More particularly the invention relates to a mechanism comprising: - a first element which comprises a guide extending between a first and a second substantially parallel edges; - A second element comprising a lug extending in the guide and movable along said guide, said lug having a given width in the transverse direction of the guide; and - at least one device for locking said lug.
- Many writing instruments include such a mechanism for removing or retracting a writing point which is most often a ball point.
- the guide also called a cam path, is produced in the form of a groove or a slot.
- the guide extends generally in the longitudinal direction, the mechanism then being controlled by a push button. For these latter mechanisms, the guide can be terminated by a heart-shaped path in which the lug is trapped between two actions exerted on the button.

In the embodiment shown, there are five of these parts, but it would be possible to make a pen only in 3 parts by integrating the tip 2 with the first part 3 and by integrally forming the movable member 8 with the cartridge 5. Consequently, the embodiment described above makes it possible to produce a particularly inexpensive writing article whose number of assembly operations is limited.
