Definitions

  • Stainless steel mesh is often used for rotary screen printing, which is formed into a hollow cylinder. In the interior of the cylinder, feeds for the coating compound and the doctor blade (wiper) are arranged. Due to the rotary structure, a continuous printing process is possible.
  • the coating material In a cylindrical rotary screen, the coating material is typically fed centrally through a feed via a lateral bore or a central feed channel. As the screen rotates during operation, the coating material collects in front of the scraper. In order to be able to rule out a patchy coating through the screen pores on the substrate, there must always be an excess of coating material in front of the stripper. Typically, the coating material rolls up on the stripper and falls back onto the screen in front of the stripper. This means that part of the coating material must always be used as a precautionary excess during the process, which is not available for the actual coating. This proportion is all the more unfavorable the thinner the layer to be applied and / or the smaller the area to be coated per substrate or component and process step.
