Definitions

  • the invention relates to an airbag device for a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such an airbag device comprises a body region, which can serve as a carrier of the airbag device, a first gas bag which is arranged on the body region of the motor vehicle such that it is inflatable between the body region and a collision object located outside the motor vehicle, a gas generator for releasing a to Inflating the first gas bag serving gas and a second, for the protection of a vehicle occupant inflatable airbag, which is designed and provided for arrangement in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle.

  • a pre-crash sensor system can be used which detects a collision even before the collision occurs. This makes it possible to inflate the airbags of the airbag device in time before the collision and thus to bring into position.
