  • the telephone connection requesting portion of the CTI server (not shown) in a receiver's region with the same structure of the CTI server 50 receives the communications address data and the information on the CTI server 50 through the web server.
  • the VoIP gateway 510 performs telephone communications using the communications address data corresponding to the ID and the information of the CTI server managing the area where the receiver is located.
  • the controller 512 controls the decoding portion 504 to begin decoding of dialing data of the subscriber, and controls the VoIP gateway 510 to begin voice communications.
  • the CTI servers 224, 226, 40 and 50 perform voice guidance so that a user using any ordinary telephone can access the service providing server 204, receive input of the ID of a receiver who the user wishes to make communications and send the received ID to the service providing server 204, and connect the telephone communications with a receiver according to the function of a predetermined VoIP gateway by using communications address data corresponding to the ID and information of the CTI server managing the area where the receiver is located.
  • a conventional wired telephone or mobile telephone may be used. That is, since the three English alphabet, including the dot (".”), are assigned to each of nine numeric buttons of the conventional wired telephone or mobile telephone, a subscriber presses numeric buttons (1 , 2, 3, ..., 0) and special function buttons (*, #, etc.) of the conventional telephone based on a predetermined rule.
  • the decoding portion 504 of the CTI server 50 can decode the input dialing data into the English alphabet. For example, input general numerals are processed according to the conventional method.

  • the subscriber need not notice the changed telephone number to all others who will make a telephone call to the subscriber by using the Internet switching service system of the present invention. Also, when the subscriber uses ones' email address as the ID for telephone communications, the email address can also be used as the telephone ID.
  • an Internet switching service system includes an OCR (optical character reader) apparatus 602, a post office server computer 604, an Internet switching service service providing server 608, data base 610, and a printer 612.

  • ID_Written is preferably written in a predefined area on a post such as an area for inputting a zip code. Since the performance of the character recognition is quite superior these days, the ID_Written can be accurately read without any special problems.
  • the post office server computer 604 receives the ID_Written from the OCR apparatus 602 and transmits the received ID_Written to the Internet switching service server 608 through the Internet 606.
  • the Internet switching service server 608 receiving the ID_Written through the Internet 606 searches the data base 610 where the ID_Written of a subscriber and the post receiving address data corresponding to the ID_Written are previously stored for the post receiving address data corresponding to the received ID_Written. Also, the Internet switching service server 608 transmits the searched post receiving address data (Address_Destination) through the Internet 606 to the post office server computer 604.
  • the post office server computer 604 outputs the post receiving address data to the printer 612.
  • the printer 612 prints the post receiving address data on the post.
  • a subscriber can extract the post receiving address data of a receiver through the Internet by using the ID of the receiver.
  • the subscriber can transmit a post without memorizing the post receiving address of the receiver.
  • the receiver of the post as another subscriber can modify his/her post receiving address registered on the data base by using the Internet switching service system to change his/her address to receive a post.
  • the subscriber does not need to inform every subscriber who may send posts to him/her of the changed post receiving address.
  • the Internet switching service system according to the present invention may be realized by a program executed on a personal computer or a server computer. Program codes and code segments constituting the above program can be easily created by computer programmers in the field to which the present invention pertains.
  • the program can be stored on a recording medium which is readable/recordable on a computer.
  • the recording medium includes a magnetic recording medium, an optical recording medium and a carrier wave medium.
  • the Internet switching service system and method according to the present invention provide subscribers with easy and upgraded communications services through the Internet.

Abstract

Procédé pour service de commutation sur Internet utilisant un identificateur qui comporte des caractères pouvant être facilement mis en mémoire tels qu'une adresse de courrier électronique ou une identification de communication, en tant qu'identificateur unique pour les appels téléphoniques, les transmissions par télécopieur ou les envois postaux. Ledit procédé permettant de fournir un service de commutation sur Internet à un abonné connecté à l'Internet (214) pour que ce dernier puisse effectuer des appels téléphoniques par Internet en utilisant l'identification d'un destinataire comporte (a) la saisie de l'identification d'un destinataire avec lequel l'abonné désire entrer en communication, (b) l'exploration d'une base de données (202) contenant en mémoire une pluralité d'identifications et de données d'adresse de communication de ces identifications, pour trouver les données d'adresse de communication correspondant à l'identification, (c) l'envoi des données d'adresse de communication trouvées à l'abonné et (d) l'exécution par l'abonné d'un appel téléphonique, d'une transmission par télécopieur ou de l'envoi d'un courrier postal à l'aide des données d'adresse de communication trouvées. En outre, le destinataire du courrier, en tant qu'autre abonné, peut modifier son adresse de réception postale enregistrée dans la base de données en utilisant ledit système de service de commutation sur Internet pour modifier son adresse postale. Par conséquent, l'abonné n'a pas besoin d'informer tous les autres abonnés qui peuvent lui envoyer du courrier de son changement d'adresse postale.
