Abstract

Nach Abschalten einer Brennstoffzellenanlage (41) besteht die Gefahr, daß Restsauerstoff in den Brennstoffzellen der Brenn-stoffzellenanlage (41) verbleibt. Dieser Restsauerstoff führt zu unerwünschten Oxidationen, die Leistung und Lebensdauer der Brennstoffzellenanlage (41) erheblich beschränken. Es wird eine Brennstoffzellenanlage (41) angegeben, bei der der an die Anoden (3a, 23a, 44a) der Brennstoffzellen angrenzende Anodengasraum (7b, 51a) mindestens doppelt so groß ist wie der an die Kathoden (3b, 23b, 44b) der Brennstoffzellen an-grenzende Kathodengasraum (7b, 51b). Hierdurch wird gewähr-leistet, daß nach Abschalten der Brennstoffzellenanlage (41) genügend Wasserstoff in den Brennstoffzellen vorhanden ist, um den gesamten Sauerstoff innerhalb der Brennstoffzellen zur elektrochemischen Reaktion zu bringen.
