Definitions
- the present invention relates to a wheeled suitcase, in particular a so-called trolley, with an extendable platform.
- Trolley cases which are also referred to as so-called board cases or trolleys, usually have a luggage case, on the bottom of which there are rollers.
- a retractable telescopic handle is usually provided on the top for transport.
- Such trolleys are known. They have the advantage over conventional suitcases that they can be transported on wheels and therefore represent a lower burden for the user.
- additional handles are usually provided on one or more sides of the case so that the trolley can also be carried like a conventional suitcase. So that the telescopic handle is not a hindrance in these cases, it is usually designed to be retractable and can be retracted to such an extent that it no longer protrudes beyond the outer circumference of the case.
- One or more front pockets are often attached to the luggage case, which can be closed, for example, by zippers or designed as open pockets.
- the luggage case itself can consist of a single case element or be constructed in a modular manner from several case elements.
- the luggage case is often made of a flexible material or synthetic material.
- trolleys made of a rigid, shell-like case material are also known. Due to its easy handling, the trolley has been widely used in the past few years, especially by business travelers.
- the luggage case usually has an elongated, parallelepiped general shape, usually two axially parallel wheels being arranged on an edge of the bottom side of the case.
- the elongated case is usually oriented vertically in the parked rest position and has a small footprint compared to its height.
- the stability of a suitcase that is parked on its two wheels and possibly one or more support feet is therefore relatively low. If such a trolley is used as a work platform, for example during stays at airports or train stations or by representatives when visiting customers, and is used as a base for expensive electronic devices such as portable computers (laptops), then there is a risk of tipping over such a trolley associated risk of damage to sensitive and expensive devices unacceptably large.
- a roller case with the features of the preamble of the present claim 1 has become known from the international patent application WO 97/30607.
- This wheeled case has a telescopic platform on its underside.
- the platform consists of two parallel telescopic profiles, which are connected by a cross bar at their front end.
- the platform is arranged approximately at the level of the wheels of the trolley and, in its retracted position, is essentially aligned with the outer circumference of the luggage body. In the extended position, the platform protrudes beyond the outer circumference of the case on the side of the case opposite the rollers.
- the platform When the platform is extended, the footprint of the case is enlarged, so that the risk of accidental tipping is significantly reduced. Additional luggage can be transported on the extended platform during transport.
- the case described in WO 97/30607 has disadvantages: the platform on the bottom is extended via spring-loaded telescopic rails.
- the spring mechanism is connected via a cable to a release button arranged on the top of the case.
- a release button arranged on the top of the case.
- the connection between the platform and the top of the case creates a relatively rigid, inflexible system, the specific design of which must be designed specifically according to the shape and size of the respective luggage body.
- the platform therefore has, instead of a push button on the top of the item of luggage, a sliding button on the front transverse bar of the platform, by means of which the user can trigger the spring system to slide out the platform.
- This variant is also not free from disadvantages because it also requires a relatively complicated triggering mechanism.
- the user must bend far down each time the slide button is pressed. This is particularly unfavorable if the platform has to be pulled out and pushed back very frequently, as is the case, for example, when using the trolley as a mobile office for representatives or other business travelers.
- the known actuation system for the platform is also less suitable for less articulated people, but in particular for older people who prefer wheeled cases over conventional carrying cases.
- the present invention is therefore based on the technical problem of providing a wheeled case with an extendable, bottom-side platform which is structurally simple and can be operated by the user without great effort.
- the platform be lengthened by means of actuating means which can be displaced essentially in the vertical direction, suitable deflection means converting the vertical movement of the actuating means into a horizontal movement of the platform.
- the present invention therefore relates to a wheeled case with a pull handle, a wheel arrangement, a platform arranged in the lower region of the case, which can be positioned in a first position which is essentially aligned with the outer circumference of the case and with means for horizontally extending the platform over the The outer circumference of the case, the roller case being characterized in that the means for extending the platform comprise an essentially vertically displaceable actuating means and means for deflecting the vertical movement of the actuating means into a horizontal movement of the platform.
- the actuating means is preferably designed as a handle or switch which can be actuated manually by a user.
- the actuating means is particularly preferably a foot strip that can be actuated by the user by foot.
- the platform of the roller case according to the invention is mechanically particularly simple. It has no spring system for extending the platform, so that a correspondingly complex triggering and tensioning mechanism can also be dispensed with. Rather, the invention proposes to trigger the lengthening of the platform via an actuating means which can be displaced vertically by the user, the movement of which is mechanically coupled directly with the movement of the platform. If, for example, the platform is to be extended beyond the front of the case, it is advantageous to arrange the actuating means, that is to say for example a handle or a step bar, on the rear of the case. If the user then moves the handle or the step bar manually or with his foot downward, the platform is extended forward beyond the circumference of the case.
- the platform can be returned to its starting position in two ways: either the user pushes the platform back in with his foot by horizontally moving the front edge of the platform their starting position; the handle or the step bar returns to your upper starting position at the same time as a vertical movement. Or the user grips the handle or the step bar with his hand or grips under the step bar with the tip of his foot and then pulls it back up to the starting position; with the movement of the actuating means upward, the direct mechanical coupling also ensures a horizontal movement of the platform back into its starting position, in which it is flush with the outer circumference of the case.
- the deflecting means preferably consist of a flat band or a thin plate that is bendable perpendicular to its surface and relatively stiff parallel to its surface, one end of the band or plate with the actuating means, such as the kick strip, and the other end with the Platform is connected.
- This band can be designed, for example, as a metal sheet.
- the band is particularly advantageously implemented as a thin plastic plate.
- the actuating means and the platform itself are particularly preferably made of plastic materials. Suitable, mechanically heavy-duty plastics are known to the person skilled in the art, for example, from the construction of roller blinds.
- the deflection means can also consist, for example, of relatively rigid slats, which are constructed in the manner of a roller shutter and are movably guided to one another at their longitudinal edges.
- the actuating means, the flexible band and the platform form an integral slide element. This eliminates the need for additional fastening and holding means for connecting the three elements to one another, and the necessary mechanical coupling between the actuating means and the platform can be implemented particularly easily.
- the one-piece slide element is made of plastic, it is manufactured according to an advantageous embodiment as an injection molded component, which further reduces the manufacturing costs, particularly in the production of larger series.
- an advantageous embodiment of the roller case according to the invention is characterized in that at least the Deflection means are arranged between a first and a second guide element.
- the guide elements are preferably rigid and define an essentially L-shaped path for the deflection means.
- the deflection means are essentially freely movable along this path.
- the guide elements restrict the movement of the deflection means, so that, for example, the formation of folds or kinks in the deflection means is prevented.
- the actuating means and the platform are also advantageously guided by the guide elements.
- Base part of the second guide element are slidably arranged.
- These rails also serve to guide the entire slide element consisting of actuating means, belt and platform and in particular prevent the platform from deviating sideways from its essentially straight horizontal extension path.
- the rails have a stop, which the complete removal of the
- the vertical movement of the actuating means downwards can be limited by a stop.
- the actuating means is also preferably guided as it moves.
- a cutout is advantageously provided in a back part of the second guide element, in which the actuating means can be displaced.
- vertical guide wings can be provided on the sides of the cutout.
- the two guide elements are also particularly advantageously designed as one-piece injection-molded components. Together with the slide element, the two guide elements in this case form a platform module consisting of only three, preferably one-piece individual components. During manufacture, the three individual components can be put together easily and the guide elements screwed, glued or welded together. The manufacturing costs of such a platform module are particularly low due to its simple structure. Since there is no connection to the top of the case, in particular the case handle, the same platform module can be used for a wide variety of wheeled cases. To attach it to the case, it is inserted into the preferably also L-shaped platform module. Suitable fastening means are provided for connecting the two components.
- the first guide element advantageously comprises a substantially vertical back part and a substantially horizontal bottom part, the case being connectable to the back part and the bottom part.
- a wide variety of fasteners can be used to connect the case to the first guide element.
- the case is preferably screwed or glued. It is also conceivable to provide releasable fastening means, for example Velcro fasteners, so that the roller case can be used either with or without a platform.
- the wheel arrangement is connected directly to the platform module.
- At least the platform module has holding means for the wheel arrangement, in which the wheels with their axles can be inserted.
- the holder means are advantageously connected to the guide elements of the platform module.
- the holding means can be connected in one piece to the guide elements and, for example, can be formed with the second guide element as a one-piece injection molded component.
- the holding means are particularly advantageously connected to the guide elements via connecting elements.
- the width of the connecting elements can then be selected depending on the width of the respective roller case, so that the platform module with the wheel holders can be very easily adapted to different case sizes. This allows a particularly cost-effective production of the platform, since the shapes for the platform module and the wheel holders always remain the same and different injection molds are only required for connecting elements of different widths.
- the roller case according to the invention is particularly preferably a trolley which has a telescopically extendable pull handle on its top for more convenient handling.

- the preferred embodiment of the platform module 20 shown consists of three, in each case one-piece injection-molded plastic components: a first, essentially L-shaped guide element 30, which has an essentially vertically oriented front part 31 and an essentially has horizontally oriented bottom part 32.
- the first guide element 30 can have fastening means (not shown here) for connecting the luggage body 11 to the platform module 20.
- a second guide element 50 which has the same L-shaped general shape as the first guide element 30. It has a back part 51 and a foot part 52 oriented essentially perpendicular thereto.

- the shifting is carried out by pressing the step bar 41 downwards or by horizontally pushing back the cross bar 46 in the direction of the housing-like structure formed from the guide elements 30, 50.
- a cutout 48 is cut out, the width of which corresponds essentially to the width of the tread bar 41 and the length of which in is substantially equal to the maximum extension of platform 43.
