Definitions
- the present invention relates to an expansion joint specially designed for concrete works, specifically for obtaining concrete flooring in which, once the concrete is poured on site, it is necessary to extend it to achieve paving with a flat surface and required height
- the joint of the invention is not only usable as a expansion joint, but also as a master rule, as a guide rail for the surface vibrators of the concrete, as a closing table, as a working joint and as a contraction joint.
- the object of the invention is to avoid deformation cracks, avoid hydraulic and thermal shrinkage, absorb concrete stresses, protect the edges of the concrete, avoid the difference in level of the work joint by warping, prevent the joint from protruding from the level of concrete in the curing process, and increase the possibility of getting a flatter floor.
- the laser method not as effective as the previous one, takes the reference level in motion and, during the pouring of the concrete, the laser receiver and the sight or stick that supports said receiver, is placed above the non-seated concrete, removing some reference points (teachers), whose stability leaves much to be desired, since the people themselves who are spreading the concrete next to the teachers can easily modify the reference level.
- the sight that supports the receiver is not completely perpendicular to the ground, which also modifies the laser reading with respect to the level of the actual work level. All these factors mean that once the concrete floor is finished and analyzed, an irregular surface is detected, bumpy and several centimeters apart from the actual reference level.
- work joints must be placed, the contraction cut made and on large surfaces or exteriors, also place expansion joints.
- the third method consists in the use of machines with automatic leveling, although they offer better results than those of the method laser, also do not allow obtaining high planimetry work, since the hydraulic system, today, can not guarantee pinpoint accuracy, without taking into account that the system is mounted on floating extendable arms that are manually collected through of an operator and that any sudden movement causes a sway in the arms that support the vibrating ruler, transmitting these vibrations to the pavement. Also in this case you have to use work joints, make a contraction cut and on large surfaces or exteriors place expansion joints.
- the expansion joint proposed by the invention is especially suitable for applying to the first of the methods mentioned above, since in principle it constitutes a master rule that, in addition and as previously stated, acts as a guide rail for surface vibrators, can be used as a closing table or as a working joint, and also constitute a contraction and expansion joint.
- the joint proposed by the invention is constituted by the functional combination of two pieces profiled basically according to a right triangle, of appropriate length, such as 3 meters, with particular feature that said parts are tongue and groove coupled through one of its faces, specifically through its coupling faces corresponding to one of the legs of its section counting one of said pieces with a groove rectangular while the other has a complementary external or male deformation, so that the combination of both pieces in turn generates a new profile, in this case a basically triangular isoscelic section.
- each of the aforementioned pieces incorporates, in correspondence with that of its upper edge or vertex, a plastic band, so that in the assembly of both pieces the respective bands of plastic are contacted to each other and slightly protruding with respect to the double metal profile.
- the two participating pieces of the joint have both the lateral and upper face corresponding to the hypotenuse of its section, as well as the profusely perforated lower face, to allow access to the concrete inside, which does not happen with its inter-coupling side faces, They are totally closed.
- the two integral metal parts of the joint are in turn provided, at conveniently spaced or sized intervals, with special holes for coupling vertical pins intended to drive into the ground and to support to the joint, with the possibility of height adjustment for it, for which purpose with each vertical pin a transverse clamping screw collaborates, also established in the corresponding piece.
- Figure 1 shows a partial and perspective view of an expansion joint for concrete works made in accordance with the object of the present invention, which appears devoid of its support pins on the ground.
- Figure 2. Shows a schematic representation in profile of the joint of the previous figure, now resting on the ground, but with its two pieces decoupled to show more clearly its structure.
- Figure 3. Shows a detail in perspective of one of the pieces participating in the meeting, at the level of one of the support pins of the same.
- Figure 4. It shows, finally, a sectional detail similar to the profile of Figure 2, but with the two pieces of the joint properly inter-coupled and with said joint immersed in the concrete mass constituting the pavement.
- the expansion joint proposed by the invention is structured by means of two profiled, tubular and metal parts (1) and (2), basically of a straight triangular section, one of them (1) provided on its face (3) of coupling to the other of a wide rectangular groove (4), while the other (2) has an external deformation (5), also rectangular, intended to fit in the groove (4) to establish a tongue and groove coupling, as observed in any of figures 2 and 4, so that after coupling between these parts (1) and (2), the joint as a whole adopts an isoscele triangular profile, for example with a length of 3 meters, a height between 10 and 15 cm, and a width of the order of 12 cm, dimensions that are cited merely by way of example, to obtain a pavement of a standard thickness.
- the pieces (1) and (2) are endowed in their latero-superior faces and in their inferior faces of a great profusion of holes (6) that allow the free passage of the concrete (7) towards the interior and through the joint itself , however, the inner walls (3) of connection between pieces (1) and (2) are lacking holes.
- a small longitudinal groove (8) is defined at the upper level, in correspondence with its likewise superior edge, intended for the coupling of a plastic band (9) which, together with that of the other piece, tops off the joint constituting the upper edge thereof.
- each of the pieces (1) and (2) incorporates, in suitably distributed points along them, special holes (10) for passage of respective vertical pins (11) which, intended 5. to rest on the ground (12), as observed especially in Figure 4, they allow to regulate in height the triangular profile constituted by the pieces (1) and (2) and conveniently fix any position chosen for them, with the collaboration of 0 and side stud screws (13) that in turn play in holes (14) of the pieces (1) and (2), in nut functions.
- the plastic bands (9) located on the upper edge or edge of the aforementioned rule due to their own plastic nature and their small surface area, greatly facilitate the movement of the surface vibrator, while being capable of bear it without suffering deformations.
- the double profile is also usable as a closing table, that is to say as a marginal limiting element of a formwork, being also light, easy to release, self-supporting and acting simultaneously as a contraction, work and expansion joint.
- one of the two pieces (1-2) that participate in the joint can be used in isolation.
