Abstract

Procédé permettant la croissance catalytique de nanotubes de carbone individuels et orientés essentiellement perpendiculairement au substrat (14) caractérisé par l'utilisation d'une première chambre (11) constituant une source d'ions de produits carbonés (13), d'une deuxième chambre (12) de croissance dans laquelle est placé ledit substrat (14) sur un support chauffant (15), lesdits ions (13) étant accélérés vers ledit substrat (14) par un optique électronique (16,17,18) dirigeant lesdits ions essentiellement perpendiculairement à la surface dudit substrat (14). La présente invention permet d'optimiser les caractéristiques des nanotubes en termes de hauteur, positionnement et direction de croissance. Les nanotubes obtenus de cette façon ont d'excellentes caractéristiques d'émission de champ, ils peuvent donc particulièrement être utilisés comme sources froides d'électrons.
