Definitions
- the present invention relates to a slide-type range hood, which is constructed so that a slider is mounted to a lower portion of a hood housing in such a way as to be pushed into or pulled out from the hood housing, an exhaust fan is installed in the hood housing and operated to suck odors and hot air from a room, especially a kitchen, through exhaust filters mounted to the bottom of the hood housing and the bottom of the slider, prior to discharging the odors and hot air through a backdraft exhaust damper to the atmosphere, an air supply housing having an air supply fan is mounted on the hood housing, and a front injection trough having a nozzle along the bottom thereof is mounted to the front of the slider, thus jetting exterior air, drawn by the operation of the air supply fan installed in the air supply housing, through the nozzle of the front injection trough, therefore forming an air curtain under the front of the range hood.
- Background Art
- a conventional slide-type range hood 1 includes a box-shaped hood housing 2.
- a backdraft damper 4 equipped with an exhaust fan 5 is installed in the hood housing 2, and an exhaust filter 6 is mounted to the bottom of the hood housing 2.
- Side support frames 3 are provided along opposite sides of a lower portion of the hood housing 2.
- a slider 10 is inserted through an opening 2-1 provided on the front of the hood housing 2 and supported on the side support frames 3 to be pushed into or pulled out from the hood housing 2, with a front plate 11 attached to the front of the slider 10.
- An exhaust duct 12 is defined in the slider 10 and opens rearwards, with an exhaust filter 13 mounted to the bottom of the slider 10.
- a limit switch 7 is installed at a rear position on theinner surface of either of the side support frames 3, and detects whether the slider 10 is pushed into or pulled out fromthe hood housing 2, thus controlling the operation of the exhaust fan 5.
- the exhaust fan 5 When the electricity is supplied to the exhaust fan 5, the exhaust fan 5 operates to suck air from a room. Due to the suction force of the exhaust fan 5, odors and hot air produced from a cooking apparatus, such as a gas range, are forcibly drawn into the hood housing 2 through the exhaust filters 6 and 13 that are mounted to the bottom of the hood housing 2 and the bottom ofthe slider 10, respectively. The odors and hot air, drawn through the exhaust filters 6 and 13 into the hood housing 2, are discharged through the backdraft damper 4 to the atmosphere.
- a cooking apparatus such as a gas range
- the conventional slide-type range hood 1, constructed and operated as described above, is problematic in that it merely sucks odors and hot air produced from a cooking apparatus, such as a gas range, using the suction force of the exhaust fan 5, so that it is impossible to completely suck odors, hot air, and noxious gases produced bythe cooking apparatus. Thereby, some of the odors, hot air, and noxious gases produced from the cooking apparatus may disperse into a room, thus making indoor air dirty.
- the present invention has been made keeping in mind the above problems occurring in the prior art, and the present invention aims to provide an improved slide-type range hood.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a slide-type range hood, which is constructed so that a slider is mounted to thelower portion of a hood housing in such a way as to be pushed into or pulled out fromthe hood housing, an exhaust fan is installed in the hood housing and operated to suck odors and hot air from a room, especially a kitchen, through exhaust filters mounted to the bottom of the hood housing and the bottom of the slider, prior to discharging the odors and hot air through a backdraft exhaust damper to the atmosphere, an air supply housing having an air supply fan is mounted on the hood housing, and a front injection trough having a nozzle along the bottom thereof is mounted to the front of the slider.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a slide-type range hood, which jets exterior air, drawn by the operation of an air supply fan installed in an air supply housing, through the nozzle of a front injection trough, thus forming an air curtain under thefront of the range hood, therefore preventing the spread of odors, hot air, and noxious gases produced by a cooking apparatus, such as a gas range, and preventing indoor air from being polluted. Further, the air curtain allows odors, hot air, and noxious gases existing around the range hood to be more easily and smoothly discharged to the atmosphere.
- a further object of the present invention is to provide a slide-type range hood, which uses exterior air as air that is jetted under the front of the range hood through thenozzle of a front injection trough to thus form an air curtain, and supplies the exterior air to a room, thus ventilating the room, and keeping the room more pleasant.
- the present invention provides a slide-type range hood, including a hood housing, a slider mounted to a lower portion of the hood housing in such a way as to be pulled out from or pushed into the hood housing, a limit switch to detect whether the slider has been pulled out from the hood housing, an exhaust fan operating when the slider has been pulled out from the hood housing, thus drawing odors, hot air, and noxious gases from a room through an exhaust filter mounted to a bottom of the hood housing and an exhaust filter mounted to a bottom of the slider, and a backdraft damper to discharge the drawn odors, hot air, and noxious gases to the atmosphere, wherein an air supply housing is mounted to a predetermined position on the hood housing to be isolated from the hood housing, and includesan air supply chamber, an air supply fan installed in the air supply chamber, and an air supply filter mounted to an upper surface of the air supply housing, and a front injection trough is mounted to a front of the slider which is mounted to
