Abstract

Bei einem bekannten Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Rohres aus dotiertem Quarzglas werden die Ausgangskomponenten einem Abscheidebrenner zugeführt, SiO2 und GeO2 enthaltende Partikel gebildet, und auf einem um seine Längsachse rotierenden Dorn unter Bildung einer porösen Sootschicht abgeschieden. Um hiervon ausgehend eine radial homogene Verteilung des Dotierstoffs über der Rohrwandung zu gewährleisten, wird erfindungsgemäß vorgeschlagen, dass im Außenbereich der Sootschicht eine äußere Verdichtungszone (3) höherer Dichte erzeugt wird, die einen Innenbereich (2) der Sootschicht geringerer Dichte umgibt. Ein rohrförmiges Halbzeug aus porösem, GeO2 enthaltenden Quarzglas, das einer Dehydratationsbehandlung unterworfen werden kann, ohne dass sich die voreingestellte Dotierstoffverteilung über die Rohrwandung wesentlich ändert, zeichnet sich erfindungsgemäss dadurch aus, dass im Bereich der Rohr-Außenwandung eine äußere Verdichtungszone (3) höherer Dichte vorgesehen ist, die einen Innenbereich (2) geringerer Dichte umgibt.
