返通路部 14にお ヽて排気上流側に配設され、還元触媒 21の排気上流に尿素水溶 液を噴射する。
[0025] 第 4実施形態ではノズル 2を折返通路部 14に設置しているので、第 1実施形態同 様の利点を得ることができる。カロえて、酸化触媒を兼ねたフィルタ 24を使用すること により、部品点数の低減を図ることができる。
図 5に示す第 5実施形態は、還元剤酸化触媒の機能を持たせたフィルタ 25を用い た例である。フィルタ 24は、 PM捕集フィルタの表面にアンモニアの酸ィ匕触媒物質を 担持させることで形成することができる。この第 5実施形態のケーシング 10では、上流 側階層経路 15に、上流力も下流へ向けて順に酸ィ匕触媒 20と還元触媒 21とが直列 配置され、下流側階層経路 16にフィルタ 25が配置されている。そして、ノズル 2は、 上流側階層経路 15において、酸化触媒 20と還元触媒 21との間に配設されている。
[0026] 第 5実施形態の場合は、第 2実施形態と同様の利点に加えて、還元剤酸化触媒を 兼ねたフィルタ 25を使用することにより、部品点数の低減を図ることができる。
Claims
[1] 排気入口力 排気出口へ至る排気経路が一回以上折り返されるように内部を仕切 ることで、複数の階層経路を内部に形成したケーシングと、
還元剤を用いて窒素酸化物を還元浄化する還元触媒と、
該還元触媒よりも排気上流に前記還元剤又はその前駆体を噴射するノズルと、 排気中の粒子状物質を捕集するフィルタと、
を含んで構成され、
前記還元触媒と前記フィルタとが、異なる前記階層経路に配置されて ヽることを特 徴とする排気浄化装置。
[2] 前記ノズルは、前記排気経路の折り返し部分に形成される折返通路部の排気上流 側に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項 1記載の排気浄化装置。
[3] 前記ノズルよりも排気上流の前記排気経路に配置され、排気中の一酸ィ匕窒素を二 酸化窒素に酸化する酸化触媒をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項 1記載の排気浄 化装置。
[4] 前記フィルタが、前記ノズルよりも排気上流に配置され、排気中の一酸化窒素を二 酸化窒素に酸化する酸化触媒物質を担持していることを特徴とする請求項 1記載の 排気浄化装置。
[5] 前記還元触媒よりも排気下流の前記排気経路に配置され、排気中の還元剤を酸化 する還元剤酸化触媒をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項 1記載の排気浄化装置。
[6] 前記フィルタが、前記還元触媒よりも排気下流に配置され、排気中の還元剤を酸化 する還元剤酸化触媒物質を担持していることを特徴とする請求項 1記載の排気浄ィ匕 装置。
